This blog was made due to a hyperfixation taking a good hold of my brain, and because this character has so much development towards him I've decided I want to share with others.
All written posts will contain appropriate content warnings due to the fact this characters story is rather dark.
Asks are open! Clarify if you want a response in the pov of Silas, or from me, his creator.
Feel free to joke around in the asks too, we're all open to some fun!
Silas would often misbehave in containment when he was younger, the lash outs being a side affect of the hybrid he's made of.
Being able to kill easily, Silas actually managed to get a scientist with his claws.
Being reprimanded for this almost instantly, he'd be tossed into big breed dog crates for actual dogs.
"You want to behave like one, we'll treat you like one"
He'd have to stay in these crates for days at a time without food or water, they said it was to build up his bodily resistance but he knew it was really just harsh discipline.
《 Cw 》 Depiction of slightly demonic characters, he's a hellhound hybrid. Barbie nudity.
About Silas & His Design
Reference images at the end
Silas' human form looks like he's in his mid to late 20s, think 25-28.
His hellhound form stands at 3'7 at the shoulder (on all fours) he's large.
His human form stands 6'4 at the head and just under 6'5 at the horns/ears.
Silas is technically genderless, but he uses he/they/it pronouns. (You will see me refer to him as "it" quite often)
Silas often prefers to stay in his hellhound form if he can help it, he calls his human form the creation of childhood nightmares due to the amalgamation that the hellhound and wraith traits make the fragile human body.
Silas is Russian, he does know English, though he is selectively mute and will only talk if completely nessisary. He knows ASL and BSL, and carries a notebook with him at all times.
Due to his past, Silas is skiddish at times and extremely jumpy. His trust in people is barely existent and he zones/spaces out a lot.
Strong silen type, with a few buckets worth of trauma ❤️
"Would you consider Silas vengeance something he's always after, like tunnel vision?"
《 Cw 》 Lab mentions, Outdated Treatment mention
Creator response.
No not at all, Silas actually doesn't want to go tear down the existence of the new institution, he actually wants nothing to do with it again
Like in one of Silas other blurbs (on toyhouse) any mentions/reminders of the place actually give him a really bad ptsd reaction depending on what's mentioned.
This is why he's not deemed as violent by the government.
He should be treated like a normal hybrid but due to being a mythical cross, he's not.
Considering he lives in an au where hybrids already exist and co-live in the same society as humans.
But to give it a similar comparison to real world issues, think POC and non POC.
It's the same treatment essentially just with the added sense of danger since hybrids are quite literally part animal or forced mythical being like in Silas case.
I think if Silas saw that the institute was caught and indefinitely shut down he wouldn't really care honestly.
Because while he does hate what he is.
They did prolong his life like they promised his parents.
《 Cw 》 None. Character describes himself as monstrous.
Silas does become a functional part of the hybrid and human world.
Though his species combination is unnatural and automatically deemed unpredictable so he's often avoided by many.
Silas doesn't have a set age but he's said to be in his mid to late 20s, around 25-29 by the time the remains of the institute are blown to bits.
Silas name means wood or forest, that being his safe space and where he used to hang out before he became what he is now, that's the name he decided to go by.
That same woods, was where he ran once he was free, unsure of what to do with himself and his new being.
He only really runs into another living being about 2 years after his freedom.
He himself saw his combination as unnatural and monstrous so he hid himself from his friends, family, and all living people and other hybrids.
The first person to find Silas is actually a young girl, around the age he was when he was originally sold, wandering the same woods he did, the same paths he did.
With the young juvenile mind, and the lack of education on hybrids for people that age, when Silas makes himself visible to the young girl she essentially sees him as a fucked up looking really big dog.
They didn't say anything, or really interact with the kid other then some mindless staring.
But he couldn't help but see himself in a kid that young, having the childhood he never did.
Ofcourse the child can't keep her mouth shut and Silas does eventually get discovered by a team of researchers. Though these ones unlikely institute don't contain him and actually treat him like a normal living being.
Silas was actually a child when he was sold to the institute, only 13.
His parents got a good hunk of cash for him too, he was on the verge of death anyways.
Having always hung out in the woods with his friends after school he contacted a hybrid specific parasite which, to the unmutated human body is deadly.
The institute pulled the whole "We can save him and make his life better" shebang and his family believed it.
Little did they know they wouldn't see him again for a little over 12 years.
In those 12 years Silas endures the change from human to hybrid, which for the species' he consists of, was highly painful and severely traumatizing.
The institute does still shut down like in his original blurb (that can be seen on his toyhouse), but Silas is actually left there. Due to the nature of his hybridizing he was seen as violent and unpredictable which made him unsuitable for transport to the currently unknown location of the new institute.
With how medical places are often demo'ed, no one bothered to go in and see if anything was still in there, regardless of living being or not.
The place was likely riddled with biotoxins anyways since it doesn't get demoed for a couple years after it goes abandoned.
Building go boom.
Bomb demo, to smelter anything that was still living inside of it.
no he's not dead.
Silas hellhound DNA fosters fire imunity since hellhounds are the guardians of hell and are often seen riddled in flames and mostly black fur.
This is where he becomes part wraith.
Buried in rubble, hundreds of thousands of pounds of blown concrete and metal.
But he still, doesn't die.
Wraiths are seen as people too stubborn to die or vengeful spirits, in silas' case, both.
Given the biotoxicity of the rubble despite being quite literally blown to bits the remainders of the building were sent to be properly destroyed to keep any left behind hybrid stuff from getting out in the world.
Little did they know there was a living one.
Still in there.
And they freed it when loading rubble into trucks .
Silas isn't seen as a violent being despite the stories that surround both hellhounds and wraiths in folklore, both are seen as vengeful and signs of death.
Which, yeah that's still true with him, but deep down, that heart of the child he used to be is still there.
