Adam couldn't wait to get home. After the day he had, there was only one person he wanted to see. He said goodnight to his colleagues before leaving to get home as quickly as possible.
Opening the front door he was greeted by the sound of the radio and the click and tapping of keys from someone typing away. It stopped as soon as they registered the front door opening and closing. Footsteps came closer as he took his coat off, placed his things down in their place and just finished taking his shoes off when they halted in front of him. Looking up he smiled at the person standing there.
“I’m home.” They didn’t say anything, just looked at his face before stepping forward and wrapping their arms around his neck pulling him down to their height. Adam let his body relax as he melted into their embrace. “I need this.”
“I could see it on your face,” they giggled before they replied. They tightened their grip. “Are you okay after today?”
“I am now,” He turned to look at them as he spoke, “I thought I knew who she was, I guess I’m not as good a judge of character as I thought.” They shook their head at him.
“Now I know that is not true,” They placed their hands on his checks, thumbs stroking them as they looked into his eyes. “You wouldn't have made it to the detective position if that was true. Also, people change, that's why we always ask questions and talk to each other.”
He smiled at them when they let a surprised gasp when he swiped them off their feet and into his arms. Carrying them into the living room and placing them into his lap once he sat down. They adjusted their position to be facing him, tucking their face into his neck as they held onto each other for the rest of the night.
The pounding of hoovers could be heard as the barrel racing cowgirls took turns to see who was the fastest. While people were watching them, cowboys were getting ready for the other events, among them were the Hart family. They were getting ready for the team roping event.
“How are my boys faring?” Blythe asked as she stood next to them. Both turned to her with a smile, Don hugged her as they talked.
“We are good, ready to take the win.” Ryan said as he looked around them. “Where is y/n?” Blythe smiled before she answered him.
“She went and got a drink, she should be back soon,” She didn’t say anything about the person sneaking up behind him. His hat was taken and he spun around to see who had taken it.
“You know what they say,” The person said as they placed the hat on her head.
“I’m sorry to say I already have a wife,” Ryan smiled as he stepped into her space. “She can get very jealous and possessive.” Hands on her hips as she hers wrapped around his neck.
“Is that so?” she questioned.
“Yes, so you may want to hand it back before she comes for you.” She nodded as she started to pull away only to have him tighten his grip and kiss her. He felt her smile into the kiss as he mumbled against her lips. “Hi, my love.”
“ Hi,” Whispered back as she locked eyes. “You ready?”
“Born ready.”
“Like I said, you know the rule,” She grinned leaning up to his ear, “I’ll honor the rule if you win.” Ryan grinned right back just as Don called him over to start getting ready for their turn.
She went and sat with Blythe as they watched their husbands win the competition, that was no surprise. Hart boys were very competitive after all.
Nevermore was quiet as pupils were getting ready to go home for their break. Those that were finished, were either helping friends or doing the projects so they didn’t have to worry about them over the break. Pugsley was looking at some bugs when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning he saw y/n behind him holding something out towards him. He took it as he stood and examined it.
“Thank you,” smiling he looked at them before asking “What are you trying to wish me luck for?” Surprise took over her face as they looked at the gift to his face before a smile took over.
“You did research?” He turned away bashfully before nodding.
“I did. After the second one.” He looked back at them and noticed faint pinkness in their cheeks. “So, what do I need luck for?” Rubbing his thumb over the black silk as he questioned them.
“I wanted to assure you will return to me after the break and your sister doesn’t take things too far, even by accident.” They looked at their hands as they twisted a ring they wore.
“Thank you, I will not take it off.” Pugsley placed it in his breast pocket.
They carried on talking before their friends joined them and they left for their homes.
~~~~~
Busing with activity, you would be lucky to spot someone you were looking for as most pupils of Nevermore were returning on the same day. Bags were piled high with people squealing and joining their groups before more groups appeared and soon people were moving in different directions to see others. Pugsley was finding it hard to spot the person he wanted. He spotted them talking to their family, so he waited until they had finished and were driving away before grabbing onto their shoulders. They jumped slightly as they turned to see him.
“Your charm worked as always,” He reached into his pocket and for their hand before he placed the object into it. “It may not be as effective as yours but even if you're a little more protected than before. It will put my mind at ease.” They swooned at his words as Pugsley was kissed on the cheek before they took their bags back to their dorms.
They both hung their charms on the header of their beds.
When Blue met his father for the first time, he was hopeful for a positive relationship with him, his brother Ryan and step mother Blythe. With new family members came new challenges and beginnings. He was unsure how it would go but he smiled and took the challenges that life decided to give. The challenge to become a firefighter. Achieved with some bumps along the way. Relationship with his brother, they call each other brother and are happy to introduce as such. Blythe with him, a good relationship. Blythe with his Mama, not going to happen anytime soon.
It was while Don was talking to him that he met, in his words, an angel. They were going over some technique Blue wanted to get down for the Hokey games for the following year, when there was cheers by the fire engines. Sharing a look before they made their way to the commotion. Firefighters were surrounding someone that had just come in and praising and thanking them. When some of them left to get back to finish jobs and chores around the fire house they could see who it was.
“Snowdrop!” Don smiled at her “I see you have brought treats.” Hands rubbed together in excitement as he looked at the boxes. She laughed at his reaction.
“I did, I bought some for Blythe as well.” A small bag was held up as the boxes were taken off her and taken to the kitchen, not before the captain got in them. “Who is the new firefighter?”
“This is Blue,” The person in question was staring at her, not hearing what was being said. “He only joined recently and is my son.” He got a head tilt in return before she looked at Ryan.
“It’s a long story and Mama knows.”
“Okay then,” She nodded. “Well, it is lovely to meet you Blue and hopefully I will see you at the next dinner. I will leave you all to save some lives.” Giving Don, Ryan a hug and Blue once he nodded it was okay, She left to get back to work.
“Who was that?” Blue inquired as he stared at the door she left though. Ryan smirked as Don replied with a smile.
“A family friend, she likes to drop off some baked goods to different emergency services when she can. She runs a bakery cafe.” Sirens blared before anything else could be shared and they got right back into it.
Blue was driving up to the Raleigh/Hart house when he saw someone that looked familiar riding up to the house and into a paddock for their horse. He parked before making his way over to them.
“Have they got a name?” she jumped after he asked, turned towards him as her horse began grazing the grass.
“Hi,” The saddle was taken off to let them know they can rest. “This is Cotton.”
“Cotton,” he repeated uncertainly. “Is that it or are you hiding something?”
“You’re not allowed to laugh,” She pulled her face from where she hid it, “My father named it before he gave it to me. Promise.” Blue eyebrows raised as he agreed. “Meet Sir Cotton candy.” She refused to look at him.
“I’m sorry,” He apologised as he tried to stop laughing. “That’s adorable, because of your love of baking?” She stared at him and nodded.
They fell into a natural conversation as she finished settling Cotton, not paying attention to around them. Enjoying their time.
On a warm summer day two homes were bustling with the preparations of a wedding. Some were more nervous than others as the time grew nearer and family dynamics changed. During the organised chaos, a parcel was left on the steps of the bride’s family estate and was only noticed when a servant returned from a job they had been sent on. They picked it up and noticed who it was addressed to before passing it along to the lord of the estate.
Knocking on his daughter’s door, it opened to the sight he was not ready for. His little girl was all grown up, in her wedding dress laughing at something her mother said. She smiled at him once he was spotted. He placed the parcel in front of her, kissed her forehead and watched her open it.
“Colin,” She whispered softly when it was open and she saw beautifully crafted orange blossom replicas.
“How can you tell?” Her father asked as he watched her pick them up with a smile he has never seen before.
“He is the only one I told how much I like them.”
“I am glad he pays so much attention to you, it makes me confident in your chosen life partner.” She smiled at her fathers words, standing to place them gently down onto her luggage ready for when she moves in with her husband.
“Shall we go get you married?” Arm held out ready to guide her one last time on his own before someone else stood by her side.
Turning towards him, she took his arm, gave the replica one last look then walked out her childhood bedroom and towards her future.
The one thing Ryan thought after his divorce with Sam was that he would never find meaningful love again. He thought that he had his chance and would forever be on his own with the odd relationship, but nothing that would last.
He was glad to be proven wrong.
If there was anything he knew about love was that it would find you when you least expect it, change your perspective and hopes to something more than you can dream of. Something he learnt after reflecting was to make time for his life partner, listen to what they are saying - verbally or body language - compromise by not making promises you don't know if you can keep them. Have hope and dreams together but have ones that are for yourself otherwise you cannot grow together or individually. Communicate with them even if it is to let them know you are going to be five minutes late or 2 hours but most of all how you feel about something and not keep it in and think you are on the same page as them.
These thoughts were going through his mind as he watched his fiancee laugh with his family. Knowing he wanted to watch it for years to come and what he needs to do to ensure it. Enjoying how the simplicity of a good meal and the people you love can bring you so much joy.
While Ryan sat there, he didn’t see his mother watching him stare at his girl and learn from his pass. He didn’t notice how his father was loving that he found new love or Blue already building a sibling relationship with her. His family was watching him fall more in love then they have even seen him with anyone else. They hope they will continue to love each other and make the most of their love.
Blythe had a few thoughts run through her mind as she came to and saw Don above her looking down at her with a relieved smile. Smiling back before she looked around her and tried to sit up.
“Whoa, whoa there,” Don stopped her. “Willy is fine, you don't need to worry about him.”
“I’m not,” trying to sit up again before dizziness set in and laid herself back down. “Your daughter is back in Nashville." The blood drained from his face as he stared at her.
~~~~~
It was a sunny morning as Blythe rode Willy and gave a call to her husband, Don. She smiled as she saw her daughter ride up to her.
“You black mailed my father?” Her daughter pulled a face as she rode alongside her. “You have started a war with him.” She hung up before he could say anything else and looked towards the horse and rider. “What are you doing out here darling?”
“I thought I would see what my mama was up to.” She smiled at her.
“I mean what are you doing in Nashville?" Blythe smiled back at her. “Does your father and brother know you are here?”
“I’m moving back and no they don’t. I’m going to surprise them after their shift.”
“They will love that.”
“I’m going to ride ahead.” Once she noticed her mom got a message. Tugging on the reins when a ping sounded, before she could see what it was about the tornado sirens went off. Both of the horses bucked and sent their riders off their backs.
Separated from each other.
Coming too, Blythe didn’t see her daughter or the other horse. Hoping and praying they were okay and making their way back to the stable. She attempted to make her way back on Willy but he ran off. With a makeshift splint and bangles on her arm she set off, just missing a horse trying to pull itself free from the barbed wire.
~~~~~
Don’s throat felt it grew two sizes before he turned to the stable hand who was already on the radio back to the ranch. She shook her head. No sign of anyone returning back but someone did say they helped her saddle Apollo up. He didn’t want to leave Blythe but they both needed to know where their daughter was and if she was okay.
“Don, come in.” The radio crackled as he stood up. “Can you hear me?”
“Here,” He replied as he started up the hill.
“EMT’s are on route to you now.” A breath was let out before he tensed again. “Apollo just returned without a rider.” Silence was his answer before Don pulled his phone out and tried to ring but just as with Blythe, it went to voicemail.
Reaching the barbed wire, he looked left, tight and back again. As he turned to the right he spotted something further up. Jogging towards it he saw fabric stuck on the wire. Closing in he noticed it was the ribbon his daughter always tried onto Apollo’s braid. Getting closer he saw a foot, followed it up and recognised the unconscious body laying with her leg tangled in the wire.
“Raleigh ranch come in,” Don called in while dropping to the floor to assess the situation. He continued once they responded. “I just sent you a ping, I found her. Send for another ambulance."
Waking up to lights felt as though the sun was glaring and had a personal vendetta. There was pressure on her hand as she blinked, looking around to make sense with what was going on. The last thing that could be remembered was riding alongside her mother, sirens blaring then nothing. The pressure tightened before her vision was blocked and her father was smiling at her.
“You two go, me and her grandpa can sit next to her while you go save as many people as you can.” Blythe’s voice came from the right, she was trying to get out of the bed.
“Hey hunny,” Don’s voice made everyone in the room look at him. “It’s okay you’re safe now.”
“What happened?” Spoken in a soft croaky voice as she watched everyone surround her, “Is Apollo okay?” The family chucked.
“You are just like your mother. The first thing she did was ask about Willy when she woke up too.” Grandpa Edward helped Blythe over to his granddaughter’s bed, who processed to make room for her even if they could all see it was taking all her strength. Ryan and Don helped her, they didn’t like seeing her struggle.
Blythe squeezed onto the bed next to her, holding on tight as they explained what happened and why the siren went off. Letting her know that Apollo was safe at the ranch. They wanted to stay but knew that Nashville needed them.
“Go be someone else’s heroes as well.” Both Don and Ryan gave a soft laugh, kissed her forehead, doing the safe to Blythe before leaving them both to rest, knowing they were safe in each other's arms. Turning into her mother as much as she could, Blythe was reminded of when she was younger and loved to cuddle with anyone in the family she could get sitting. Blythe nor Edward left her side unless it was necessary.
The weather had taken a more chiller undertone as the day had gone on, surprising quite a few people. Colin was glad he heeded the inn keepers warning and wore the appropriate attire. As he walked along the streets, he noticed a man and women arguing about who needed a scarf more and Colin deduced they were siblings from his own experience in a similar situation. Seeing as he was making his way back to the inn he decided to help.
“Excuse me, kind gentleman and lady.” He bowed ever so slightly in greeting, which he got in return. “If it does not trouble you, I can offer my scarf up as I am on the way back to my lodgings."
“We could not do that to you kind sir.” The gentleman replied to him as he quickly wrapped his scarf around his sister's neck, gaining a light kick in the ankle.
“I have siblings myself you see and I know how stubborn they can be.” Colin smiled at the kick. “My apologies, I did not introduce myself. I am Colin Bridgerton."
“Sherlock Holmes and this is my younger sister y/n holmes. Thank you for the offer but we are on the way back to our lodgings as well.”
They separated and went on the way. He was surprised to bump into the young lady when he was in the tea room down the street from his lodgings the next day.
“I am glad to see you are wrapped up warm my lady.” Colin spoke to her as he passed her table. She started and glanced up at him.
“Sir Bridgerton, did you want to join me?” She asked after examining him. “My brother was meant to, however, a case pulled him away. I would like to thank you for your kind offer even if we did not take it.”
“I would be delighted to.” He joined her once he got over the shock of her asking.
The two of the sat there enjoying talking to each other about what it was like to have siblings. Drinking the beverages, wrapped up in the beginnings of something new blooming.
Sat looking at the moon was the spark to Pugsley’s heart. He was too busy watching them to hear them ask him a question and only realised when they looked towards him and a laugh slipped into the night.
“Pardon?”
“I asked if you could show me your magic.”
“I wouldn’t call it magic,” he looked up to the nightsky. “You have more magic than me.” They took a hold of his hand closer as the other turned his face to them.
“It electrifies my life because it is your power.” They held both of his hands once they knew Pugsley would not look away from them. “I would not have found you if it was not for your power, so I would call it magic.”
“Did you not see me while using your power?” He questioned, eyebrow raised and a curve of his lips.
“Just because I saw you does not guarantee that I would have met you.” They admired him as their eyes traced his face. “I’m glad I felt your magic otherwise I feel my life would have been dull without you.”
Pugsley took their words in as he fixed his gaze upon them. Observing their subconscious reactions to the different cues they are picking up. Silence surrounded them as they were taking one another in, finding the small things they love about each other.
There was a chill in the air as the Bridgerton family were out shopping for presents. The younger members of the family were huddled up to the older to keep warm and the youngest, Bee, was in Anthony’s arms cuddled into his neck to fight the cold.
“You warm there Bee?” He asked her as he pulled her clock around her a bit more.
“Warm.” She mumbled back sleepy nuzzling him. He chuckled as the family walked to the carriage and made their way back to the manor. Once the family reached the estate and made their way inside to the warmth of the sitting room. Bee was placed onto her feet before she ran straight over to one of the servants. She motioned for them to come closer before speaking quietly to them. They nodded at her before leaving the room.
“What was that Bee?” Benedict asked as she ran up to sit next to him, he only got a grin in return.
“The hot chocolate and biscuits, miss.” the servant said as they walked into the room with a cart holding the items. Everyone looked at the cart, then to their youngest who was smiling at them, they smiled back before making their way over to help themselves to a nice hot cup of chocolate.
“Mama, can the servants have some hot chocolate as well please?” Bee asked after taking a bite of a biscuit. Violet couldn’t be more proud with how kind hearted her youngest was.
“Of course they can. They need to stay warm and healthy for their families, don't they?” Both smiled at each other. The servants were given a break to enjoy their treats and while the family appreciated the time together. Life had a way of catching up to them without them realising it. Daphne was joining in the upcoming season, so they were going to have this moment while they could.
(talking about how to get rid of a corpse)(spider lily as a nickname)
The night was quiet as footsteps could be heard through the halls of the Addams home. No one thought much of them as it was most likely Fester going to the roof for his nightly howl as he was not screaming. As he reached the roof, he did not notice someone by the chimney, they didn’t see him either before it was too late. Fester went back to bed once his howling was finished and the other person was nowhere to be seen.
The Addams family woke and started their day by getting things ready for the yearly cauldron tipping off the roof. Some were doing as they pleased and getting their own ideas ready. As preparations were being done, Thing walked into the living room to grab his hand lotion but spotted something in the fireplace. He went and got the family and directed them to the room. When Wednesday walked into the room holding his spider lilies hand, his father was looking at the body while Fester pulled it out the fireplace. When Wednesday felt his hand being let go, he looked at it before watching her walk over to the sofa to sit and watch everything going on.
“I wonder what happened,” Gomez said as he poked at the body. “Hmm,” He pulled something of it as the family watched and Pugsley got Fester to start inspecting the body more. A hat is what he lifted up and showed them.
“It seems someone fell down the chimney,” a voice from the sofa spoke.
“It was unfortunate the fire was still on.” Wednesday smirked as he sat next to her after walking over to her. “We should feed get rid of the body,”
“Yes,” Gomez looked at the body. “Ah, I know.” He turned towards grandma. “Let’s put him in the yearly tipping cauldron.” Pugsley and Fester cheered at this and grandma was about to get them to take it to the kitchen so she could prepare him.
“As much as I want to see people scream, it would be better to rid him another way.” Spider lily said as she looked towards Morticia and Gomez. “How about feeding him to kitty?”
“Hm, that would be a treat for him.” Gomez thought before nodding his head, “Fester, Pugsley find Pubert and get him to help you feed kitty. He properly took him on a walk around the cemetery.”
The family dispersed to finish what they were doing beforehand or finding something different to do. Wednesday led his spider lily to their room where they sat and began to do their own things.
“Do you think kitty enjoyed his meal?” He looked towards her as she spoke to him.
“I suppose, but that is if they tried to do something about the charged taste.” She hummed as she walked over to him and sat on his lap.
“Read to me?” He began reading his book out loud without any prompt, pulling her back into his chest as they settled in the chair.
It smelt sweet when Tyler entered the house. He could smell hints of vanilla and chocolate in the air as he walked through the hall. When he walked into the kitchen, standing by the counter was his wife, mixing together some ingredients. He didn’t know what, she had the oven on with something already inside. It could be dinner prep as he could spot some other ingredients on the counter and by the looks of them she was going to make a stew or soup.
“What have you been baking?” Tyler asked as he hugged her from behind.
“Ah! Tyler!” She jumped slightly before looking towards him. “When did you get back?”
“Just a few minutes ago.” He nuzzled into her neck. “What are you baking?”
“Ah, yes,” She looked back at what she was doing. “I baked some cookies and brownies for you to take with you to the others. Just don’t let Boone eat them all before the others get to have some.” A goggle slipped as Tyler kissed her neck. He chuckled at what she said before offering to help her with anything that she needed.
They made a few more batches of different cookies and cakes. Some were for family and friends but the rest were to give to the survivors of the twisters that Tyler was getting ready to chase. Hoping something sweet will give them a bit of joy in a trying time. It was her way of being there helping while she could not. They were both waiting for the next generation of storm chasers to be born.
As the assassin guide looked at their new marks and got used to having control over their powers. Lloyd heard footsteps approaching them, he turned to where they were coming from and was surprised to see a barefoot girl running towards the guide. Following her was a trail of flowers blooming in the cracks and looking closer, where she stepped. She ran straight to Babylon, jumped onto his back while exclaiming that she was hungry. Ren ran over to her and pulled her into a game, while Talia walked over to Lloyd.
“I see she has made herself known,” Talia smiled as the others started to show her their powers without the worry of her getting hurt.
“Who is she?” He continued to watch her as Galilea showed her a trick with his webbing. “Is she not part of the guide, is that why she is not on board at the guide?” Lloyd noticed how she tensed slightly before releasing the breath she took.
“No, she is our seventh member,” Talia watched as Babylon juggled her and some food while walking over to the makeshift table. “Her parents abandoned her. They couldn’t cope with her powers anymore,even though, as you see, she can grow different plants. Compared to most of the powers here, hers is a dream.”
Both watched as she bounced between asking questions and taking bites of the food. They saw the moment that she spotted them, her face lighting up before she jumped off Crow’s lap and ran to them. Talia caught her before introducing them to each other.
“You can help with my powers too?” Her eyes widened as she looked at him in wonder and disbelief. Head whipping to look at Babylon as she spoke. “Did you hear I can do it then!”
The others were confused as they didn’t know what she meant by that. They looked between each other as Lloyd put the magic sigil on her arm and watched as the flowers around her began retreating. She showed the sigil off to everyone before Galilea called her over to him.
“What did you want to do?” Shyness creeped as she twiddled with her hands and looked at Babylon for support, he nodded at her.
“I want to use my powers to make medicine and help when magic can not.”
It went quiet as she kept fidgeting. Squeals could be heard as they cuddled up to her, saying she was so kind and they would help as much as they could. Lloyd watched before he thought of a question.
“Can you grow trees and other things or is it just flowers?” He was surprised when plants started growing around him, trees with fruit and not a flower was in sight. “You learnt to control your powers quickly.” He marvelled at what she had done.
“It’s because I know I could do it.” Lloyd looked confused. “I have made them before.”
“Her emotions changed her powers before and knew there was more to them but as none of us could control ours, we couldn’t help her explore them.” Babylon explained as he picked some fruit from a tree and passed it to her, he noticed her jumping for some.
He nodded before a letter dropped on the table. They were all shocked that it was from Jade and got excited before Lloyd pointed out that it was direct and precise in where it landed. Either he had control of his powers all the time or found a way to tame them as they did. A plan was created and Lloyd used his magic to get them close to Lordost. Ren decided to show off their cooking before they went on their way.
“Hey Lotus,” Babylon called and the growth blighted looked at him. “We want you to wait out here while we make sure that it is safe, okay?” She looked unsure then agreed.
Both Lotus and Lloyd fell asleep, making it easier for the others to sneak off to Lordost and scout it. When they infiltrated it, they were shocked to see a party being held. They were invited to join it and left speechless when they saw Jade.
It was soon made clean; a demon possessed his body.
There was nothing they could do apart from hope that Lotus finds someone to look after her. They did not realise that Grim got knocked to where they were resting. Lloyd tried to get her to wait there but she refused to let him go without her. He dropped her just at the edge of the forest before making his way into the castle to fight the demon. Albert and Dian were fighting the other processed Lordost people. All of the fights were coming to an end. Lloyd had dropped her further away then she originally thought. The assassin guide was being lectured by Albert when she threw herself at Babylon.
A lot happened to get them where they were, they would forever be grateful to Lloyd for giving them control of their magic and allowing them to live as a family.
