“You know, Gin?” Maverick says, “I very much get the feeling of being scared of being a danger to those around you. That is pretty much the reason I disappeared for around seven years. I believed I was…” There is a small pause. “I was something that was better kept away from them. So that is why I went away, right? It only made sense.” They share a glance, as it is made obvious that Gin is very much listening, standing at the other side of the room. “I don’t know…!” Maverick shakes off with a gesture, feeling a bit awkward. “Lately, I’ve seen that maybe that was the wrong lesson to learn from everything I went through.” And there it is, her winning smile: crooked and lovely. Maverick tilts her head towards Gin with fondness, “It’s actually because I met you.”
