The Silken Windhound

Celebrating the American Sighthound! Silken Windhounds are a breed developed in the early 80's in Texas. The foundation of the breed comes from Borzoi, Whippets, and Longhaired Whippets (Whippets crossed with Shelties). The breed is recognized by the UKC and is in the process of being AKC recognized. Silkens are smaller than borzoi, larger than whippets, and have a single layered coat that comes in a wide color variety. Silkens can be reliable off leash, aren't aloof, and easier to train.
