Smoking Buddies
Dierk had put the cigarette back in his mouth when Goro began talking.
Then Goro said his last name and he sharply inhaled, sucking the entire cigarette into his mouth.
He qucikly reacted by hacking and coughing hard, banging on his chest to try and dislodge the cigarette from his throat, feeling a slight burning sensation on the roof of his mouth where the cigarette has stuck. Finally, his saliva had warped the cigarette’s paper enough that it deformed enough to fly out of his mouth. Dierk bent his knees and lowered himself to the ground, trying to catch his breath a bit. He said a few swears as he stuck a finger into his mouth and rubbed his mouth slightly burnt roof of his mouth.
He resumed a standing position and returned a slight glare at Goro, though he was not threatening at all, but looked more like he was out of breath.
H…h…..Y….yea…..yeah…… p….please….. use my given na….name from now on…. ha…….god…. fuck.
He stuck his finger back into his mouth and rubbed the roof of it a bit, before taking it out again.
H….ha….. s….so….w…..when….were you…b…born? What…. mouth and ….d..day?
He leaned back against the nearby wall and took a nice few deep breaths, trying to regain his composure completely.
Goro watched impassively as Dierk inhaled the cigarette and proceeded to wheeze and cough as he thumped at his chest. With one eyebrow slightly raised, he waited for the card gamer to finish spitting out the remains of the wasted cigarette. It seemed like calling him by his last name was liable to get him more pissed off... not that he was particularly worried about losing a fight to this guy. Ah, well. Might as well just call him by his first name; be the bigger man here.
"You're supposed to smoke those, not eat 'em. Hope you're not expectin' another one."
Goro tapped some ash from the end of his cigarette and took a drag while Dierk leaned against the wall and huffed out a question.
"My birthday? Whaddya wanna know that for?... Well, guess it doesn't really matter. April 19th."
