Avengers: Endgame alternate ending where Thor gets hold of the gauntlet in the final fight to snap instead of Tony, and when he snaps, he doesn’t just wipe out Thanos’ army. With that agonizing flick of his fingers, he brings back all of Asgard and the dead Asgardians as well – both those killed by Thanos and by Hela. The gauntlet burns and shrivels his arm in the process, and while he survives, he ends up losing the arm (leaving him looking like comics!Thor–)

(Also he doesn’t dust Thanos but leaves him for Nebula and Gamora to finish off. He’s had his turn before, it’s time they get theirs. And as he staggers back to his feet, Bucky immediately points out that if he’s in the market for an arm, he knows a gal.)

The effect of Thanos’ forces turning to ash is easy enough to observer, but Thor doesn’t know if his snap worked to bring Asgard back as well until he looks up and, warily, calls out Heimdall’s name…

…And the bifrost opens.

He smiles to his friends, then takes the bridge back to the newly restored realm eternal. His friends are all there on the bridge waiting for him, and through the crowd, a familiar lean figure steps forward, smirking.

“I told you the sun would shine on us again,” Loki remarks, before Thor crushes the breath out of him in an embrace.

The king is returned. And the sun shines on Asgard in the dawn of a new age.

The thing in the dark

I was sound asleep when the sound of loud pounding at the door awoke me. I tried to move to get out of bed only to find I couldn't, it was like my entire body was made of cement I couldn't even wiggle my fingers or toes. The harsh rapping at the door continued and it was then I noticed the dark figure at the side of my bed slowly shaking their head, though I could make out no defining features such as a mouth or eyes I could feel the intensity of it's stare as it leaned closer. "Don't answer it," it whispered, it's voice grating and harsh. I tried to speak, to scream, to form some response only to find my voice didn't seem to work as no sound came out no matter how hard I tried. "It's waiting on the other side," the being whispered again as the booming sounds grew more determined at the door and I could now make out the sound of the door knob being jiggled in an attempt of whoever, or whatever, was on the other side of it trying to get in. I felt a sense of fear and dread settle in my stomach even more intense then what the shadowed figure at my side caused. This was a dream, it had to be, a nightmare if anything else, but the rotted stench of the shadow's breath as it leaned closer to me had me believing otherwise. It's cold dark hand slowly slithered over my silenced mouth as it once more issued it's warning. "Don't open it, don't call out for it, it waits on the other side." Then just as quickly as it'd all seemed to start it stopped, the knocking ceased and the figure disappeared. I released a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding and I could now move every part of my body as I quickly scrambled upright flipping on the lamp beside my bed as my eyes scanned the room around me to see no one. Though I dared not move far from the bed. "A nightmare, just a nightmare," I said softly in attempt to reassure myself though my voice felt rough in my throat. After a while I managed to drift off into a fretful sleep once more having managed to nearly forget the whole thing by the time the next day rolled around. I was sitting at my desk finishing up a report on my computer when a harsh knock sounded at the door. I got up and headed over to see who it could be though froze my hand inches from the door knob, a sinking feeling of dread in my gut as my eyes scanned the note on the door, Don't open it, written in bold text. "It was just a dream," I tried to assure myself. My hands shaking as the door knob jiggled and a cold hand slowly slid it's way around my mouth. A rotten stench filling my nose as I felt the thing lean towards me. "I warned you."
