Destiny, I really like the way you write and I wanted to ask you two things.
How do you organize yourself to write fanfiction?
There are some very important aspects of the circus members' personalities that end up being forgotten; could you mention a few?
Hi there <3 thank you so much! Iโm glad you like!
How do I organize stories?
I just write the parts I WANT to write first, then I mark where the page breaks. I write out each scene and figure out later how they connect. Upon re-reading the story, I then make sure the flow/pacing feels the way I want to feel.
As for organization with files >_> I could do betterโฆ..
AH INTERESTINGโโ
ASPECTS OF THE CIRCUS MEMBERSโ PERSONALITIES THAT ARE OFTEN FORGOTTEN IN FAN-FICTION (and maybe Iโll forget too!) HELL YEAH:
Pierrot: How dangerous he is. He is a cinnamon roll, who can MAKE cinnamon rolls, but we also need to remember he will bare his fangs when needed. People also tend to forget that he has trouble controlling his emotions and temper. While at times he is quite controlled (i meanโฆ.in public at least he hasnโt beaten the shit out of Harlequin yet) but, he can lose it at a momentโs notice. Heโs NOT stupid, but just VERY goal oriented. Naivety doesnโt make someone lesser or dumb. Think Lizzy in Pride and Prejudice; Lizzy is witty and calls out bullshit when she sees it but sheโs TERRIBLY trusting of people who make a good impression, not thinking of the dangers that could lurk beneath (nor the good) until later in the story.
Harlequin: In contrast, people forget how VULNERABLE he is. Most donโt like him, often, from personal experiences with โguys like himโ and thatโs fair. I encourage ALL of you write about your lives IF you want that; so, if Harlequin reminds you of that dude who followed you on the street, write it out <3 take care of yourself and control that story how YOU want. However, because of this understood way of looking at him, sometimes itโs overlooked that Harlequin DESPERATELY wants a connection, a real one, with someone. For a guy who dances around the truth, he responds VERY well when someone is blunt or genuine (like Doctor and even Pierrot to some degree). Harlequin not only doesnโt think himself capable of love, he thinks he doesnโt deserve it. Also, make him laugh <3 he loves to laugh. People often forget that itโs fun to joke around with him, and most importantly, write him out as a friend who has trouble expressing himself and what he wants directly.
Doctor: Doctor says it like it is, literally. Every thing is literal to him, in fact. There is a reason why most also headcanon him as autistic (like darthsuki does) as he can give off this vibe. Doctor however, despite his blunt nature, is not unfeeling. He may accidentally say something that would be considered rude to some but for him heโs just trying to express his opinion in the most honest and detailed way possible. He also is a big teddy bear <33 he wants hugs, but he is also cautious that his terrifyingly large presence scares people (even when he just wants to be friendly and have fun, he might accidentally make you afraid, and that could make him sad). Idk if youโve ever watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel but there is a scene where her ex-boyfriend (who is tall) gets angry in a diner and in his rant he talks about how tall people arenโt allowed to be angry because too many find them scaryโDoc has this problem too. So some emotions are repressed depending on who is in the room. I think most people write him well, tbh, as far as Iโve seenโjust some tend to forget how โexcitedโ he can be haha.
TicketTaker: This character is arguably more misunderstood than Jester, but I canโt blame anyone for thinking it given how little we know about him. He hates humans, perhaps more than Jester does or at least just as much. He is NOT a gentleman (at least he pretends to be for humans and will act this way with a lover before BAMโyouโre tied up <3). Heโs VERY kinky, and yes, he may have ranked lower on the โkinkโ scale but thatโs just because heโs one of the least kinky in the CIRCUSโnot in general. This man will happily punish you without even laying a single finger on your person. You will beg for him. You will bow to him. He loves it when you bow, when you obey. Obedience, cleanliness, loyalty, and trust are the most important things to him. The way I see people write this guy is so gentlemanly, kind, and even meekโ-and that couldnโt be further from the truth.
Jester: Looooot of trauma, but the fires of the past have forged him into the leader he is today. Iโve written a ton about Jester, even been compared to him. The way most people write him isโฆ..inelegant. They make him to be a brute or write a self-aggrandizing conversation about โismsโ that is often half-baked and as preachy as a Saturday morning cartoon PSA. Their dialogue for Jester is weaker than it normally would beโwhile the true Jester takes OVER a room. Everyone is at attention when he enters, not out of fear, necessarily, but respect and awaiting their orders for the day. Jester is that person that everyone goes to for advice because they KNOW he knows what to do. Quietly, efficiently, and while his motives are, not that heโd ever admit this, often done out of fear (and a need to keep his family safe) he phrases them in a way that makes the other person curl into their shell like a turtle. Ever seen the movie โMy Cousin Vinnyโ? Thereโs a point in that film where the titular character Vinny describes a prosecutorโs argument like a playing card. He says, that the prosecutor will make you think this playing card is a brickโthat it looks like one, feels like one, but when you look around it, his argument is as thin as a playing card. This is Jesterโhe could sell you a bridge and the lake below it if he so chooses.
