Sims 4 Custom Plumbob Tutorial
Few people have asked me to make a tutorial after I made my plumbob so I'll try my best to explain(´。• ◡ •。`)
Step 1: You'll need to have some kind of mesh. Whether you made it or imported it from somewhere doesn't matter. If you're using blender 3-4 make sure to export your mesh as an obj.
Next Step is to open Sims 4 Studio and under object select override and then click object.
After everything is loaded, click the check box for debug then search plumbob. Select the first plumbob you see. When you hover over it, it should say something like "pc plumbob me". After you select it click next and name your package file.
Next, navigate to meshes and export the lod 0.
Open the plumbob in Blender 2.79 then import your mesh.
After that, select your mesh and press tab. On the UV map side, scroll till you see a square. Click it. If everything is not selected, press "A" so everything is selected.
Navigate to the bottom and select mesh (while still in edit mode) and press "normals" and "reticulate outside". That way it won't be see through.
Press Tab to go back into object mode and size your plumbob accordingly.
Next click the "studio_mesh_0" and using the arrows, move it to the side(or hit "g" then "x") Make sure its a nice distance away from your mesh.
While still selecting the studio mesh, hold shift and click on your mesh. Then, press ctrl j to merge them together. If your mesh changes color, you did it right. Next press tab and to deselect everything press "A". Next press the square with little dots on it.
After that, press "B" and select the other plumbob. Hit delete or x and select delete faces.
After that press that square again and hit "A" to select everything. After everything is selected, go to the uv side and press new. For regular texture "1024 x 1024" for HQ "2048 x 2048".
Make sure this is set to 0.
Press tab to get out of edit mode and click the the little spear next to that triangle. Press the minus to get rid of the other plumbobs texture and press the + to add your own.
Play around with these settings if you want to. If you plan on texturing outside of Blender, I'd just recommend to have a white base to work with.
After that click on the camera icon and change the margin size to like 5 and I like to hit normalized. Make sure ambient occlusion is selected (or you can play around with that too) then hit bake.
Once the image is done baking🍪click image then click save as image.
Once the image is saved, save your plumbob. (I recommend hitting save as instead of save so you won't override the ea plumbob in case you wanna use it again :))
Next import your mesh into that package file we created. Import it into both LOD and Shadow. Head over to the Texture tab and import that baked texture into the diffuse section.
Now for the other two, I have blanks you can download and use. click me The blue one goes into the cube one and the yellow one goes into the refraction one.
You can test your plumbob in game and adjust the size and stuff in blender if needed.
Last thing to do is texture it and put the package file into your game and boom! You just made yourself a custom plumbob!ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧ Do lmk if you have any questions(..◜ᴗ◝..)
‼️Also you can only have ONE plumbob at a time. So make sure whatever custom plumbob you have, take it out before trying yours‼️
