I NEED TO RANT ABOUT WORK
I know no one reads my posts so Imma just
A year ago, back in March 2019, my Kennel staff consisted of myself (manager on duty, aka mod), a male friend named Fabian (mod), a female friend named Alex (kennel tech), an assistant manager named Sarah, and a kennel manager named Anita.
A good team all around. Sarah was meh cause she was a lazy and cut corners alot, but not the worst. She had her good moments and was always willing to help me.
The problematic villain of this rant is the manager; Anita.
Anita is 56 years old, and EXTREMELY old fashioned. Im talking sexist, racist, homophobic southern gun slinging "iTs mY rIgHt!" type deal. Hated trans people. Hated gay people. Hated African Americans and called Asians "Orientals".
Now, I myself, being of the LGBTQ+ community, ALREADY butted heads with her.
But I was also one of the two people implementing change in the kennel (they hired me on so I would, eventually, replace her).
So much so that the head managers didn't want to put up with her constant bitching and complaints and just let her do whatever she fucking wanted.
No matter how good our system was and how TERRIBLE her old ones were, she got her way.
Then, one day, she wasn't listening and being careful when walking this dog named Luna. A very timid, small, but HELLA strong German Shepard. A good dog when you're in control.
But Anita was never in control.
And broke her hand. At 6:30 in the morning.
Problem was, being the stubborn woman she was, she refused to go to the dr until about 12:30 in the afternoon. A whole six hours later, all while walking dogs, bathing, feeding, etc.
This caused issues in her tendons and muscles as well.
So she was forced to go on medical leave. We didn't know for how long at first, but it gradually went from a week or two to nearly four months.
FOUR MONTHS OF PEACE AND JOY.
You don't understand how HAPPY and WONDERFUL everyone was in the kennel. Just the four of us! Things were SO SMOOTH. No issues! No problems! Management never had to intervene like they did when Anita was there! We solved issues together, worked well with one another, and it was like a god damned dream.
One of our Managers was talking about just letting Anita go because she needed to retire (and honestly shes the MOST EXPENSIVE person on the kennel staff considering her pay for what little she does).
And her tyrrany started up again with an astounding amount of force.
Every single thing we said against her opinion was us "starting a fight". She would cry to the managers, wail about how we don't respect her authority, and cause so many problems.
My amazing team of Kennel staff dwindled down to just me and Anita (and a few part timers/seasonals but they never really lasted..)
I was, and still am, so very upset and hurt by this.
They lost THREE good workers, and a WONDERFUL staff team because they didn't want to deal with the possible earful they'd get from firing the center of literally every single issue we've ever had.
They even AGREED that the months Anita was gone were blissful.
And yet they kept her around.
For what? She never did her job.
I picked up her slack in every way.
It was exasperating how every day was a fight with her.
How every single thing she has to question and demand be done this way or its wrong.
How she only listened to have a chance to respond and spoke over everything I said oe did.
How she constantly ran to the managers like a damn 5 year old trying to get their sibling in trouble for shit they didn't do.
I was having anxiety attacks DAILY before work.
And then her bitching RUINED my schedule.
I had the schedule I enjoyed; 6am to 2pm every day, Sun and Mon off.
The MANAGER. REFUSED. TO CLOSE. I DONT GET How they let that be a thing!! And she liveS 5 minutes down THE ROAD.
I live AN HOUR away. Traffic in the afternoon is a NIGHTMARE. Mornings were always better for me in all the ways, but no. She couldn't do it and they let her have her way.
When the Quarantine happened they kept only her on staff cause she lived so close.
Been stress free the whole time and I'm so happy she hasn't been back to work since I've returned, but I know it's coming.
I don't want to deal with her bs again.
