So last night’s episode isn’t one of my favorites. Magnum and Higgins having just a few scenes together. Why wasn’t Ethan mentioned? I got the impression that they broke up. I did like the MI6 scenes. Magnum knows she lied about where she was but didn’t confront her. Curious how that’s going to end. Initially I thought he would understand why she kept it a secret. But now she not only keeps secrets but she also lied about it. Not sure if he’ll understand. Will he be angry or disappointed? And Lia is supposed to be keeping secrets to. Who will he forgive? How are Magnum and Higgins supposed to be working together if he doesn’t trust her?

This isn’t an episode I’ll be rewatching a lot.

I agree. I don’t like three story lines in one episode, two is enough. I want more Higgins & Magnum interaction in the episodes.

I was debating weather to write this post or not. As you know I turn off anon asks, and since then my life is a little bit calmer, but today one of them or just some person who decided to put their thoughts into the space of the internt, you won't find it under my ao3 account, I delated it because I learn from the other experience.

The comment was about me, and I suppose other fic authors 'beg' for kudos or comments even of the fics are't amazing. First of all, all fics are amazing. You can see the effort, the heart someone put into writing it, hours of writing, editing thinking if it's good word and if you can say Juliet's eyes are hazel or chocolate brown...yes, the struggle is real. Second, we all know, don't like don't read.

Third, which is the most important, if you like, read! And leave kudos, comment even if it would be 'okshdvsks that was very good'. Every fic writer would tell you that they write for themselves, and some of this sentence is true, but we don't get money for it, no one pays are for writing 25k word fic about Juliet being escort girl or for Thomas having leukemia...no one will give us the money but you can! You can click that little read heart and give us whole money of this world, our fictional world. Milions of dollars worth comment if you'll even nicer.

My poiny here is that yes we beg for kudos and comments because it's the only way for us to believe our writing is worth something. Not only us, witers who don't know English, yet still post fics and praying for someone to read it and like it, every writers even those who speak English at daily basis.

This anon comment under my fic made me mad, sad and later just let me understand that there is no writers without readers and there are no readers without writers.

At the very end I want to thank, as I called them, 'kudos team' all girls who like and comment under my fics. You rock! And let me get my 'kudos money' to write even more. I love you all! 💜

Breaking my TV Line embargo to give my thoughts:

1. Yawn. 2. Not surprised at all, god forbid we have a re-occurring big bad instead of a love interest, note not love triangle as I doubt we will ever get to that stage. Or even the other cast members/characters?? 3. S3 was generally bad and we are now going for a repeat of this, with some no doubt attempts at a cutesy secret relationship (it won’t be). 4. Likely less Miggy, looking at how much this actress is posting from Oahu.

I honestly wish this show would decide what it wants to be, because it’s all over the place and not in a good way. This show had/has potential to be a next Castle/Bones but it’s spent too much time trying to be everything to everyone, it’s become nothing.

I also think the spectre of the OG Magnum looms large and they don’t want to go there (in terms of Miggy) for risk of upsetting people who don’t watch the show! At this point, I think Miggy fans are being played, and if they ever do get together it will be at the end of the show in the last scene, if it doesn’t get suddenly cancelled which as bubble show is a possibility. Both of these would be incredibly unsatisfying.

In terms of “slow burn”, what’s slow burn about Miggy? They can’t even acknowledge to themselves at S4 that they are looking at each THAT way let alone acting on those feelings, there is just slow and no burn. I know people are going to say Castle/Bones are slow burn – I respectfully disagree at least in Castle’s case - both attracted to each from the beginning and by the end of S2 acknowledged to themselves they had some feelings for each other. Slow burn is really for couples were there is one sided acknowledgement for a season or two, then the other one acknowledges it, then maybe canon later on.

Point is, that if you don’t ever give the audience what you have been signposting since the beginning and there is no progress what so ever, the audience will get bored and move on.

Apparently all the writers think that in order to create drama and excitement for new seasons, they have to bring in new love interests. they are really lacking in the “big bad” department, given how they’ve completely ignored the whole Ivan storyline and completely butchered the white van one.

I’m obsessed with the idea of miggy, but I have a bad feeling that the writers are going to drag it out too long. Look how that worked out for Macgyver and the Macriley fans… sure the writers tried to backpedal after getting cancelled by saying that they would have been endgame if given another season, but it was already too late.

magnum pi stresses me out more than it makes me happy now, and that’s a damn shame. other than blue bloods, it’s the only thing I watch 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was hoping season 4 would try to recover from the Trainwreck that was the 3rd season, but they just seem to want to dig themselves into the mud more.

I’m just not excited for the premiere anymore. I don’t want to see Higgins in Africa with Ethan, and I certainly don’t want to see Magnum and his new “secret” girlfriend sneaking around from the ohana. (that seems very out of character for him but this show is jumping the shark so 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Also, as a side note for some people on twitter: you are free to like and ship what you want (even despite not even seeing it on screen yet) but you DO NOT have the right to tell me or other people that I have to like certain characters and be ok with their romantic storylines. telling people what they can and cannot ship is like the number 1 fandom no-no. I don’t have to like it, so don’t tell me that I’m not a “real fan” if I don’t. pardon me for being upset that my otp keeps getting love interests that are not each other.

I totally agree with you. I didn’t like most of season 3(the parts with Juliet and Ethan) and I have already done Thomas love thing. If the love relationship goes on to season 4 count me gone.

I just want the Ethan story line to end

This is going to be all over the place, just a warning. 

There are two more episodes in this season of Magnum, P.I.  I know the Ethan story line is there for various reasons, but the longer it drags on, the more annoying it becomes.  We haven’t seen Jay Ali (Dr. Ethan Shah) in several episodes, even though he’s talked about I think every episode since we last saw him, and he’s still casting a long, annoying dark shadow over most of this season now.  I just want the blasted story line done. 

The show hadn’t been renewed for Season 4 when filming on Season 3 wrapped, so there has to be some resolution.  Any times I’ve watched the previous episodes of season 3 again, I’ve just fast forwarded through the parts with Ethan because for me, it’s actually hurting the show.  I didn’t need Ethan’s season-long story line, I didn’t want it.  Get it out of here. 

I’m not against Higgy having a relationship at all.  The way Magnum’s relationship was done with Abby?  Well done.  If they’d done something even remotely like that, I would have been thrilled: have Higgy realize she could open up emotionally, have Magnum get jealous and have to emotionally mature as well, have them grow closer together, etc., etc., etc.  But now it just seems like we’re drawing this out so we can make it to the end of the season and there apparently will be heartbreak (I’m treating the psychic’s line from Whispers of Death: Juliet being ‘on a path to great heartbreak’ as not just a throwaway line).

When they killed the ‘white SUV’ and Ivan stories (I’m assuming the story arcs are done), the writers made the second half of Season 3 about the Magnum-Higgins relationship, not just the partnership.  If they wanted Higgy to have a great relationship, I didn’t need Magnum pining over her every episode.  But now that’s the focus.

Don’t get me wrong here, either, I completely want Magnum and Higgy together at this point.  We just know someone’s going to get hurt.  From what the actors have alluded to, if Higgins leaves with Ethan for whatever reason (vacation, backpacking for a year, relocating to the mainland, whatever) then Magnum will be hurt.  If Higgins breaks up with Ethan because she wants to stay, Ethan will have forced her to choose between him and her Hawaii family (including Magnum but not only him) and I hate it when a choice like that is forced on someone, even a TV show character.  Although thinking about it now, she might have turned down returning to MI-6 to stay in Hawaii with the HI family, but she might turn down Ethan to stay with Magnum…I don’t know. 

I just want Ethan gone and Higgy here.  She doesn’t have to jump into a relationship with Magnum.  I want her character here because she is a key part of why I watch the show.  Miggy relationship would be a bonus.

Magnum PI 3x10 thoughts...

Ethan stepping in as Juliet’s partner for some impromptu PI work was very purposeful. It helped her compare Ethan and Magnum on a deeper level. The similarities are evident. They are both attractive, kind, generous, good men. They are hard workers who are good at their jobs and are all about helping people. It’s the difference that comes to light that is intriguing. What Juliet begins to see in this episode is that Ethan is the complacent type. He does whatever she needs, like sift through vacuum bags, without a second thought because it is the chivalrous thing to do. Magnum, on the other hand, is the opposite. He is a soldier at heart with head focused on fairness and teamwork. That’s why he doesn’t usually give in to Juliet’s demands but instead pushes back and challenges her. Neither man is wrong in their response to Juliet nor judged for it. However, it does beg the question... which type is she? Juliet is a badass former British intelligence agent who was engaged to a colleague with whom she fell in with in the field. After his death and her move to Hawaii, she was pretty quick to aide then partner with Magnum for some side PI work. Clearly, she loves excitement and enjoys a little conflict. It keeps her on her toes and makes life interesting. Just. Like. Magnum. We’ve watched their arguing and bantering for two and half seasons. We’ve seen how it fuels the natural spark between them. That is because for Magnum and Juliet friction fans the embers of their relationship along with love and respect. The embers of Juliet and Ethan’s relationship are smoldering but the heat is dying. Why? Because while they have love and respect, there is no friction. There is no challenge to be better or do better, to be less or more. There is no passion. And for Juliet, passion is everything. In conclusion, we can see that when it comes Magnum, Juliet knows deep down that

And 3x10 was the first big step toward that revelation.

i think that when juliet was shot in the first episode of season 3 and magnum thought she was going to die. He started to realize what he feels for her but he still doesn't actually have knowledge of that because she started to date Ethan and is clear that Magnum is bothered, so I think he is still in denial. But even though they might not get together this season, I feel like by the end of the season, Magnum will be sure about his feelings for Juliet

Yea I would definitely agree. Higgy getting shot in ep 1 definitely made Magnum think about how much he cares for her. I also think that when Ethan asked her out in the same episode and we saw his sad face during that scene, he felt odd for some reason, but he just wasn’t sure why. He is definitely bothered, but he doesn’t want to accept that he feels that way about her. I am really hoping that Thomas realizes that he is in love with her by the end of the season. It would be even better if he told someone about his feelings. Sometimes I have a really strong urge to shake both of them and yell “Can’t you see what’s right in front of you!?!”

Honestly at the point the best thing that could come out of this season for me would be Thomas realizing his feelings, and maybe Juliet starting to think that Ethan isn’t the right guy for her after all. I feel like her feelings towards Ethan are more fueled by lust and physical attraction rather than an emotional bond like she has with Thomas anyways.

This chapter is dedicated to Biondo, a dog who disappered while I was writing this part. I hoped that everything would be OK, but it wasn’t. The dog I had before Pippo was adopted in the same period of Biondo, who lived in front of the house of my parents. I still think about it, sometimes. I tried to imagine what his owners had felt while they looked for him in the wood and I tried to esorcize all writing this chapter, but, few days after I finished it, they found him, dead.
