Most people would rather die than be themselves. They don't want to be perceived as being too different by their family, friends and the society at large. They worry about being accepted for who they are.

A lot of problems in the society come from the fact that we have strong drives but live in a culture that discourages us from exploring them freely. Everyday our lives are surrounded by social norms, traditions, rules on what is accepted and what is right or wrong. Most times we feel restrained as if confined in a straitjacket. We are victims of the society; victims of our own design; victims by choice.

We find ourselves entangled in the web of the latest fashion fad or career-choice craze or social-media buzz. Look around you, everybody wants to sing. Everybody wants to rap. Everybody wants to engage in Advanced Fee Fraud (Yahoo-Yahoo). Everybody wants to be rich and famous. (Me too sha)

Quite funny is the fact that some people are afraid to try out new things (Xenophobia), such people would rather stay in their comfort-zone not wanting to venture into new projects, new ideas. You'll hear such people say, "This is how it is done." And when you ask why, they either come up with a I-don't-know-why shrug or at best say, "That's how it has always been done." We need not be afraid of change. Decide who you are not the society.
