Here’s a little before and after of one of my favorite pieces so far. I first made it in 2019 but, despite loving the drawing, I HATED the painting. Funny story short, I had to make a showreel for my major and I didnt have any piece that I was proud of so I decided to repaint this one. Even though it is not as perfect as I’d like, I still feel like it was a mojor upgrade. What do you think? 2024 version on the way? (JK (unless))

Ayo, I'm wondering what I could do better with the lighting here? I spent the entire day trying to make it work but I'm so intelligent that I did the lighting on Bronya before even having a background lmao I tried to make a bedroom but the lighting didnt look like it came from a window so its also a no. Any ideas?

If your goal is to make it look like it's coming from a window, I'd suggest having the light come in as one solid block rather than dappled.

(Sorry for the sloppy mark up. I'm doing this on my phone at 3am)

I'd put most of the lights in the pink area I marked off (at varying intensities), and the darks around the areas I marked with purple.

(This part is mostly just what I'd go for as an artist. If you're committed to the bedroom idea, feel free to ignore this paragraph) This piece reads as very cozy in a childlike whimsy sorta way, but it doesn't read as a bedroom to me. I think this piece might be more successful if you ditch the window aspect and instead use the cloud as a light source (giving Bron a soft underlighting), and the light from the stars as highlights. Adding a rim light around Bron might also be fun
