I always thought saying sorry was more about alleviating guilt, that apologies were designed for the mouth, not for the ears.

every time i fall for someone new i’m just like ok. what lesson will come out of this this time
poetry is the only shrine a writer requires. the author’s aged body may deteriorate into the ground, but the words are untouched, in perfect condition.

If I ever let you down, it’s not because I don’t love you. It’s because I don’t love myself.

I know I’m better off without you but I never wanted it to be that way
It's a myth right? When they say that you're going to be enough for someone? that's a myth?
it’s not a myth, but it’s also not true. i believe no one can be enough for you if you are not enough for yourself. there has to be self-fulfillment before you can fully appreciate the value someone else has to offer. otherwise. you’ll always feel unsettled and incomplete.

The Unbearable Weight of Staying
by Warsan Shire
i don’t know when love became elusive what i know, is that no one i know has it my fathers arms around my mothers neck fruit too ripe to eat, a door half way open when your name is a just a hand i can never hold everything i have ever believed in, becomes magic. i think of lovers as trees, growing to and from one another searching for the same light, my mothers laughter in a dark room, a photograph greying under my touch, this is all i know how to do, carry loss around until i begin to resemble every bad memory, every terrible fear, every nightmare anyone has ever had. i ask did you ever love me? you say of course, of course so quickly that you sound like someone else i ask are you made of steel? are you made of iron? you cry on the phone, my stomach hurts i let you leave, i need someone who knows how to stay.
The best index to a person’s character is how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and how he treats people who can’t fight back.

If someone wanted to be with you, after all, they just made it happen.
