Still My Best Friend || Samtina

Sam smiled, having a child wasn’t the easiest thing, so he admired Tina for handling it all so well. They were all so young, and yet she was able to take the responsibility and she had been doing so well. He was really proud of her, as weird as it sounded. When Tina wanted to make sure if they were still best friends, he nodded, a small smile still on his face, “Of course. I know things have been kinda weird recently, but we’ve been through a lot together, and I don’t wanna miss seeing this guy grow up.” The blonde admitted, his smile turning into a grin, “Besides, someone needs to make sure Joey gets to watch proper dude-ish movies.” He knew Mike was the boy’s father, but Sam would be the good uncle, and uncle’s deserved to spend some time with their nephews as well, right?

As Tina complimented his nicknames creativity, he felt a little bit proud. He knew she was being honest saying that, they had been friends for far too long, so he liked to think he could predict if she was lying or not, “Yeah, I’m gonna make up a cool one for him too. When he grows up a bit, of course so he can accept it, I guess.” He couldn’t promise he wouldn’t think of something earlier, but he decided not to mention that. It felt a bit weird to hear that she called him a role model, on the other hand, it made him want to do his best to make Tina proud. He would do his best to be a good guy, the one that would show Joey some good values.

“I don’t think so, it’s a dude thing.” Sam joked, quirking his eyebrow, although Tina had enough charisma to teach Joey some stuff, he was sure of that. Besides, he kinda liked teasing Tina, it was one of the perks of their friendship. His face expression changed when Tina passed him her son, he just looked down at the boy, and couldn’t stop staring at him. He’d seen babies before, and was allowed to hold them, but each time was different. It was different with his siblings before, and it was different now, “Wow, he’s really beautiful, you know?” He told Tina quietly, a small smile on his face.

Things had been two distance between her and her best friend and maybe the time that the two of them had been away, as much as it did suck not seeing each other seemed like something that she needed, just like she had six months without Mike. Distance was sometimes needed to realise the things that make one realise what you really missed most. Admittedly Tina did miss Sam, like a lot. Her smile grew, “I know but I think that was merely pregnancy brain and I wasn’t my best but nothing can break us apart.” The two of them had been through so much it would be stupid to throw it away over some argument, “I won’t let you miss anything promise.” Tina had been very attentive at documenting all of Joey’s movements since she was worried Mike might miss something major but in her luck so Mike hadn’t. “Of course I want him to have at least another good male influence in his life just like Mike and Blaine but Jesse and Sebastian,” all she had to do was pull a face hoping that Sam caught her drift.

Thinking about Joey growing up was a little scary, as a lot of message bored online kept saying that time flies with a little kid hence why Tina was treasuring every moment of him not talking before gave Joey a chance to answer back, but if her and Mike raised him right that would not be an issue. “Of course and I expect nothing but the finest nickname for our little superhero in training,” she joked ruffling her son’s hair. Tina still glad that Sam just fell back into place in her life. Now another person for Joey to look up too, the more the better as she wanted nothing but the best for her son.

“I beg to differ,” she scoffed laughing at his joke shaking her head. Boys will be boys, was not a motto that was gonna stick in this household, even though she was a little outnumbered she had a trick or two to make it her way. Handing Joey to Sam, the blonde boy had the same expression change as everyone did holding Joey. She took it in for a moment, tilting her head to the side watching the two. “I know he is. He is just perfect. He was worth everything.” Looking at the tiny boy Tina felt proud everything she went through because he was worth it. Tina grinned,”Joey likes you,by the way,” she commented.

Mike rolled his eyes, because he still wasn’t clued up on the whole baby thing, he was taking this as a work in progress kind of thing, but he figured that Joey wouldn’t be ready to start speaking yet for a good while. Least, that was what he was hoping for anyway, because he thought it would take him a good while before he finally stopped swearing, it was like a regular thing for him at the moment. “Hey, I’m not a troublemaker,” Mike grinned, bumping his nose against Tina’s, reaching down and gently brushing his finger along Joey’s cheek, still not really being able to believe that he actually had a kid, it was so surreal.

“Okay, okay fine, we’re in agreement, Rachel and Blaine, Jesse and Sebastian,” Mike sighed, because the only way he was going to get his way, was to make sure that Tina had hers, and well, she’d just given birth to his son, so he figured he had to give her something. That wasn’t to say that she was always going to have her own way, because that wasn’t how either of them worked together. It was boring to give in straight away. He nodded at that though, because he did sort of want them to get home as soon as possible, sure it would mean that they would be on their own and having to fend for themselves, but that would be okay, right? “Soon, T, we’ll be home soon,”

Tina shook her head a motion she felt like she would be doing a lot more often with her two boys for now on. “Of course you aren’t a troublemaker Mike.” She kissed his nose lightly nuzzling it lightly, looking down as Mike brushed his fingers against Joey’s cheek. Wow, her heart just fluttered a little still taking all of this in. This would be them for now on, not just Mike and Tina, but Mike, Tina and Joey. A small family although unplanned every single thing felt like this was how it was meant to be.

She could not take her eyes off her little boy as everything about him was so perfect and adorable, his little eyes, his tiny hands or the way his little chest was going up and down while breathing, Tina didn’t want to miss a single moment of it. “Yeah agreed: all of them are going to love him to pieces,” a smile of approval on her face as Mike and her had made yet another agreement in the short while that Joey had been born. They didn’t seem to be too bad at this parenting thing all ready, she just hoped that the odds would stay in their favours when they were left to their own devices. “Think we just got to wait for the nurse to discharge me and on home where the madness begins.”

“You don’t trust him with colours then?” Rachel asked with a grin, though she could completely understand that, she wasn’t sure that she could trust Jesse with something as important as that either. She was pretty sure that their baby’s room would be probably as flamboyant as their father was, not that it was a bad thing, but still, she wanted their babies to be a little more on the tamer side of things. “Trust me, you go through this, you pick up a thing or two, it comes with it,” At least if or when she ever got pregnant again, she’d know what she was going into.

She linked her arm through Tina’s, leading her towards the cashier, since she was sure that Tina had more than enough to last her for a lifetime. “Come on, let’s get these paid for, and I’ll treat you to lunch,” It was the least she could do really, Tina was pretty big now, and they’d been walking around for so long, she thought she could use a little break. “If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be needing a little pick me up right now,”

“Pretty much yeah. Mike just see’s blue and well I am a little fusser about these kinds of things,” Tina at least admitted to Rachel. It seemed like Rachel completely understand what she meant though because well there were different shades of blue and she knew Mike wouldn’t see that and grab the first pot of paint and have it as that. “Well hopefully I won’t have to go through it in a while, once this one is out.” As there was no time soon that Tina was expecting to go through pregnancy not for a very long, long while that was.

Following Rachel to the cashier kinda felt a little nice to splurge on her little boy as these were plenty of things that she was going to be needed anyway. “Oh god lunch sounds amazing!” They had just finished paying up for all the baby things trying her best no to stress over how much it was, you needed to spend to invest or something like that. “Oh you know me too me,” Tina laughed, “This little one always makes me feel hungry all the time. Pretty sure he is gonna eat as much as he father.” The thought scaring Tina a little since Mike well he really did eat a lot, to live with two boys with the same appetite, well at least she knew how to cook.

Mike dropped his head, letting out a little laugh when Tina said that, “I think that’s going to take some getting used to, T,” he told her with a cheeky little grin, lifting his head again so that he could look at her. He didn’t swear all the time, but like, sometimes he just couldn’t help it and it slipped out. It was going to take some getting used to though if he was going to make sure that he never swore in front of their son. Not that he supposed it really mattered, he was a baby, and he was sure that babies had no idea what was going on around them. “Yeah, that’s true, I don’t know many people who can be angry at a baby,” And maybe his dad was one of them, his mom had seemed to stand her ground a little more with him since finding out they were going to be grandparents, so maybe his dad wouldn’t be a complete ass the next time they saw them.

“Expressive?” Mike asked, leaning back a little as he stared at Tina, “That’s different, Jesse has always been eccentric, but Rachel is like, dammit T, my ears are still ringing from when she shouted at me,” At least Jesse didn’t shout, so Mike was confident that he had her there. He had to right? He smiled softly at Tina, placing his hand on top of hers, giving it a little squeeze, and leaning over her to press a kiss to her forehead, “I’m serious T, whatever this is, it’s for keeps,” Sure they still had a lot to figure out, mostly what they were going to do once they got out of the hospital and were home, tackling this on their own. But he thought they’d be okay.

“There are a lot of things that are both going to need to get use too,” she looked up at him catching his cheek grin that she adored so much. “Just wanna make sure that his first word is mummy or daddy when the time comes.” Those were the little things that she was looking forward too with motherhood seeing her little boy have his first steps, first words, first smile- the lot those were the moments to look forward too. She wanted to make sure that all those moments were captured if they could. “No one can resist his little face,” Tina cooed over her Joseph. “He is already in the works of being a trouble maker like his daddy.” She was still trying to make light of the whole situation. The stress of actually her parents were still dwelling with her.

It was still beyond Tina how on Earth Mike was even able to tolerate someone like Jesse and not see Rachel as this caring person that was actually human. “Good, she had all reason to shout at you,” she laughed,”Now you know how I feel every time I talk to Jesse and he is more than just eccentric. But if Jesse is Godfather than Rachel is Godmother or no deal,” she told him firmly, knowing that she was right. Tina looked up Mike meeting his gaze,”Of course it is the sooner we are home and can settle down, everything really begins.” Everything was starting now and she could not wait.

“Trying is not tough I guess.” Sam shrugged. Fighting was boring, not cool, and very childish. They were all adults so what was the point in constant tension and negativity? Sam didn’t want that but he figured out that it would take time until him and Mike could feel comfortable around each other, if that ever happens anyways. He didn’t mention that to Tina though, he didn’t want to stress her out, she had been through a lot recently, “Well, all I know is that I will always support you cause you’re awesome and you’re my friend.” He finished with a small nod, smiling towards Tina. He felt like this had to be mentioned.

Uncle Sam. Sounded good in his head, he realized that he was finally ready to become an uncle. He had siblings, sure, but this was big too because one of his friends was actually a mother right now, and Sam needed to make sure that he would do his best to make the little dude like him, “Yeah, well, I’m sure we’ll figure something out together. Like, dudes, you know?” He smiled brightly, the thought of spending some time with the baby was nice. He would be even willing to babysit whenever Tina needed him too, he was good at this after all.

“Quinn doesn’t really clean up after me.” Sam responded quickly, thinking to himself for a moment, “Okay, maybe sometimes, but usually she’s just mad at me or something. But like…not really mad, just kinda mad.” He started gesticulating awkwardly before realizing that he probably wasn’t making any sense. Instead, he just focused on Tina and Joseph, “Yeah, you should totally look at the photos again cause you guys look alike so much!” Sam stated a fact with a huge smile which faltered a little when Tina asked him if he wanted to hold the baby. He wanted to, of course, but he had doubts too. Would Mike be mad at him? “Yeah sure…If it’s okay…”

“Trust me if I can manage everything that I can with this little one, I am pretty sure the least the two of you could do is try,” she raised that point. Looking at it from her perspective there was nothing really stopping the two of them getting on as it was still beyond her why they couldn’t. Yet knowing that he was willing to try would be enough for Tina as she did not have the energy to argue with anyone. If everything could get on a lot more swiftly, than it would make her life a lot easier. “Thanks that is one of the best things I could have.” She paused a moment looking up at Sam,”Don’t’ you mean best friend?” Tina could not help but question wondering if the two of them stood where they did without the whole drama of her not being open about the pregnancy and the Santana thing she was trying to forget.

Some sense of relief came over her as he seemed to like being called Uncle Sam. Sam was a big brother after all, so she had complete in intrusting him to look after her Joey. “You always some up with the best nicknames SuperSam,” Tina bought up his old nickname smiling at the value of it. “Pretty sure when this little one starts talking, it would be nonstop and the two of you both having dude talks. He is going to have the best role models.” She could not be happier to have Sam around Joey considering Mike wanted him to be around Jesse and Sebastian and well, Tina needed to know that her son would not turn to the dark side anytime soon.

She only shook her head knowing exactly the kind of mad Quinn conveyed in times like that, “I will forever think that it is a guy thing. Hopefully Joseph will learn better some me.” A slight headache came with Tina thinking about how outnumbered she would be with the mess if Joey was as messy as Mike use to be but she was going to be a little picky at that. Once again looking down at Joey,”Guess I am gonna need to look at them again or maybe need to get my mom to send me some more just to be sure. Because I still don’t see it,” Holding Joey she looked up at Sam,”Of course it is okay,” she ushered him closer ready to pass her little boy to Sam.

“You don’t get many pleasures while you’re pregnant, especially sine you usually feel too fat to do anything, so you need to take advantage of every little chance that you get,” She hadn’t actually planned on that while she’d ben pregnant, it had just sort of happened, and well she thought it was only fair considering everything else she was going through at the time. So, if she could impart some wisdom to her friend then she definitely would. “I couldn’t open a jar of chocolate spread the once, and I cried alone in the kitchen, because I felt like a complete failure, I remember Blaine coming home and finding me and not having any idea what he needed to do,”

She nodded as Tina explained her plans for the baby, smiling at her because she seemed to have it all figured out which was nice, she hated the thought of Tina going into this without giving it any thought. “No, that’s good, it’ll give you a chance to sort out the nursery properly, especially with decorating and putting things together, “Precisely, he hasn’t really done much in the pregnancy, it’s all you isn’t it? So it’s the least he can do, besides, I can always lend you Jesse to give him a hand, and we can put our feet up while they’re hard at work,”

Placing her hand on her stomach, there was nothing that Rachel had said that wasn’t true. As wonderful as the journey of pregnancy was, most of the time when looking in the mirror with the aching back, she could not help put feel like she was getting fatter. Rubbing her stomach, this was a little time that she could be selfish enjoying the little pleasures that came her way. Happy mom, happy son right? She smiled pleasantly at Rachel,” Yeah kind of the only time that I can enjoy small things with no questions being asked about it.” Tina looked at Rachel as she told her that, “Awww Rachel. Don’t worry the amount of times that I’ve called Mike to see how long it will be before he gets home to get me all the junk food he hid on the highest selves. Though, Mike was the one crying a little when he caught me eating his Doritos once time. Now that was quite amusing.”

Tina just liked the Rachel giving her some reassurance on the choices she was making, since there was no one else to give her some clarification. “Like you said that is all going to be left in Mike’s hands but with a little dictation on colours for the room and such,” which was the truth,knowing Mike blue was just blue that only made Tina sigh a little. “Sounds like the perfect plan, giving the two of them there ‘manly’ ego boost and we get the satisfaction of relaxing. I like the way you think Rachel Berry.”

“Yeah, I don’t know if it’ll make him smile, he’s still kinda pissed that I got you pregnant in the first place….” Mike trailed off, chewing on the inside of his mouth for a minute, before looking back at Tina again, “But I mean, it’ll make him happier because we’re following tradition and all that,” he shrugged, and if it had to stay on his dad’s good side to support his family, then he’d do it, this was like, hardcore growing up. He was going against everything that he believed in, since he’d left LA for a reason after all, but this was for his family, and right now, he’d do anything for them. He still wasn’t convinced when Tina continued to make excuses over his choices for godparents, since he thought it was a logical choice, and if she was going to have her best friends, well why couldn’t he have his? After all, Joseph was going to need people to teach him all those real guy things, and although Jesse was questionable sometimes, he couldn’t think of two people that he’d trust more with something like this.

“Yeah, but she’s still a loudmouth T, you’ve gotta admit that?” Mike stated, because he wasn’t going to give in about that. Sure, Rachel was a good friend to Tina, but damn, she didn’t know when to shut up. No wonder she and Jesse were together, they were like, made for each other or whatever. “T, you know I’m here for you, and I want to be involved, but I’ve never even met your parents before, it’s got to be a little awkward. I mean, how would you feel if the first time you met my folks you were knocked up? Or, you just turn up in LA with Joseph in your arms?” He waited for her to answer, before speaking up again, “T, I’m not going anywhere, I promise, I’m not backing out, you two, you’re my family now, and I’m here for it all,”

“Hey no swearing in front of the baby,” she whispered lightly trying to distract herself with Joey, as the toll getting to her that Mike’s dad was not too pleased. She knew that their relationship was not the best thing in the world, maybe she had gone and strained it even more, even if his dad seemed to like her- a baby may have only made it worse. “Yeah it is better to keep him on the happier side. I am sure though that your mom’s happiness would easily rub off on him and finally he finally meets this little cutie,” Tina tried to look at the brighter side of it all. Today there would be no raining on her parade though, it as bout the birth and celebration of her son. She was still trying to see the sanity of Jesse and Sebastian being godparents to Joey because would they really be cut out for it? But maybe if Mike trusted him this much then to leave the life of their son with if heaven forbid anything happened to them, maybe Tina should be a little more willing to side with him on that.

Tina just gave him a look, “She is not a loud mouth she is just expressive. You know just like how you say Jesse is…well Jesse,” was the only way to express it. Though they would have time to argue about this on a later date, not like anything needed to be agreed upon there and then. Mike raises a rather valid point making her chew on the inside of his lip as he made her imagine if the tables were turned on her because yeah…she wouldn’t have wanted that at all. “Okay, you are right there…I wouldn’t want that to be the first impression that they get of you…” she held on to Joey’s little hand, “I know you won’t go anywhere, not like I did last time. Always going to be a family I hope,” Tina half smiled, “I’ll work something out about telling my parents.”

Rachel listened as Tina enlightened her more about her relationship with Mike, she didn’t understand a relationship that didn’t really involve much communication, but if that was what worked for them, then who was she to compare it to anything else? She laughed a little louder than she intended when Tina mentioned baby hormones, because she remembered what that was like. “God, I loved my baby hormones,” she laughed, “Not the whole crying over stupid things, but I got to be moody, and no one could complain because I was pregnant,” Good times, not that she was moody person, but sometimes it just felt good to let out some of that frustration and pregnancy hormones were the best excuse ever.

“Well, it certainly sounds as thought you’ve thought that through, at least,” Rachel smiled, steering Tina in the direction of the cribs nearby, “I don’t think I’d have liked putting my baby in their own room until they were a few months old,” she thought aloud, strolling through a couple of the nearby cribs, “I think that’s a good idea, if nothing else it’ll save you some money at least,” she smiled, “Word of advice, I’d leave decorating the nursery to Mike if I were you, it’s less hassle and it actually makes him feel like he’s doing something useful,”

“God the crying. I started crying over Ellen the other day and god it is only the weirdest thing to think you can be that sensitive,”Tina laughed recalling the other day were she literally broke down over nothing, if there was one thing that Mike was terrible with dealing with was a crying Tina. This kind of did make her wonder how he would deal with a crying baby in the apartment, but again that was something she would have to deal with too. She smiled a little at Rachel’s idea, “I never thought about it that way, being moody and no one to say a thing. Guess I am going to use that to my advantage then.”

“Oh god no is the baby being in their own room the first few months,” Tina protested a little, “I am pretty sure I am not letting this little one out of my sights. The first few months the baby will be in our room. The book said something about until the baby is able to cope on their own and dependence or something like that,” She rambled on about the book, knowing that she would be protective. She could not agree with Rachel, “That is actually a smart idea, give him a little bit more of an ego boost too.”

Sam analyzed in his head what Tina had just said, and he nodded. Yeah, him and Mike could definitely get along, especially when it was for Tina. Besides, they wouldn’t argue when the kid was around, both of them probably wanted to be good example so he had to admit that Tina was right, “Yeah, maybe one day we’ll be able to play with the little buddy together.” Sam wondered aloud, before adding, “That still sounds a bit surreal, but I hope so anyways.” He flashed Tina a genuine smile, being completely honest about it.

The blonde pouted for a little moment when Tina called him a big kid because he considered himself a man, like a real man, but then again, he knew that she meant no harm and it was actually a compliment, “Uncle Sammy.” He repeated after her, quite content with the title, “I like it. I may think of some way more badass names later.” He mumbled, him and Joey could totally think of some cool stuff to play with when the dude is older of course.

“All the same?” Sam asked, not really sure what she meant. As far as he knew, him and Mike looked totally different, and weren’t similar at all. They had different interests, so he quite couldn’t figure out what Tina had on her mind when she said that. He shrugged that off though, the most important person to focus on was now Joseph so Sam moved a bit closer, checking the little’s face out carefully, “Nah, he looks like his mom.” Sam stated, being perfectly sure about it, “He looks just like little you, I’m quite sure you’ve shown me the pictures of little you a while back. He’s definitely a copy of his mom.”

There was no hiding the smile on Tina’s face knowing that Sam was willing to do that for her and Joseph. Honestly that was one of the things that she had always wanted, her two favourite guys (not including her son) to finally get along being in the same room, as there was no reason for there to be this unruly tension between them as everything was now out on the table and there was no way they could top each other. Sam was her best friend and Mike was hers and it was about time that they could being in the same room. “Just the fact that you’re willing to even try is good enough with me,” Tina looked up at him, “Trust me I tell myself that every single day.”

It meant quite a lot that Tina was calling Sam an respective uncle for Joey, considering everything that had happened Tina was willing to push past it and look onto the brighter side, as Sam was making an effort with it. “I think it had a nice ring to it,” she smiled at him, “Well you got a while to pick something for him to fully understand,” Tina looked down at Joey not wanting him to be growing up all the time soon.

“Yes as in the sense of being messy until someone else cleans up after you,” the memories coming back the amount of time she would clear up Mike’s place when they were living apart but now it was a constant mess as there was just no time to clean. She could not help but beam a little at the compliment Sam was giving her, feeling a soft blushing coming to her cheek, “Now that you mention it, he does look a little like me. I am sure I have the photos around her or something.” Tina looked at Sam, “Do you wanna hold him?”

Fuck That Wasn't There Before || Santina

Santana was unsure if a baby would fix everything between Tina and Make, but she decided to keep quiet for once as it was none of her business. She didn’t want to get in more trouble. ‘’A baby boy’’ Santana repeated, but her voice was flat, soulless, just plain straight. ‘’I guess that’s better than a baby girl in this case. Since ya know, boys tend to suffer more in silent. If they’re not total cry babies. A girl would be destroyed with you two as parents.’’

Tina spoke up to Santana, which the Latina didn’t count on at all. She had always seen Tina as this shy girl - a project - but this time Santana’s friend had seem to grown up. Perhaps for the baby’s sake. ‘’Wow, okay, calm down.’’ Santana stuttered, not really sure where this conversation was heading. ‘’I didn’t say I know about you two. I just know what type of character the guy is, and from what I’ve seen he’s not fit to be a dad yet. Maybe you can change that, maybe not. ‘’

The Latina took the silence between them as a chance for her to look around the room. More people seemed to be dancing on the dancefloor, although Santana questioned how many of them were sober. This party hadn’t been nice for her, and she hadn’t seen her date around for a while. When Santana heard Tina’s voice, she turned around to face her friend who seemed to caress the growing stomach. ‘’Fine. You do yours and I do my business.’’

“Yes a baby boy,” Tina told her clenching her fists tighter getting all worked up with the way Santana was talking to her. There she stood like she was all high and mighty as if Santana knew what was best for her, because no she didn’t know anything. She was really working Tina up by using no filter. “You have no right to say that Santana! Our son will not be suffering in silence, we aren’t going to be those kind of parents. It is all about him regardless what might or might not be between Mike and I!”

So maybe her baby hormones where getting the better of her but she didn’t care if she was going over the top of making a scene or whatever. Tina was pissed and she was going to say what she needed. Never had she expected Santana to tell her to come down, maybe she should because it wasn’t a good for a baby , “No I won’t calm down,” she lied to him as she tried to still be mad at her but not too mad. “Well you may know other guys like him and Mike might be a lot of things but at least he is there for me and actually cares. We both have no clue what we are going but he can do it, I know he can….”

If Tina wasn’t mad at Santana before, than she was defiantly mad at her now. She always thought that Santana would be the one person that would stick by her but evidently from keeping secrets from her and treat the way she had been tonight, Tina had misjudged her. Things were changing and it seemed that included a friendship that could not be resolved. “You know what that is the best thing that you have said all night Santana.”

Mike shook his head, a goofy grin on his face as he looked down at the baby in his arms, like he was going to side with him on this. This could be fun actually, he definitely needed someone to team up with against Tina, and this little guy could be the answer to all his prayers. Awesome! “I don’t know, T. My hand still really hurts,” he grinned, turning his head to look at her again, “I mean, that theory has never really been tested, that like, having a kid is the worst pain ever, you don’t know what I’m feeling,” he knew he was messing with her, but he also knew how far he could push her, so he quickly leaned over her and pressed a little kiss to the top of her head, just to reassure her that he didn’t really mean it, and he knew about the pain and all that, she’d been screaming enough for him to get the message.

He definitely liked the name Joseph, but he liked Joey better. He supposed it would be like his name, Michael was all formal and that, but Mike suited him better, it always had, then that reminded him of something. “T, I know you didn’t want Mike Jr Jr, which yeah, okay, totally get and all that. But it’s kind of tradition in my family to have Michael in the name, and I know it would totally mean a lot to my dad, so what if we call him, Joseph Michael Chang?” he suggested, wondering how she’d take to that, it wasn’t like he’d ever be called Mike ever, it was just sort of there, and he knew all about keeping his dad happy, and that would also butter him up if they ever needed money for whatever. “Well i mean, you don’t like them either T,” Mike shrugged, “But yeah, I think they’d be pretty awesome, and like, they’re my best friends T, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with this to be honest,” He laughed at that though, shaking his head fondly, “Yeah, but I know how to shut Jesse up, Rachel just gets louder, and like, she’s super scary when she’s angry,”

He shrugged a little as Tina spoke about her dad, because yeah, he acted like he was all tough and not scared of anything, but if having a kid had taught him anything, it was that he was definitely scared, scared a lot really. “Well yeah, I guess, but I’ve never met your dad before, T. I don’t think meeting him up and being all ‘hey I knocked your daughter up, meet your grandson. How about we grab a beer sometime?’” He shook his head at how ridiculous that sounded, he couldn’t ever imagine it going as smoothly as Tina thought it would, “If you say so T, I’ll just sorta be in the background until I’m sure he’s not going to try and kill me through the screen or something, I’ve watched enough horror movies to know that it’s totally possible,”

Tina knew that she would soon be out numbered when it came to any female arguments but she was going to make sure everything in her power to raise their little boy to be a mama’s boy than to be taking Mike’s side on things. Even though no matter that Tina is always going to be right about everything. “Who knew that leaving the hospital today I would be leaving with two babies instead of one,” she said a little smugly only teasing him back pressing herself in the kiss. She knew that he was kidding, but she would win this one hands down especially when in a ward with many other new mother’s too but Tina would not take it to that extreme.

She raised an eyebrow to see where Mike was going with the whole Mike Jr Je thing, but then she smiled as he suggested the full name. “Joseph Michael Chang,” she repeated looking down at now named Joseph who seemed to be content. “It’s perfect and it would be nice to see your dad smiling- on the rare occasions that he does,” she chuckled just thinking about the look on his face, Mike’s parents would be proud something that they always should have been of Mike. “Nope that is not fair- they didn’t like me first and you know I am willing to give everyone a chance with them…god it is a mission and half,” she felt tense thinking about it, though it was something for Mike, “But if you trust them I…we can consider them,” she told him not wanting anything set in stone, she would still need a lot of convincing. “Hey, hey! What Rachel says is valid, trust me the amount of time that I have gone to her with advice about a lot of things. If it won’t for her, well let’s just say she help me see sense when it came to us.”

“Mike you are overreacting you know that right?” Tina folded her arms, her dad never even yelled at her as a teen that was just not in their relationships. Though she could understand what direction he was coming from. “Fine if you feel like you can linger in the background about it while I sweeten him up…here I was thinking you were here for it all,” she sighed. “Mike he is in Lima- he cannot hurt you trust me. He is harmless if anything your dad is a lot more scarier than mine I assure you, but don’t worry I will tell him, but when I introduce you there is no backing out.”

“Sounds cool, I guess.” Sam said, even if it was kind of hard to wrap his head around all of this. The Tina he had met two years ago, the vulnerable girl that used to work at the coffee shop, was now a mother, had all the responsibilities, and had grown up so much. Sam didn’t know how this was even possible, especially when he still saw her like the person that had brought him coffee that day, “Oh yeah, well I hope Mike will like me from now on, I really don’t wanna argue about stuff. Even if it’s all…weird, you guys are happy now and you have a baby.” It all had happened so fast but if Tina was okay with it, then he was too.

He couldn’t help but smile when she said she wanted him to be there. The kid could use a decent amount of Batman, Superman and comic books, Sam would make sure of that. He already had ideas, damn, what would happen if one day he will have his own babies…But that was still in the future, “Of course, yeah. You know I have siblings so I kinda know how to act around kids. I mean, I think I know.” Sam rambled on, a small smile on his face. He was tired of being excluded from Tina’s life, but some things couldn’t be helped.

“My apartment is only messy when Quinn’s not around. She usually doesn’t like when I throw my clothes around.” Sam confessed, grinning. His habits weren’t the nicest, he’d been trying to get rid of them though. Sometimes he succeeded, most of the times he failed, but the effort mattered, he supposed. Seeing Tina’s gestures he understood that from now on he needed to shut up because they were close to the baby. Following her, he finally found himself standing next to her holding the little one, and he couldn’t help but smile softly, “Hey dude, what’s up?” He asked very quietly, “Damn, he really looks like you.”

A lot had changed in the time that she and Sam last spoke, while he was talking more so it was sinking into her. Her and Mike has moved on with their lives quite swiftly though none of it was planned, it was something that they had to do especially with the baby. Everything had moved on quite quickly with quite a drastic change. “Honestly I hope so too,” she laughed a little still trying to understand why the boys never really got on but now they didn’t have only Tina to consider but little Joey also. “Trust me you are welcome here always and anytime. I’ll make sure you won’t argue because if you both get on with me, you can get on for me.”

The smile on his face was infectious because Sam was just someone who seemed to be a natural around children, one that Tina would most likely like her son to be around too. “Hey I now have this motherly instinct or something now,” Tina explained to Sam, “Well you are a big kid yourself- you know the fun sensible kind. Joey is going to need his uncle Sammy around, not to mention auntie Quinn.” She was inviting him back into not only her life but her families lives, Mike may not be the biggest fan of it but everything now was all about a compromise especially in moments such as this.

“Boys, you are all the same aren’t you,” she chuckled seeing another similarity between him and Mike. How they could not get on, she could only wonder. Looking up at Sam to see his smile only made her smile even more loving the look on people’s faces when they saw Joseph. The baby let at a little stern almost as if to respond to Sam, she rocked him a little in her arms. “You really think so? Cause when I look at him I pretty much see Mike, but he does have my nose.” Tina smile softly, “You know it is weird being a mother but a good kind. Like I can’t picture my life without him.”

“Not much of a talker, huh?” Rachel asked, wondering how a friendship ever formed between Mike and Jesse, though Jesse probably talked enough for the two of them if truth be told. It was quite amusing really the more that she thought about it, they were just so different, and yet Mike was such a big part of Jesse’s life. “At least he listens though, I mean there aren’t many guys that will listen to what you have to say,” She’d seen plenty of guys that like that at work, guys who were only really after one thing, their eyes always seemed to say more than their mouths did. “I guess it’s just a part of relationship, you know, having to talk about things that are sometimes difficult, it’s a part of growing up I suppose,” Things were supposed to be easier when they were younger, though Rachel wasn’t really sure if that was really true or not, given how tough she’d had it when she first moved out here.

She placed a hand on Tina’s shoulder when she saw her friend beginning to panic over what stroller she should purchase, not that there was a right or wrong one, but she could see how it was such a big deal. “If that’s what you want to do, then go for it,” she said, giving her shoulder a little squeeze, “At the end of the day, he’s your baby, so you should be the one who’s the most comfortable with it, it doesn’t matter what anyone what anyone else thinks,” As far as Rachel was concerned they were both nice strollers, and either one of them would’ve made a good choice. “So have you figured out where the baby is going to sleep yet?” she asked, wondering if Tina already had that covered, or if it was something else they’d have to purchase while they were out today.

Tina laughed, “Pretty much-normally with emotional stuff Mike and I tend to skim things and just get on,” her mind going back to the first time they kissed or when they nearly slept together the first time. It was just something they did because they knew not to read too much into things as they were close enough to know what was right and wrong with each other. “Trust me Mike knows better to listen to me now especially with the baby hormones cause according to him I have been a little snappy but I don’t know what he is talking about,” which she didn’t because she knew that was being perfectly normal, well, as normal as it gets being a pregnant women. “Growing up,” Tina repeated Rachel’s words because her and Mike were defiantly growing up quicker than most people their age would have to, with the little experience they had of the world they were soon going to be responsible for another life. “Yeah are going to have too but everything will be worth it in the end knowing where we both stand.”

Who knew that shopping for an unborn baby could be a little more stress than anything? In a way she as glad that she and Rachel were doing since Mike would have got frustrated with it by now. At least Rachel the patients with her. Putting her hands up in defeat Tina was opting for the more expensive one,”I think this would be best: Mike won’t fuss and considering it is something we are going to use every day, this one is the one,” she said with a satisfied smile upon her face. “I was kind of hoping that baby would stay in Mike and my room’s for the first few weeks just because new born and such but we might but him in the spare room as his own personal nursery. I kinda had my eye on this one cot that turns into a small bed afterwards,so you know when he grows up it will be a little less fuss going to buy a bed.”

Mike looked down at his bruised hand, then back up at Tina with an arched eyebrow, “Yeah, yeah, miracle of life, blah blah, but my hand might not ever be the same again T, did you ever think about that, huh?” he asked her with a playful grin so that she knew he was only messing with her. He nodded as he thought back to LA, thought back to his parents reaction to Tina, and how much his mom had adored her even then. She’d mentioned a proposal, even offered to give him his grandmother’s ring, which was kinda sweet he supposed, but he wasn’t even sure they were ready for marriage, they’d only just admitted that they wanted to be together, now they had a baby, like wouldn’t getting married kinda complicate that? He wasn’t sure, but he wasn’t going to bring that up right now, he was going to focus more on being the best dad he could be, and support his little family.

He rocked the kid in his arms a little as Tina deliberated on a name for him, although he was growing used to just calling him ‘the kid’ so that would be a definitely plan B, in case they couldn’t think of anything else. “Joseph?” He asked, looking from Tina to their son, tilting his head a little, trying to decide whether it fit him or not. “Little Joey Chang…” he mused, the kid opening his eyes at the same time, “I think that’s it, T, I think he likes it,” He sighed when Tina didn’t seem to agree with him on his choices for Godparents, “T, they’re like, my best friends, I trust them, and like, I know you don’t like them very much, but they’re good people,” But, he wasn’t totally closed minded and he was happy to listen to Tina’s suggestion, though he did roll his eyes when she suggested Rachel, because really? “Fine, I’ll agree to loudmouth, if you’ll agree to Jesse and Sebastian?” See, now that was totally fair.

The more he thought about it, the more he was kinda dreading breaking the new to Tina’s parents, like he knew it was the right thing to do and all, but like he was pretty sure that her dad would kill him. Though, maybe if they told them on skype, then like, Mike would have time to hide if he decided he was going to fly to New York to hunt him down, yeah, that sounded like a better plan to him. Perfect really. “It’s not the kid I’m worried about, T,”

“The pain you are in is nothing in comparison of what I went through,” she shook her head laughing at him. Sometimes he called her melodramatic but clearly their son would also get it off him. But Tina did count herself lucky that Mike had been there the whole time, for some girls they weren’t so lucky. She could not imagine going through this on her own, at least the world made the two of them finally come to their senses being together Tina would go through all of that pain again if it meant seeing Mike smile as he was now holding their little boy. Her perfect little family.

There was just something about the name Joseph that Tina just always had a liking too, and there was just this feeling, this little twinge in her stomach that just made her think that it was the right name for their baby boy. She could not have been more right. Leaning forward to look down at the little boy opening his eyes along with the smile on Mike’ face it seemed like name was decided, “Our little Joey could not be more perfect.” Pleased that they finally choose a name for Joseph, everything was really starting to get real. Tina winched a little still not sure that Jesse and Sebastian were cut out for the job, “I…you think that they can do it though Mike? I mean yeah they’re your best friends but you know they don’t like me that much…but I’ll think about it cause this is our son’s life we are talking about,” she frowned a little, “Come on you cannot call Rachel loudmouth when you are best friends with Jesse St.James,” she rolled her eyes at him.

Telling her parents was going to a fun one, but there was nothing they could do about it: angry or sad, but hopefully happy and surprised, this was Tina’s life now and she was taking responsibility for it. “Mike,” she sighed at him, “You got nothing to worry about okay? You are worried about my dad right?” sitting up a little, “Listen my dad loves me and I love you and my dad wouldn’t want me upset. So you will be in the clear,” she tried to ease his mind a little, “What is the worst that could happen?”

He didn’t know what to expect where he came there, but now that he had arrived, he wasn’t going anywhere. Tina seemed surprised to see him, but she didn’t kick him out or anything. Not yet anyways. It was tough to say what was going on between them regarding their friendship, he really hoped everything would be okay, because no matter what, she would always remain his close friend, the dorky Tina that shared the same interests with him.

“So you guys live together now, huh?” Sam asked, making a mental note to remember that in case he wanted to visit her again one day. He didn’t want to piss Mike off, especially in front of a child. That would be a disaster, “Thanks, I’m glad I’m welcomed here, I just hope I won’t annoy Mike, because yeah…that’s the last thing I want. I know he doesn’t like me.” The blonde said as he stepped inside the apartment, “I don’t want to argue and I don’t wanna stuff to be awkward.” He said quickly as he placed his hands in his jeans pockets, a little bit embarrassed. He just wanted everything to be okay, to be just like it used to be at their best. Sam hoped that regardless of the tough stuff they all would be able to be civil around each other.

“I didn’t even notice the mess, c’mon, my apartment looks exactly the same sometimes. Well, until Quinn comes around and tells me to clean it all up.” Sam rambled on as he walked into living room. He was a bit excited to meet Joseph, he loved kids and he was sure that the little dude would be adorable. All babies were super cute, “So…how are you doing? As a mom I mean.” He asked, “I’m sure you’re great, just asking how you’re holding on and everything…”

“Yeah we do,” she replied simply, “Mike asked me to move kinda made sense money wise and well, being a family too,” Tina felt strange saying this all because the dynamic of the conversation had changed with Sam. It was not too long ago the two of them were dorking around about superheroes and her getting over Mike- to well her being a mother. Everything had changed too fast, too quickly. “You are always welcome here though Sam,” Tina frowned a little, “Don’t worry about him, this is my home too now- he always has Jesse or Sebastian and you know I don’t like the two of them that much.” Which was simply the truth, though Mike was still pretty keen on them being Godfathers.

“Besides it doesn’t matter I want you to be here,” Tina wanted him to know that Sam was always welcomed here not wanting anything to be awkward especially with the baby in the house. “Oh I think Mike would know better than to start arguing with the baby. I am sure you would too.” Tina knew Mike well enough and the only thing she really would want to make everything even better than it was for her best friend, and baby daddy to get on- everything would be perfect but by now Tina knew all too well that it would never be the case, yet she could always dream about it.

She looked around the apartment getting use to this messy being known as their clean. Tina laughed a little, “Okay your apartment is always messy, guess tidiness calls for a women’s touch.” As Sam asked her about the wonders of motherhood, “Being a mom…it always keep you on your toes but honestly it is worth every little thing,”if right on queue Joseph was crying, excusing herself Tina picked up her little boy, hushing him a little, “Shhh,” she soothed her little boy as he got a little quieter. Tina looked down at Joseph motioning Sam a little closer, “Come on, do you one little him?”

Mike rolled his eyes as he ushered Tina back into her bed, “Yeah well, you need your rest, you must be exhausted T, I know I am, and I only had to deal with a bruised hand,” he smirked, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, once she was all settled again. He laughed when Tina seemed to be so happy about seeing his parents again, since she was probably one of the few people who was happy to see them, but that was a different story all together. “I never thought my mom would be happy about being a Grandma, but like, she’s really taken to it, she’s already talking about buying him loads of different baby shit, so you know,” He shrugged his shoulders a little, because all of this was still really surreal for him, a part of him still couldn’t believe that it was real, that the baby in his arms was actually his kid, and that now, he was like, completely responsible for him. That was like, one crazy thought right there.

Mike didn’t really have any ideas for baby names, that wasn’t something he was necessarily good at, not that he’d really put much thought into it, as far as he was concerned, they could call the kid Mike and be done with it, carrying on the family name and all that, but Tina had put a stop to that, so Mike thought that she should be the one to name him then. It was only fair after all. “Well, I kinda have two in mind, but like, I know you’re not gonna like them,” he shrugged, rocking the baby in his arms a little before looking up at Tina again, “I was thinking Jesse and Sebastian, since like, they’re my best friends, and if I’m gonna trust anyone with my kid, it’d be them,” He gave Tina a little squeeze though when he changed the subject to telling her parents the truth, because he knew it had to be done, they couldn’t wait for the kid to be like all grown up or whatever, and then make him tell them, although that did sound pretty tempting. “You’ve got to do it, T, but I’ll be there with you and all that, you know they’re probably gonna blame me more than they blame you,”

Tina knew that she needed to rest but she could not help but want to stay awake just wanting to spend the time with her baby boy. “I know but we are gonna have to get use to this” she sighed a little. Maybe she should take this chance while she could. “You didn’t push a human out of you- here I thought you were stronger than that Mike,” she teased him about his hand. She tucked some hair behind her ear, “Your mom seems excited about everything though- remember when she kept hinting about us two?” Tina reminded him remembering how she would not dropping hints. She could only imagine her reaction when finding out they were having a baby together. “It’s her first grandson, like us she wants to spoil him silly,” Tina smiled. It was nice that his mother was being supportive towards them, she knew they were going to need it as much as they could.

She was still trying to figure out what to name the baby since this was one of the most important parts. There was still time to name him, something classic yet modern. Tina chewed on her lip, the name was on the tip of her tongue but at the same time she felt like even though it could be wrong. “What about Joseph?” she suggested with small smile looking down at their son. “I kinda always liked that name…” Tina looked at Mike for some sort of seal of approval, “Little Joseph Chang,” liking the ring to it. He gaze fell to Mike as he suggested ideas for the Godfather, “Jesse and Sebastian?” she repeated the two people who held a distasted her the most, “Do you really think they would be up for? Although I was thinking Rachel and Blaine- I trust them,” she told Mike. Though she would of suggested Sam but the two of them were not exactly on speaking terms, so she dared not utter it.

Tina looked down at their son as Mike rocked him, “I know and I am going to. I have to,” she pressed a kiss to his cheek whispering softly, “Thank you Mike.” Tina thought for a moment the reaction her parents were going to get calling them announcing in. “They won’t blame you at all Mike. Remember it takes two to tango. But my mom kinda knows there is something with us. Dad on the other hand….well that is the wild card,” she panicked a little, “But one look at our baby boy and they will be all happy trust me.Who can be mad at a baby?”

All Rachel could really do was was shrug her shoulders in response to Tina’s comments, she didn’t doubt that what she had with Jesse wasn’t strong enough to last the distance, but they’d been together over a year now and yet a conversation about families and babies was yet to come up between them. Maybe she was just reading too much into things, just because it hadn’t come up, it didn’t mean that it wouldn’t, and if she was so desperate to talk about it, then there was nothing stopping her from bringing it up herself, her only fear was that it could potentially scare him off. It was just something she’d have to think about sooner or later, right now, Tina was right, they had a good relationship and that was all that mattered, they were much too young to be thinking about babies anyway.

“Well, talking should be the easiest part of any relationship,” Rachel smiled, even more so between expectant parents, that was what she believed anyway. She patted Tina’s hand when she could hear the uncertainty in her friend’s voice, “It’ll be okay, you two have survived this long, right?” She didn’t really want to add to Tina’s stresses, not since it wasn’t really good for the baby, and Rachel didn’t actually want to be a reason why he friend went into premature labour. That just wouldn’t be good at all. Still, right now they focused solely on the job at hand, which right now was helping Tina in choosing the best things possible for her new baby. “Hey, don’t let it stress you out,” Rachel sighed, turning her back on the more expensive items and focusing on the ones that were probably more in Tina’s price-range. “I think it mostly comes down to the type of person that you are, and if you prefer the more traditional look, then that’s what you should go with. Look at it this way, could you see yourself walking down the street with this?”

Tina still thought it was strange being in the situation that she was actually talking about relationships with Rachel, let alone having one herself. Not there was much that Tina could worry about, because what was there left to loose. Whatever it was between her and Mike was something that was real, it was something that had been worth fighting for. They were proof that they could go the distance when everything got messy, they were still together. Yet they had never confirmed anything, with them they always seemed to get to just go with the flow, at times which was the best thing because they knew how awkward they could get with it talking about things. Still this is something that they could not slide as easy as they had their other innocent acts.

She laughed a little at Rachel’s statement, “You think it would be, but surprisingly that isn’t one of Mike’s best strengths…but he could always listen to what I say,” she tried to look on the brighter side of it all. “Yeah this is just one other talk that is going to happen,” she knowing that this talk should be something easy because it should be. She tried to relax a little since stressing was the worst thing for the baby, she breathed a little thing some happier thought not wanting to hurt her unborn son as some of the things she read in her books were quite worrying and that was what she needed to do. “Okay…” she started talking out her thoughts to help give her the sense of clarity. “So the traditional one is cheaper and looks good but then the more expensive one has everything that is needed and easier. Again I might this one more but if Mike was taking him for a walk- he would not be pleased with this one. So I think the expensive one- because it is pretty much something we will be using all the time. So it is worth the stretch.”
