It was an exciting day.
Pearl, who’d been mindlessly puppeteered by White Diamond for so long, was being returned to her diamond. Of course, she knew that Pink Diamond was different now; she was Steven (whatever that meant). Pearl knew that Steven was different than Pink Diamond, having been given the quickest of rundowns from Blue and Yellow Pearl. While she wasn’t sure she fully understood what they even meant, she was excited to have control of herself back.
The pink gem was standing as straight as she possibly could as she was escorted to Steven’s quarters by her fellow pearls. The excitement of this development had her nearly shaking, though she tried not to show it.
The moment the door opened to the tower room, Pearl curtsied deeply before looking at Steven with her one working eye. “Hello, My Steven.” She spoke, before standing back up straight.
The young boy was absolutely overcome with excitement. His eyes shining like stars before he was presented with his pearl but to be fair he had been brimming with excitement ever since the news of finally being given a pearl was announced by his grandma white diamond. Once steven laid his eyes on her he giggled happily before literally running into her arms.
Attacking the pearl with a bear hug. It may have startled her at first due to the suddenness of it but most likely she would feel at ease looking at his happy expression. "It's really you! Pink pearl! You were my mom's pearl and now you're mine!" He pulled away but grasped both of her hands. "You're perfect! You're pink and pretty! Plus you got my name right on the first try! You won't believe how long it took for the diamonds to call me steven. Anyway it's really nice to meet you!"

The rather stiff pearl was caught off-guard by Steven suddenly hugging her. After a second, Pearl let out a small chuckle and returned his smile. She was surprised by how excited Steven was to see her and it reminded her of when she was first introduced to Pink Diamond. While she didn’t remember that time too clearly, she did remember the way Pink had squealed and clung to her in a similar manner.
When Steven called her perfect, the Pearl couldn’t help but smile at him. She knew that she wasn’t perfect — she was damaged. That was why she had been taken by White Diamond in the first place.
“It’s nice to meet you as well, My Steven.” Pearl said, curtsying again.
The young boy was still giggling excitedly as he clung to her side. So overcome with joy that he floated in the air a bit before having to set himself back down. "The diamonds told me you were my mom's old pearl! That's great cause I really wanna learn more about her! Oh did you play games with her? Cause I really like playing games! Have you ever played hide and seek? I'm pretty good at hiding if I do say so myself." He declared pressing a hand to his chest.
Pearl smiled at the excitement that Steven was exhibiting. It really did remind her of Pink Diamond and the way that she had acted when they had first met.
“I did play with her.” Pink Pearl replied with a small nod. She let out a small laugh at the thought of Steven playing hide and seek. That was a game that she and Pink Diamond would play pretty regularly. “I have played hide and seek. My Diamond loved playing games like that, though she was quite bad at hiding.” She shared.
"Really?" He had just heard how amazing his mom was from blue. Yellow and white didn't really talk about her much and when they did they seemed really sad. Which was understandable. She was gone now and there was nothing that could be done to bring her back. "I bet I can be really good at hiding!" He wasn't exactly sure if blue was letting him win at his games or not. "Okay close your eyes and count to ten."
“Really.” Pearl replied, smiling as she thought about it. Pink Diamond seemed to really underestimate how tall she actually was, therefore Pearl was able to find her nearly every time.
Once told to start counting by Steven, Pearl closed her eye and covered her face with her hands. She started counting out loud so that Steven could hear her. “One, two, three...”
