It was difficult to move. Celica should’ve known that.
However, that didn’t stop her from trying to move. Quite a saddening sight to see her try to crawl her way across the floor wanting to leave the brightly lit room. Being in such a closed off, brightly lit place didn’t help her much here. Though tried as she did, her body kept giving out on her as barely midway across the room.
She looked down on the floor, the look of distress and near tears again were evident. She wanted to leave. She wanted out of this place, and yet she couldn’t bring herself to–
She quickly looked up as she heard quiet steps approaching. Maybe remnants of her senses while she was still alive were tricking her. She couldn’t really feel much of anything anymore but maybe there was someone out there.
Her eyes widened as she saw someone enter. She recognized them. At least…by their appearance and the time spent here. Everything in her mind right now was a haze in trying to piece together memories she couldn’t remember. But right now she can clearly see the person who had entered the room.
“W…Wataru…?”
@hibikamen
He waited until the trial was over.
Just the trial; he was angered at the end, just like the previous, but he told himself that such anger was going to do him no good. All of them had their memories wiped, left with no knowledge of one another until it was too late.
Wataru leaves before the execution begins. He has seen enough death, knows he’ll only see more until they’re either all dead or something changes. ( the thought of the former makes his stomach twist. )
Her death… he knows the remnants remain, doesn’t know how long, but his own still haunt him they’ve been haunting him more and more, how many times has he bled how much has he bled by now and now knowing the cause of her death, he isn’t sure what to expect.
When he arrives–his stomach twists again. Wataru knows she recognizes him, but not in the same way he does. Celica’s memories wouldn’t have even begun to form a decent picture yet, he’s sure, and even though he wants to rush over immediately because they were friends and they trusted each other, he doesn’t want to startle her. Wataru pushes back whatever expression had made itself present on his face when he arrived, aiming to steady himself, thinking back to when Goro approached him first after his own death.
He steadies himself, walks over to her, and kneels down beside her.
“Celica…” What should he say? What can he say? “…I’m sorry.”
She stared back down as the other approached. Despite calling him upon seeing him, she didn’t want him to see her in such a state. While the appearance of her broken limbs that she feels aren’t visible, the ugly coloring of bruises on her body sure were as well as the blood staining her.
‘I look pathetic, don’t I?’
She finally looked back up to him. At least her only functional arm at the moment was able to prop her up so she wasn’t lying completely on the floor. She wasn’t crying anymore, only a vacant look in her eyes, looking lost and defeated. There was surely anger in it too but it wasn’t pointed anywhere towards the other man.
“I deserved this didn’t I...? I suppose...my fate had been sealed when I decided to keep everything in... I was only set up for failure in my situation, wasn’t I...?”
A laugh escaped her. It was hollowed, though different than the other times while she was still alive. It wasn’t faked or to hide something anymore. It was the sound of having given up.
“Why...do you come here...? Why apologize to me...when it was my fault I let it get to this...?”
