How to start building your author platform? I'm sharing my top 5 tips 👇

A few days ago I wrote an article about building an author platform with what I believe are 5 of the most important tips. And today I want to share these tips with you.

TIP 1 Start ASAP

Don't wait ti publish several books. The moment you publish your first book you need to have an audience and it will be too late to start building it then. Start NOW.

TIP 2: Don't try to be everywhere

Choose one main marketing channel (YouTube, podcast, blog) and one social media channel.

TIP 3: Don't follow the trends

This may seem counterintuitive, but listen to your heart and have in mind where are your strengths.

TIP 4: Create a website

Creating a website is one of the wisest things you can do. Many say it's not necessary. I believe this is the best place to show yourself.

TIP 5: Build an email list

I previously talked about email lists and I know everyone is saying this. But it's really important. You don't own YouTube or Instagram but you own your email list!

Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time with planning YouTube videos and blog posts instead of writing. But I soon realize that if I want to be a full-time writer I need to spend time for other things like content marketing and course creation.

WHY I LOVE GOOGLE DRIVE FOR NOVEL WRITING⠀

These are 5 reasons why I love using Google Drive to write my novel:⠀

1️⃣ IT SAVES MY WORK AUTOMATICALLY.⠀

I don't have to think about saving my work anymore. All Google Drive apps are saving all the changes the moment you're writing.⠀

2️⃣ I CAN WORK FROM ANYWHERE.⠀

The most important thing for me is to be able to work from anywhere. I travel a lot and sometimes I can't take my laptop with me or can't use it. Being able to write on my phone or tablet is really a gamechanger.⠀

3️⃣ GOOGLE DRIVE SAVES ALL VERSIONS OF MY DOCUMENTS.⠀

And it does it automatically. Every time I open a document, a new version is automatically created. I can change the name of the versions or just use the default system which names them with the date and time the version is created.⠀

4️⃣ IT'S EASIER THAN EVER TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS.⠀

I can share my documents with ease and define the rules who can do what with the documents. I can set some people to can only comment or suggest edits.⠀

This is a great option to share my work with beta-readers, editors or co-authors.⠀

5️⃣ I DON'T NEED TO DOWNLOAD PHOTOS AND THEN UPLOAD THEM.⠀

When you create a document in Google Drive you can search for photos from within the doc itself and just import it. No need to download it first and then upload it again to your document.⠀

You’re not.

You’re tired. You’re stretched thin. You’re brain is fried. But you are NOT failing.

YOU. ARE. NOT. FAILING.

And the pursuit of your dreams isn’t in vain. Progress when we’re in the middle of it looks like we’re not moving at all. It feels like you’ve taken a huge step and you look down and see you’ve barely scooted your foot.

Don’t give up. This is the part where most people do. They see their progress stall or they hit a road bump or they see the road looks longer and more challenging than they thought and they stop, turn back, and walk away.

DON’T. DO. IT.

I’m here to be that slap in the face, because I’ve been there, and I still get there sometimes. Because dreams and achieving them are HARD. They’re EXHAUSTING. But they’re also what makes you wake up every morning and continue on because you can’t NOT do it.

DON’T GIVE UP

Because at the end of the day this dream of yours–this burning passion that feeds your soul–is something that will change the lives of many that you haven’t even met yet.

I'm so tired. Itravelled a little more than 700 km. Half of them on Sunday, half of them today. It's so damn hard! Having a job that you have to travel every other week and be away from my husband is my mist hated thing in the world. For me, it's to be with my husband, my family, and friends, to travel to different places, and seal every special moment 📸

For a long time, I didn't realize that if I want to be happy I need to define what does happiness means to me.

For every one of you, it might be a totally different thing and it should be.

And when you know what makes you happy you need to start working for your happiness.

Every decision you make, every task you write in your planner must be with only one purpose - to get you closer to your ideal vision of happiness.

Everything else is meaningless.

Another photo, another exhibition! . I love to take photos since I was a child. But as a grew I started to be more interested in photography. . Now I put some of my photos on Unsplash and Pexels for people to download them. But I'm also participating in different contests. . That's why I love @gurushots The app seems more like a game but you can actually win different rewards for your photos and also participate in exhibitions if your photo is good enough 😊 . And here it is. The email that tells me that my photo will participate in an exhibition. I believe this is the 4th exhibition I'm participating. . What's different about this one is that it will be in Sofia, where I live so I can actually go and see my photo in the gallery 🤗 .
