YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE AND YOUR VOICE IN GOVERNMENT IS YOUR VOTE.

WHAT A DAY
DHS’ top statistician resigned over the weekend, citing the Trump administration’s radical immigration agenda. “I’m thrilled to end my relationship with the current administration,” Marc Rosenblum wrote on LinkedIn. “Between the war on immigrants, the war on feds, and the war on facts (not to mention the crazy war in Iran and the brazen corruption), I just need a change.” You also need a drink!
On that note, the Trump administration has arrested some 12,000 migrant children and sponsors thanks to tips — from the U.S. government office intended to help resettle refugees fleeing dangerous situations in their home countries, Reuters reports. For instance, one 6-year-old girl spent more than six months in a child migrant center while her mother, who was already in the United States, worked to get her released. Days after the mother and daughter were reunited, ICE arrested them and sent them to a detention center, the outlet reports.
How much lower can we go?

Times Exclusive:
A bill in Louisiana started out as a tax rebate for fiber-optic equipment. By the time it became law, it had become applicable to data centers and enabled Meta to start a project big enough to cover nearly six square miles.

The House voted a second time to direct Trump to end the war or seek explicit authorization to continue it.
“We’re trapped in hell”: Iranians say the war has upended their lives.

officials acknowledged that they canceled billions of dollars in grants to states “based solely” on the fact that Trump did not win them in 2024 .

Trump’s rush to take delivery of his new Qatari-donated Air Force One jet led to ballooning costs and safety trade-offs, a Times investigation found.
Times Exclusive: A credible threat from Iranian proxies is what prompted Trump to switch planes when leaving Turkey earlier this month.
A small amount of good new… but GOOD NEWS AT THAT!!
WHAT A DAY
The Trump administration withdrew subpoenas it had issued to three New York Times journalists, who had published details about the security capabilities (or lack thereof) aboard his Qatari Air Force One. In a tense court hearing today, a federal judge slammed government lawyers:
“Subpoenas are the last step, not the first step, but the last step,” he said. The First Amendment wins again!
When will this republican majority house and senate grow spines and stop this lame duck president?
I’ve lost ALL RESPECT for Republicans now!!
WHAT A DAY
What does Trump supposedly want? In short: More oil, and fewer nukes. What are his policies doing? Endangering oil supplies, and encouraging nuclear development.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen are threatening to shut down a shipping lane in the Red Sea. Oil prices hit $100 per barrel today, marking their highest point in two months. And Trump is now behind a plan to ship nuclear materials to Saudi Arabia and give the country a pathway to enrichment, easing its course towards one day (maybe) making a weapon.
The nuclear deal, in particular, has sparked intense angst among Trump’s allies, who fear that he might ignite a new nuclear arms race. The 30-year arrangement reportedly requires Saudi Arabia to use only American companies (cha-ching!) to build a civilian nuclear program. But the Saudis have long threatened to build a nuke of their own if Iran acquires one. And Trump may give the Kingdom the keys to a weapon.
“This is a terrible idea,” James Acton, a leading expert on nuclear proliferation, told What A Day. “If you have an enrichment plant up and running, you can build enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in days.”

The chamber also approved a $1.15 trillion military spending bill over the opposition of Democrats, who said backing it was akin to embracing the war in Iran. Without significant revisions, it lacks votes to pass in the Senate.
One can hope the Republican senators grow spines!!
One can only hope some of these Republican senators grow spines!!
NYTIMES
The House adopted Republicans’ $95 billion budget plan to fund the war in Iran and impose new voting restrictions demanded by President Trump. It could face an uphill battle in the Senate.
But not the entire Federal administration? What about the Executive and Supreme Court justices?

Also passed in the House: a bill to limit stock trading by members of Congress.
WHAT IS FASCISM?
“Democrats are patriots who love this country enough to fight for it. We are fighting to make it easier for people to afford groceries. We’re fighting to try to make it easier for people to afford rent, prescription drugs, and health care. And we will not be lectured by a fascist Republican party that offers the American people nothing but lies, fear, endless culture wars, and tax breaks for billionaires.” --Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA)
The political ideology called fascism grew out of World War I, when former socialist Benito Mussolini rejected the equality that defined democracy and came to believe that a few leaders must take a nation toward progress by directing the actions of the rest. These men must organize the people as they had been organized during wartime, ruthlessly suppressing all opposition and directing the economy so that businessmen and politicians worked together. And, logically, that select group of leaders would elevate a single man, who would become an all-powerful dictator. To weld their followers into an efficient machine, they demonized opponents into an “other” that their followers could hate. --Heather Cox Richardson.
