The ten episode arc of The Emerald City absolutely floored me. Adding depth to characters while keeping almost all of them somewhat similar to the books. Ending pre-tornado with the trio (scarecrow, lion, tinman (Jack) And illusions to the part where home isn't quite home... Just stunning. I'm hoping the beast forever is someone that can be defeated with a chicken, is all I'm saying.

Watching Emerald City has me torn. On the one hand, Ozma was the female hero that proved to me a girl could be strong and rule with strength. On the other hand, the mass gender transformation acceptance from the books always bothered me, even as a child. Perhaps Tip can be for others what Ozma is/was for me, and many others at the time. I've heard many tell that Ozma was a reassurance for trans individuals, that they could identify with her and feel like they too were under a spell of the wrong gender. So I support Tip however he seems fit to present himself. Should he chose to remain a boy, change to a girl or become neither/both I will support them. And I expect the same of everyone in oz and at home watching

Every time Tip and The Wizard are near each other my heart skips a beat out of fear. Props to a show that can make the half of the audience who knows what's coming just as nervous as those who don't

Basically confirmed: one of the reasons the wizard hates magic is because a native woman used it to "overshadow" his science abilities (and white savior "I'm going to change the lives of these people" complex) The wizard is a fuckboy who is sad that his averageness was not deemed exemplary by the women around him confirmed. (Bonus: the one of Glinda's aides that he slept with probably did so to gain his secrets not cause he liked him)

The wizard asking Dorothy to kill Glinda makes more sense, she's a formidable foe. (Not that the wicked witch of the west wasn't, but she was an issue in the books because Oz had no power, while even if Oz was an average power Oz witch he would be SCREWED against Glinda)

The Rules of Mortality/Death in The Emerald City

I do want to understand the death rules of oz in The Emerald City-the books started with a high risk of death which changed when SOMEONE (don't want to potentially spoil it) became ruler. Because a lot of the books and timelines are converging, it is still a bit unclear what the risk of death is (opposed to torture or whatnot in a body that cannot die) At this time I think that death is still portrayed as high risk (usual mortality) although some beings may have different rules about they ways they can or cannot die
