Bad Romance |Ā Trial (Open)
So maybe Dorian was wandering the library in search of this mysterious claw thing. Trouble was, he couldnāt be bothered to open but a handful of books while he traversed the endless shelves. Truly, more and more this seemed like utter nonsense. How did they expect anyone to locate anything in a proverbial mountain of books this large.
Perhaps that was why he had no qualms about pausing when he came across signs of life at one of the tables. He very nearly missed the man seated there behind one of his stacks of books, but a few steps more, and the view was all-too clear.
Enough that when he approached, his eyes were already on one of the more questionable covers. He didnāt say a word before plucking it from the table for a closer look, and a glance at the back cover.
āā¦is this what they call literature in the multiverse?ā His nose crinkled slightly at the notion. A library of this magnitude was bound to have questionable things, yes, but⦠rifling through them?Ā āThe covers draw the eye well enough, though, I suppose.ā
Nozaki wasn't sure he liked the manās tone. Okay so this wasn't exactly highbrow literature but it was similar to his own lifeās work as a shoujo mangaka and he didn't want to hear it being insulted.
He picked up one of the novels from his discard stack and inspected it.
āIt says here that this author is a bright new star in āScottish Romance.ā
Would this bit of information impress the browsing patron? Maybe not. Particularly if the man had no clue what a āScottish Romanceā was. Nozaki himself was only now starting to get an inkling of what that phrase mean.Ā
Apparently a lot of tan, long-haired men standing in front of badly photo-shopped waterfall backdrops. Not quite his own world of pink bubbles and sparkly-eyed heroines certainly but he could see past these surface differences and see that they were fundamentally the same thing: stories about girls and pure love! In other words, they were both a very serious business.
He kept reading the back cover summary aloud, hoping that something in the description would help him prove the merit of romance novels to this wary stranger.
āFinbar Flanigan, the most powerful warrior in his clan does not trust the mysterious vixen Majella who ignites him with feelings of white hot lust-ā
Wait. What?
Nozaki dropped the book in surprise and horror.
āThis isnāt pure at all!ā
