WELCOME TO CHICAGO. The man in front of you is either one of two things: your boss, an ambitious man that you’ve glorified for as long as you can remember. Or he’s your worst enemy, the man that you had been working tirelessly to bring down. He leans forward, a silver pistol lodged into your mouth. You can taste the metal on your tongue. There’s no point in begging. He’s already made up his mind, and still - he smiles, frigidly and maliciously before asking you one question…

Hey. Some of you guys might remember us from a few years. Silver or Lead had an amazing run the first time around. I was so in love with the idea of the group, I just had to bring it back. A new, revamped version of Silver or Lead is coming soon. Go find us on the new page.
WELCOME TO NEW YORK. The man in front of you is either one of two things: your boss— an ambitious, highly respected figure that you’ve glorified for as long as you can remember. Or he’s your worst enemy. The elusive, deadly individual that you’ve worked tirelessly to bring down. He leans forward, silver pistol lodged inside of your mouth. You can taste the metal on your tongue. There’s no point in begging. He’s already made up his mind. And still, he smiles, calmly— leans forward coldly before asking you just onequestion—
SILVER OR LEAD?
Silver or Lead is a literate, crime based roleplay that follows two feuding families. New York finds itself divided among two very different families. The Aldersons are discreet in their business ventures. If they want you dead, they do so quietly. The Castillos are impulsive, loud whenever provoked. If you die by their hand, the whole world knows who pulled the trigger. Both families are conquers by nature, but when the DEA sets up a permanent base in New York City, things seem to complicate themselves further.
No one knows how the war will end. It’s already taken so much, from so many people. Regardless of how things end, God help those caught in the crossfire.
COMING SOON.
To show your interest and support, please like/reblog this post. Once we reach 30 followers, we will release the completed plot and character list.
Feel free to join the discussion using #sol:talk. We’ll be posting updates, character teasers, and more in that tag.

If it's not too personal, what happened to Merlyn? Is she okay?
I’m not too sure, to be honest. She hasn’t been on her personal or anything in a while. I know she gets super busy around this time of year with her theatre productions. She’s always welcome back at Silver or Lead, and her characters will be retired until/if she ever decides to come back!
Hey guys! I hope you all are having a very spooky Halloween! I just wanted to drop by the main and make a couple of announcements.
First and foremost, I will be cracking down on activity now that I have more time. I was out of town for the last five days, so I was unable to log in and send out activity checks. However, it looks like a lot of our members on a hiatus might not be coming back. This time around, I'll be handling the activity issue in a different way.
Basically, if you'd like to keep your character(s), please like this post. The deadline to like this post will be (11/04). After this, if you want your character(s) back, you’ll need to audition again.
Next, this roleplay will be changing significantly. I am now admining by myself. Since I'm incredibly busy with work and school, I'll be looking into taking on a new co-admin to help me write biographies, update the promo blog, and make sure things are running smoothly whenever I'm unable to be here. The admin structure isn't the only thing that's changing, though.
In the coming days, I'll be working on a plot drop that will change the game of the roleplay drastically. While the dash might be slow, I'm hoping to release a new batch of biographies and do a second opening sometime in mid November.
As always, thank you guys for being incredible members. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever!
A lot of our members, including my co-admin. I’m not cracking down on activity again until after I return from a trip this weekend. It’s not fair for me to badger people for activity when I won’t be consistent until after Halloween.
Congratulations, Bay! You’ve been accepted as Tatiana Holder. Please submit your account to the main within 24 hours. We can’t wait to start writing with you!

ACTIVITY
My activity has been shitty (non-existent, basically) due to my broken ankle and everything happening, but I am truly going to fix that. I love this rp and everyone with all of my heart; I would love to have a second chance at being a member of this beautiful rp. Tata is my baby and I want to help her grow as a character. I am not going to be picking up any characters after her, though. Not for a very long time, or at all. I’ve taken a medical withdrawal from school and should be returning to college in January while my ankle is healing, so I’m going to have time to be on and I don’t see my doctor again until mid-November.
If by some chance I am able to return to the rp (I can’t remember when acceptances are?? I’m so sorry), I’m going to be in Florida until Monday next week and won’t be back home officially later Tuesday. I’m in Orlanda due to my little sister’s Make A Wish and we’re spending most of our time at Disney World, Universal Studios, and roaming Give Kids The World, but I’m going to try to find time to be on when I can, which will mostly be at night when possible (except Friday night; we’re going to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!!!! I’m so excited!!).
TRIGGERS
Spiders, ugh.
ANYTHING ELSE
Please don’t hate me, guys… I’m going to do better this time. I promise.

CHARACTER DESIRED
Tata Holder
DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER IN YOUR OWN WORDS
Nope, I am not gonna copy and paste what I wrote about her the first time. That’s too easy.
Alright, so here’s the thing about Tata: When she was a baby, her’s and her three brother’s (Julían [5], Joquin [10], and Diego [15]) father had died. It was a tragedy, but no one would tell Tata about how he died; All of her brother’s know how and why, yet they made a promise with their mother, María, to never tell her. She never knew that her father was partners with her soon-to-be stepfather, Matías Reyes, and that Santiago Posada was killed by the DEA in a crossfire down in Mexico City and that Matías had tried to save Santiago and three other of their men, but couldn’t.
Another thing that she didn’t know until she was older: Matías had adopted her and her brothers so that they would have his last name and for her to never know about the truth of her real father. It wasn’t until she was thirteen when she accidentally learn about her birth father and the adoption. Tatiana had demanded from her mother and her, apparently, stepfather the truth about everything. They told her that Santiago was a hero, that he was a firefighter who tried to save a group of people in a burning building but didn’t survive. Luckily for her parents and brothers, she believed them.
Believing this lie, she began to want to also help people; To carry on her father’s legacy as a selfless, compassionate person. (If only she knew the truth.) She began to volunteer at orphanages, soup kitchens, shelter homes, and such. At the age of fifteen, a man and his son moved in next door; Two Americans, and they had automatically caught her interest. More so, the son caught her interest.
Jamie Holder was, without a doubt, the weirdest yet most enduring person Tatiana Reyes ever met. She became friends with him and had discover so many things about the boy: He knew Spanish fluently and had moved around due to his father’s work; His father was a DEA agent and was targeting Matías and her brothers (she, of course, knew about them being in a cartel and, truth to be told, didn’t really support it); and that she would want him to be a part of her life forever.
To her surprise, they fell in love while his father was trying to catch her stepfather and brothers. Her family were beyond bewildered when they discovered about the teenagers being lovers, a few even trying to separate them, but she absolutely refused; He is her true love. Jamie wasn’t her first love, nor her first kiss nor the first boy to ever have sex with her; But she was certain that he was going to be her last everything.
After his father caught her stepfather and brothers, they continued on with their love. It wasn’t until she was eighteen and he was twenty-one when the two got married, their friends and family (well, the family on her side that supported or were at least tolerable and/or neutral with their love) were there. The whole event was beautiful and Tatiana knew that she would do anything to continue on her fairy tale with Jamie.
That all meant moving to Philly with him, learning English for him, going to college and getting a degress in nursing so that she may also have a job like him, and practically removing a small part of herself, a small part of her old life, so that she may be with him. Tata was willing to give up anything and had basically given up everything so that she may be with him.
And yet, there is something strange with Jamie, something not right. It wasn’t until she smell someone else’s perfume on him the first time when her suspicions began: He was cheating on him. It had made sense: All the late hours being at work (”work”, I should say); All the cancellations for basically everything; Never seeing each other much anymore and when they do, it is so brief and rush. They still have sex and intimate moments, but the warmth and love is either no longer there or is barely noticeable. And it scares Tata. It scares her so much, because she was so certain that he was her true love, her forever after.
Or maybe… She isn’t his true love, his forever after?
CONNECTIONS
Jamie Holder is her best friend and her husband, the man whom she considered for years to be her true love. Their love was like that of Romeo and Juliet for quiet awhile; But they’re both still very much alive and their love story is, with out, much better than those mentioned. They are so distant lately and she wants to absolutely want to end her suspicions of him cheating on her; She is willing to do anything to get her husband back.
Manolo Vásquez is, without a doubt, her rock and second best friend. They’ve grown to become brother and sister, and she is pretty sure that she wouldn’t handle quite a lot of things if it weren’t for him. Tata trusts Manny with her life and is forever grateful to have him in her life.

WRITING SAMPLE
That Friday was, without a doubt, one of the greatest days in the life of thirteen year old Tatiana Catrina Reyes. It had began with her discovering that the test she thought she bombed, she actually got an A on it. Then, it progressed to the fact that the cute girl she has a crush on had finally kissed her- well, on the cheek, that is. And then, it continued on with her finally hitting a high note for the song she’s learning for the town’s annual Festival de Navidad happening in a month.
It was, no doubt, a fantastic day.
When she arrived home, Tatiana was greated by her mother and was told about the family going out that night to celebrate her father’s newest achievement: he now has a partnership all the way in Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina. The teenager was so excited, even tough she didn’t support her father’s line of work, and headed up to her room to get ready for that night.
After some time, Tata thought that she was ready until she realized something- she wasn’t wearing her pendant. She has had it ever since she was a baby; It is so special to her. “Mierda, mierda, mierda,” she whispered, looking all over her room for the necklace. She was practically going crazy until she remembered something: She and her mother were talking last night in María’s and Matías’ room the night before and she was wearing it then. Perhaps it fell off and was in there.
She knocked on the door and afterwhile, she entered their room. She felt a bit guilty entering without their permission, but the necklace is so special to her.
As she searched the room, she stepped on a certain part on the floor and heard a creak, stopping right in her place. Tata pressed on it again, hearing the creak and furrowing her eyebrows in confussion. There was something underneath it. She got onto her knees, completely disregarding the fact that her black dress could possibly be getting dirty. She began to search for a way to open up the spot in the floor until finally, she got it.
The brunette opened it and an eyebrow raised when she saw a small gold and jewel-encrusted box in the hole that was underneath the flooring. She picked it up and dusted it off before she opened the box. Her confussion grew even more when she saw pictures of her mother and some guy in it, along with a picture of her mother on the hospital bed holding a baby, Tata’s brothers surrounding the bed and all looking happy.
And the random guy was there, too. Holding the baby’s little hand in his and looking absolutely and completely happy in the moment. It took the teenager to realize that the baby was her.
“Tatiana Catrina!”
The girl stood up quickly and turned around, seeing her mother in the doorway. María noticed the picture in her daughter’s hands and her heart broke, knowing that it was finally time to tell her the truth.
“Madre … ¿Quién es este hombre? ¿Hay algo que no me estás diciendo?” Tata asked her, curiosity and confussion coursing throughout her entire being. Her mother sighed before leaving her spot in the doorway and walking over to her daughter, gently taking her hand and leading her to the bed. “Mi querida … No es algo que hay que hablar.”
That was the day that Tatiana’s life changed forever.
EXTRAS
I DO GOT HEADCANONS THIS TIME, YES!!!!
Okay, first: Not many of Tata’s friends know, but she grew up wanting to become a singer. Her stepfather paid for her singing lessons, up until Jamie’s father put him and her brothers to jail.
My headcanon singing voice for Tata is Anna (aka annapantsu) from YouTube. Here’s an example of her voice. Whenever there’s an open mic night or any karaoke night or whatever going on around town, you can usually expect to see her there.
She feels a bit guilty about never pursuing a singing career after how much money her stepfather paid for her lessons, but every time they talk on the phone, he reassures her that he’s not angry at her for never pursing the career she originally wanted before reality took over.
Oh, yeah.
She calls her stepfather and brothers whenever she can. She doesn’t like what they were apart of for basically her entire life, but they are family and she loves them so much.
And yes, they keep on trying to convince her to divorce Jamie every single damn time they talk on the phone. And she always rolls her eyes and continues to tell them that she is not going to divorce her husband. Her mother is neutral on the whole divorce-don’t divorce debate.
She is a Libra and her birthday is October 21st, which is my mum’s birthday.
She’s learning how to do sign language and is absolutely loving it.
She’s allergic to bananas. Her family discovered this one summer day when she was a few months old and they gave her some mushed up bananas. She also says that she’s allergic to mangoes, but that is a lie; She just really hates mangoes.
For some odd reason, Tata really loves to snack on Goji berries, also known as wolfberry. It’s her favourite thing to snack on.
A/N: Hopefully this is the longest unfollow list I’ll ever have to post for Silver or Lead! Unfortunately, we’ve lost some members, but I don’t want any current members or potential applicants to feel discouraged. All in all, it was bad timing. A few of our members are on a hiatus, so the dash might be slow for a while, but this group is still very much alive.
With that being said, there are a ton of reopened biographies and upcoming characters. There’s also a very important plot drop that will take place once a decent number of characters are taken again. Admin Drea and I will be working on a second batch of characters that will be posted, hopefully, soon. In the mean time, if you have any questions or suggestions, let us know!
As always, thank you guys for being such great members and being patient with my hectic schedule these last two weeks.
Hey guys! I just wanted to address something really quickly here on the main. I want everyone to be replying to starters and interacting with other characters as much as possible. I know it’s hard because of scheduling and work and school, but starters should be responded to as often as possible.
I won’t enforce a rule where you have to respond to a certain number of starters before you post your own, because I trust y’all in just replying to them on your own. I just wanted to quickly address this on the main! Hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, let us know if you have any questions!
Appearances could be deceiving, and such deception was celebrated in the Phan household. With a mother who appeared as a housewife by day and an emotionless interrogator by night, and a father whose long business trips primarily consisted of assassinations being carried out for criminal organizations, it was no surprise that Adelisa would follow in her parents’ footsteps. The Phans valued strength and superiority above all else. Through blood, sweat, and the absence of tears (weakness was forbidden within the family, after all) Adelisa was molded by her parents into a dangerous weapon. She became the type of girl who could perform a waltz with ease and slice open your throat with the knife strapped to her thigh. She was nineteen when she began working as a mercenary, being employed both in the shadows of polite society as an assassin, and in the public eye as an undercover bodyguard for Southeast Asian businessmen, heiresses, and on one occasion even royalty. It wasn’t until Adelisa was well past her prime that the Castillo Cartel took her in permanently as a sicario. And it was within the Cartel where she found love for the first time in the form of one of her fellow sicarios, a man named Cesar.
When Adelisa discovered that she was pregnant with Cesar’s child, she swore to Gabriel Castillo himself that this changed nothing, that her loyalty remained with the Cartel. Cesar had other thoughts. Late at night he spoke about beginning an honest life for them and their child, but the only way to do so was to turn against the Cartel and go to the authorities. After months of tedious conversation, Adelisa finally agreed. What Cesar didn’t know was that Gabriel already suspected his treachery, and that their apartment was being monitored. Cesar was executed soon afterward and Adelisa was sure to be next. Frightened for her life and that of her unborn child, Adelisa returned home to the Phan manor in France. With word of the contract Gabriel Castillo put out on her head spreading like rapid fire, she begged that her parents protect them. But the birth of Adelisa’s child was a complicated one, and true to their word, Adelisa’s parents protected both mother and daughter. They gave the child up for adoption and told Adelisa that due to the nature of her pregnancy, the child had been stillborn. By the time she discovered the truth about her daughter, the damage had already been done. Her child had been adopted by a family in the United States while she hid from the Cartel overseas, but enough was enough. Hungry for revenge against Gabriel Castillo and desperate to get back the life that was stolen from her, Adelisa got on the next plane to Chicago. Somehow she would eviscerate the Cartel and she would see her baby again, even if it was only from afar.
Constantine Ionescu – Old Friend
Her initial dealings with Constantine were lighthearted and fun. They’d been friends once, when the Cartel had been of greater import to her than Cesar. When Castillo first put out the contract on her head, she’d contemplated reaching out to Constantine for help, but decided against it. The moment she received word that Constantine was in Chicago, however, she decided to reach out to him. Times like these were dangerous, and she knows that she’ll need someone on her side.
Santiago Herrera - Adversary
From the moment she met him, she knew that one day she would kill Santiago. He was arrogant. And the way he looked at her sent shivers down her spine. She knows that it was he who pulled the trigger on Cesar and that motivates her enough to make his death a slow one. Word on the street is that Santiago already knows that Adelisa is in Chicago, and that he’s hungry to take the five-hundred-thousand dollar contract Castillo put out on her.
Delphine Romero - Interest
It was Delphine’s name that Adelisa found on the documentation for her baby’s adoption. She’d researched the woman fruitlessly, coming to learn that Delphine was as clean as a whistle. Her family appeared to be a good one and from what she could tell, they would probably be able to give her daughter the world. Though Adelisa found it all too ironic to discover that Delphine’s husband was a DEA agent operating right out of Chicago, raising a killer’s child.
Constantine was only three years old when tragedy first sunk its claws into his person. Having owed a great debt to a Romanian gangster who wasn’t fond of being left high and dry, Constantine’s parents were gunned down in broad daylight. It was only out of some perverse sense of ‘mercy’ that a toddler Constantine survived the ordeal at all. With his parents six feet under and the rest of his extended family either in a grave or in prison, he was sent to live with the only family he had left: his paternal grandfather, Costea, in Moldova. Costea was notorious for his reputation as both a merciless arms trafficker and a cut-throat business associate. Taking Constantine under his wing, the boy was involved in the family business from the very beginning and much to his grandfather’s delight, he was a natural. Constantine was only nineteen when they began pulling in a revenue that could bring a tear to the eye of some of the wealthiest gangsters in their country and it was only a matter of time before they caught the interest of the Russian mob. Within the first year of their partnership with the Russians, the grandfather-grandson duo were trafficking enough weaponry to bring Hell down on anybody who dared to threaten their associates.
When Costea passed away, Constantine was distraught, but he didn’t allow this to prevent him from taking over his family’s operation. Like his grandfather before him, Constantine made an effective soldier. He was cold, obedient, ruthless. He followed his own moral code (no matter how ambiguous) and understood that in his line of work there was no room for personal affairs. Business was just business after all. However this ideology would change with a simple name: Milena. His initial infatuation with his boss’s daughter was one born of lust and desire, and he was quick to ensnare her with his charm, but it wasn’t Mila who was struck with Cupid’s arrow. No, it was Constantine. For years he tried to keep his feelings for her buried down deep, letting them only appear during the most intimate of moments. When he returned home from a business trip in the South of France, he was hurt to discover the news of Mila’s engagement to the Galvani heir. As if to add salt to his newly opened wound, his boss had a new job for him as well: Constantine was to go to Chicago immediately and ensure two things. The first, that a trafficking route in the United States could be established and made to coincide with his pre-existing European connections. And the second, to see to it that the girl he loved married another man.
Mila Kuragina – Past Lover
They had always been friends first, lovers second. Constantine knows that he was the source of Mila’s many firsts, but for the life of him, he can’t understand why she kept her arranged marriage a secret. He has his suspicions. He knows that Mila isn’t an object to be owned nor a prize to be won. Like a caged bird, she deserves to be set free, even if that means facing the fact that she might never return to him.
Adelisa Phan - Ex-Associate
He’d first met Adelisa two years ago over a business trip to Columbia during her initial stint as a sicario in the Castillo Cartel. With a shared interest in weaponry and combat, it was no surprise that he and Adelisa became fast friends. He hasn’t spoken to her since she disappeared over ten months ago, and was surprised when Adelisa reached out to him when he first arrived in Chicago. He has questions for her and he wants answers. Like why it is that the Cartel put out a contract for her head: marking her as a traitor.
