Indefinite Hiatus
Hi cricket fam its time for an announcement that’s been a long time coming.
We’re out. Picking up and leaving. Dropping everything and running. Leaving confusing metaphors in our wake.
Undoubtedly you’ve noticed we’ve been around less and less this year and we see no time in the future when we’ll be turning that around. Final year uni got us busy and this blog was the first thing that got fumbled in our efforts to survive. Full time work and masters degrees and trips abroad mean that we know we aren’t coming back.
We aren’t deleting though! We’ve had far too much fun over the last two and a half years to lose all our content and conversations. But there isn’t going to be anything new. We will probably still blog occasionally on our personal blogs about cricket stuff, but probably only liveblogging and not nearly enough content to justify having a whole blog. Most of you we chat with on the regular have our personal blogs, but if you don’t we’ll still be checking messages for the next few weeks so ask for URLs and ye shall receive.
Few things to get off our chests before we go. Generally, its been a lot of fun. We’ve met some really great people, made friends, and its because of this we’ve stuck around as long as we have. But we’ve also had a lot of shit that started to drive us away from the fandom. Firstly the general dumb hate messages we get every now and again, but that comes with the territory I suppose. Secondly, that everyone here has wildly different opinions on players and teams and umpiring decisions WHICH IS COOL, all totally kosher. But the way people seem to interact when it comes to these differences can get pretty nasty. The world cup springs immediately to mind. That was definitely the beginning of the end for us, and now here we are at the end of the end.
We are a little sad to go, but also kind of relieved. We both felt a little guilty for the neglect of this blog and our followers and all the half-finished and un-started content we’ve thought of over time. But one has to know when to leave, and for us that’s now.
You kids all be good to each other now.
