Eisuke quietly emerged from Hanami’s room after what felt like an eternity, fingers tight at his side as he walked with his gaze straight… Or as straight as one could get with half your face bandaged. Due to the burns, Eisuke’s hair that normally covered the left side of his face was now pinned out of the way, held in place by two hair clips to provide him with the now only form of seeing possible.
Eisuke slowly made his way from Floor D to Floor E and went straight for the computers in the data room, armed now only with the Raspberry Pi he’d received in the monomachine in place of his headphones and iPod. Plugging the mini computer into one of the computers, Eisuke began to type away, fingers flying across keys as he began a personal mission.
He was so immersed in what he was doing, he didn’t see or hear anyone come into the data room after him.
Hanami, having slept quite heavily after the trial to try and calm her nerves, finally awoke to find Eisuke gone. Naturally a rush of dread ran over her and without even thinking about it, she grabbed any clothes she could find and ran off to find him. Clad in what she flusteredly realised was one of Eisuke’s baggier shirts and a pair of shorts she’d usually used for training, she scoured the floors looking for her boyfriend.
With every floor where he wasn’t present it brought Hanami closer to an anxious breakdown. That is, until she discovered him at long last working one of the computers on Floor E. Sighing with relief, she contemplated redressing herself and coming back later now that she knew he was safe, but alas, abscence makes the heart grow fonder, and she really just wanted the comforting contact right about now.
Walking over, Hanami gently wrapped her arms around Eisuke, her fluffy hair tickling his,
“There you are, I thought I lost ya for a while there.”
Eisuke was snapped from his concentration when he was suddenly hugged. It took his brain a second to realize it was only his girlfriend and he sighed in slight relief and reached out in front of him, closing a small make up compact that was sitting there in front of the monitor.
“At least if you’re here, I don’t need that anymore…”
He said softly, smiling only a bit; the compact had been set right in front of Eisuke, but was pointed toward’s his right, giving him full visibility of what was behind him to his right, seeing as how he had no peripheral vision on that side now.
“I didn’t scare you right? I just didn’t want to wake you up… You’ve already worried so much about me… You need rest too…”
Eisuke insisted, reaching up to take her hands in his own; he could smell her shampoo wafting over him and it helped him to relax more into the chair.
“No, I was just wondering where you’d gotten off to is all.”
Hanami offered a sweet, reassuring smile. She was lying of course, she’d not been that scared in a good while, but knowing Eisuke’s tendency to worry, she didnt want to admit just how much it had frightened her to see him gone so suddenly,
“So what’re you up to, hon?”
She asked, leaning in to the computer to see.
Eisuke pointed to the little machine sitting next to his keyboard and smiled weakly. “I’m trying to turn THIS into a wifi router…” Eisuke explained as he pointed to the coding program he had up. “I’ve done it before for my radio station at school, but I didn’t think to do it here til now… I’m just hoping to get a connection with it…”
“A wifi router? You can do that?!” Hanami’s eyes widened in shock. It wasn’t something she knew a great deal about, but the internet would be an incredible resource for them. Of course,a threat like this could easily put Eisuke in danger, “Are you sure it’s safe to do that? I mean, anyone can just walk in here, what if…” She looked back to the door, cautiously taking note of how far through the door she could see, “….. I don’t want you getting hurt….”
“I’d rather die trying than sit around waiting for someone to kill me...”
Eisuke insisted, turning to look at her; even with only one eye visible, it spoke volumes of exhaustion.
“I’m just tired of running... I’m tired of hoping that whoever has us trapped here will actually let us and our loved ones go... We have to take action or we’ll be stuck here... I mean, four of us have already almost died trying to leave this place... Two of which ARE dead now... We need to connect to the outside world somehow... And if I can contact my father or even my radio station, we might have a chance of signalling for help.”
Eisuke explained, reaching out to take Hanami’s hands in his own, running his thumbs over her martial arts calluses as it trying to memorize their shapes and feel.
