Wildfires in northern Ontario force First Nations to flee

Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.

“I had time to run home and pack a bag and get to the beach where the boats were waiting,” said a member of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation (Collins). “We literally had minutes to get on the boats and flee before it took our town. “Once we left my house finally after packing what I could in a pack sack, the fire was right behind our place. We had to run to the beach and once we got there, it was only moments before the fire had jumped over the (train) track and was coming for us.”

Now that everyone is discussing Nolan's Odyssey movie, I feel like it's a good time to let non-Italians know that the production dumped plastic props into the Italian sea. Weirdly enough I could not find any article in English about it but it's a fucking problem nonetheless.

honestly, i'm a huge fan of the fridge! pain in the ass to clean, though. i'd maybe be more of an air fryer fan if ours didn't emit a burnt olive oil smell from a previous mishap...

#5: what's your favourite piece of furniture and where did you get it?

might be kind of Basic but my kallax shelves from ikea! i have a big 4x3 one that i have a bunch of my old textbooks and craft books in, and two 4x1's where i keep other books and some bins for random shit. i have one of them set up horizontally with some pillows and mats on top to make a window seat for my cats!

#17: are you a member of any clubs or associations?

not really at the moment! there's a couple different craft clubs that i've been wanting to check out, but i keep ending up with schedule conflicts and making excuses to not go... i'm also kind of interested in joining the local chapter of the astronomical society, but idk

#29: do you have houseplants and how are you at keeping them alive?

i have an african violet that my mom bought me as a dorm-warming gift when i went to toronto for my summer research term! it was doing mostly fine but i think it needs to be repotted soon...
