Siren! Will x Siren Hunter! Mack
hey guys! decided to post a teaser for chapter one of my siren fic :) more to come, hope you enjoy!
-
When Macklin was six years old, he and Aiden spent as much time as they could with their father at the docks. The hot sun would pelt down on their pale skin while they chased each other around, playing tag and pretending to push each other into the rocky waters below. He was too young to know it, but the time Mack had spent there with his family was something he would cherish forever.
Their salty skin and sandy feet were a staple in their day to day, the evenings were always filled with giggles and childlike joyâthe brothers trying to prove to their father just how strong they were by helping him load up his ship before big expeditions.
Mackâs Dada was preparing for another big hunt, one where Mack and his siblings wouldnât see him for months, and his mama would get help from the townsfolk to take care of her ârowdyâ kids.
Whatever that meant.
Rick was an incredibly important figure in their small port townâhis business provided for the family, but also for the community. Their expeditions provided food, protection, and stock for multiple vendors along the shoreline. Mack hated when his dad was gone, but he knew in his heart just how important his fatherâs job was.
Mackâs dada is a hero, who hunts monsters and above all âkeeps their town safe.
There are creatures in the seaâmonsters who sing to you and lure you close to the water, just to pull you in and make you their dinner. These monsters have been a nuisance to Shattuck Bay for centuries, and almost the entire ecosystem revolves around the stock Rick and his crew harvest from their hunts.
Mackâs uncle Sid is his dadaâs best friend and right hand man, and together they operate the best siren hunting production in the seven seas.
Today, Macklin and Aiden have decided to forego listening to what Sid is asking them to help with to play catch with Mackâs wooden toy boat. Itâs not the most comfortable item to be tossing around, but Aiden said that they canât get caught stealing Mrs. Lemieuxâs fruits for catch again, or their dad wonât let them back on the ship.
The wood is making the soft skin of Mackâs fingers sting every time he catches a pass from his older brother, but heâs having too much fun to want to stop. Aiden steps back and winds up a hard throw, yelling at Mack to âGo long!â before throwing it as hard as he can. Mack screeches and giggles as he runs as fast as his little legs will carry him.
The boat hits the ground and tumbles behind some boxes, and Macklin is suddenly very aware that it could roll right off of the dock into the water below. He picks up his pace and turns the sharp corner behind the boxes, just to see a little boy holding his boat.
The boy has golden blond hair and the bluest eyes Mack has ever seen. The burlap he has wrapped around him is only a little more distracting than the dried salt crystals all over his skin, and Mack canât even pretend to ignore the way this boy is visibly shaking.
âWoah! Are you okay?â Mack asks, crouching down in front of him. The boy refuses to make eye contact with him, staring at the wooden toy in his hands as he pretends to examine it. The boy flips the boat over, revealing the messy scrawl of Macklinâs name on the bottom.
âMacklin. Thatâs my name! I wrote it myself.â Mack shoots a toothy grin at the boy, who finally gets the courage to glance up. âWhatâs your name?â
He refuses to answer, hands still shaking around the stained maple of the toy. He extends a handâattempting to hand the toy back, but Mack wraps his hands around the boyâs and pushes it back towards him.
âItâs alright, it looks like you could use it. I hope you feel better.â Mack chatters. In the distance, Aiden is heard yelling for Mack to hurry up if he knows whatâs good for him.
âWell, Iâll catch you later. Have fun with the boat!â
Mack gets up and runs back to Aiden, and when his older brother asks him where the boat isâhe mightâve told him that it rolled into the water. He feels a little guilty about that lie as he sees the look on Aidenâs face. His brother begins to profusely apologize for losing the toy and promises to get him a new one. âItâs okay Aid, just donât tell mom.â He giggles, and the boys run to the ship in hopes that their dad might take them on a lap.
