‘ ah, he could’ve just said so... ’ scorpius mumbled before rolling his eyes quickly so she didn’t quite catch on it - or so he hoped. ‘ so if they are nice and brave... why does grandpa lucius hate them? ’ smart question, better yet another smart question. his eyes followed her as she stopped, making him stop too to look at her. ‘ so i can be a knight. does that mean i get to have a horse and a sword? oh, and i want a helmet too! ’ the littlest malfoy commented excitedly. now that was a great gift - a sword, a horse, a helmet, he could play knight whenever he wanted that way. ‘ but... the elves and goblins never want our help. aren’t they smarter than me anyway? why would they want help from a kid? what if i don’t want to help the elves... they don’t look like... a lot of fun... ’ there was a short pout at the end of his sentence. helping the elves didn’t sound too good... especially when he had had the chance to see them housekeeping majorly.

The Slytherin common room and dormitories are located in Slytherin Dungeon. Students enter the Dungeon through a concealed stone wall.

Slytherin’s common room looks out into the depths of the Hogwarts lake. The Giant Squid and other interesting aquatic creatures often pass by the windows. It has the feel of a mysterious, underwater shipwreck, but it is still quite cosy.

‘ if you had teeth this big, you wouldn’t need to ask the people to dig. they would let you because you’d be big... strong... scary. ’ as if he knew much about that, but he had his own little point of view as always. child innocence. ‘ yeah... i wouldn’t want to have teeth that big. ’ because then he couldn’t have candy as she said, and candy was important.

Astoria had been her friend, and furthermore Theo would never leave Draco and Scorpius to face this kind of loss alone. “Just not tonight. ‘ just... make sure you come, please. ’ scorpius malfoy begging for something of any sort? that was new, perhaps not with his godmother since she knew him since he was a little kid, but still. malfoy didn’t beg, but was now left with no choice. he needed her there, maybe more than he needed draco. ‘ i... shall wait for you. tomorrow. ’ he followed her to the headmistress’ office, ‘ i-- don’t want anyone knowing about it... for now, is that possible? ’

She reached out and carefully pulled Scorpius into a hug. Usually she tried to keep a firm line between her relationship with Scorpius as his professor and her relationship with him as his godmother, but that divide had collapsed in the face of his grief.

“Let’s get you to the headmistress,” she said after a moment. “I believe she’s setting up a Floo connection for you.”

the line between their relationship was always very strict - the professor never made things any easier for him just because she was his godparent. she was always very fair - so scorpius was surprised when she just pulled him into a hug within those four walls. the malfoy welcomed the hug, holding on to her tightly as if he depended on it. ‘ you’re not coming? ‘ no, she had to be there. astoria would want her there, or so he assumed - if not for astoria herself, then for him. he needed her there.

Astoria almost stops in her tracks, her hand tightening around her son’s at his question for a second. How does one explain that the problem is not the child but his mother and make it understandable for the young boy? Scorpius mother’s views are the problem in this equation, not the youngest Malfoy. “Of course they do. They adore you, in their own ways.” Which, truthfully, means showing it in expensive pureblood gifts and despising the way Astoria and Draco are raising their grandchild. “The thing is, you look like your father when he was your age, and they wish he and I had taught you what they taught your father,” she tries to explain, looking down at him as they kept walking. “They don’t like we tell you that everyone, from wizards to Muggles, deserves to be respected.”

scorpius waited for the reply that came shortly after. that was it? just because he looked like draco? confusion written on his face as he frowned, scorpius decided to keep sharing what his grandparents did that he found... different to what draco and astoria did, to what he was used to. ‘ grandpa lucius said i should be... be perciacious? ‘ perspicacious, but it’s not like scorpius memorised or understood what that even meant. ‘ he also said muggles suck. ‘ now that was less complex language for his little head, useless to say he caught up on the meaning of that immediately. ‘ do they? oh, and he gave me this old chess piece for my collection. a knight i think it is. he said i should learn to become a knight because they take down pawns easily. could i become a knight? ‘ certainly not, but how would he know that if he didn’t ask?

She understood their concern about the Malfoy family but Phoebe wasn’t evil as the stories at Hogwarts made it to be. She was great, sweet even, and believe it or not to the other’s, loving. Okay, so she was a little rough around the edges but if one was in her shoes they would be too. The next morning as she sat down with the other huffle’s she couldn’t help but smile as she saw Phoebe coming her way. “That’s because they don’t know you.” She said with a smile getting close to her. “You’re really great.” Alice tucked a piece of hair behind the blonde’s ear. Totally forgetting they wasn’t alone. “They just haven’t learned it yet. “

“But,” She said grabbing Phoebe’s before standing up. “we don’t have to stay. We can leave.”

‘ that’s their loss i guess. ‘ even if she was nice - to those she chose of course - phoebe was often quite sarcastic and that seemed to bother the half of hogwarts that was against her and building her bad girl reputation. ‘ only when i want to be, i admit - no need to defend me. ‘ if anything, phoebe malfoy was aware she wasn’t good news most of the time, and although she appreciated that alice stood by her side all the time whether she was right or wrong, she needn’t do that. alice took her hand and offered to leave the table as she stood up. instead, the slytherin girl turned slightly and pulled the girl towards her lap. ‘ we’re not going anywhere, i’m staying here with you whether they like it or not. ‘ she wasn’t going to give hufflepuff mates reasons to argue with alice, on the contrary, she’d... behave. as well as she possibly could to ensure she’d bring alice no trouble - anything but bringing alice to the slytherin table where people could be nasty towards alice and phoebe could have a delayed or no reaction. arms wrapped around the girl’s frame as she leaned her head against the girl’s back. ‘ so gorgeous, what’s the plan today? ‘
