a concept: you are walking side by side with the setting sun, your feet in the grass, your hair in the wind. your sleeves are short, the air is warm. it is spring, it is safe.
it’s gardening season! please don’t plant lettuces/greens directly into the ground in an urban area or close to a building without getting a soil test. the risk of lead poisoning is very high. if you can’t afford a soil test and you must plant into the ground, try to grow something where you will only be eating the fruit and not the leaves & stems (i.e. tomatoes, cucumbers, etc) bc there’s less of a chance that heavy metals will migrate to the fruit tissues. better yet, build a raised bed or plant in pots!
Hugelkultur: the ultimate sustainable raised garden bed
Hugelkultur are no-dig raised beds with a difference. They hold moisture, build fertility, maximize surface volume and are great spaces for growing fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Hugelkultur, pronounced Hoo-gul-culture, means hill culture or hill mound.

7 Perennial Herbs to Plant Now
Growing vegetables successfully takes ample dedication and a fair bit of growing space—plus the knowledge to do it right. And once they run out, you have to plant them again! No so with perennial herbs!

Cottagecore: Touch
The slightly stiff fabric of your apron against your hands.
The breeze gently brushing your face, as if to say "pay attention, there's still more to see."
Cool river water, flowing gently around your ankles.
The familiar weight of a wooden spoon in your hand.
The plants in your garden reaching out and lightly clinging to your clothes as you pass, welcoming you.
Soft grass beneath bare feet.
That lovely warm feeling when you lay out in the sun for just a little while.
Burying your fingers in a ball of soft wool yarn.
The radiant heat of a bonfire on your face and hands.
Fuzzy socks, straight from the dryer after a long day's work.
The weight of your thick work jacket on your shoulders before you head out.
The smooth faces of the tomatoes you pick from the garden, the weight of them filling up the basket.
♡spring is coming♡
Who wants to be a bee keeper with me and make a living selling moonshine honeymead to a bunch of backwoods country pirates?
I’ve been having a really bad feeling about some things happening in my personal life as of recently and when I was writing about it this morning (I keep this stream-of-consciousnesses type of a journal) these two “messages” came through. I’m posting them here if this is something you need to hear today as well :)
what i REALLY want to do is knit my friends chunky wool sweaters in ugly patterns and send them jars of homemade jam and lavender honey and sugar-crusted shortbread wrapped in brown paper tied up with knotted twine and handwrite them letters on thick yellowish paper infused with dried wildflowers i picked and pressed myself but nooooo i have to “study” and “work” so that i can earn ‘‘‘money’’’ and pay ‘‘‘bills’’’. fuck all life.
