Kailani does not slow down as she rushes out the door. Poseidon quickly follows her, but she does not stop no matter how many times he calls for her.

Poseidon: 'Please don't leave me alone again.'

He always hates to see her leave, but tonight she takes a piece of his heart with her.

Without warning, Kailani pulls back and jumps up, already moving towards the door.

Poseidon: "Kani? What happened?"

Kailani: "I'm sorry. I...I have to go."

Poseidon: "Wait! Talk to me!"

All too soon, he feels her start to pull back, an apology already starting to slip out. Poseidon, however, is not ready to let go. He puts his hand in her hair and pulls her back down, deepening the kiss as he does. This moment could last a lifetime and would still be over too soon.

Kailani finally leans over and kisses him. Poseidon is immediately filled with relief that they are finally being honest about their feelings and the joy of finally getting to kiss her. One thought, though, is screaming louder than any other: I AM KISSING KAILANI!

Poseidon: "Thank you"

Suddenly all of the tension from earlier comes back. Poseidon can barely breath as he waits for her to make the first move, knowing that he seemed to have scared her off the first time.

Poseidon: 'Please kiss me. Please'

Kailani stares at him for a minute with an expression that he can only describe as confused.

Poseidon: "Not enough sims have told you that if you are shocked to hear about how gorgeous you are."

Kailani: "Y-You are gorgeous too."

They are officially up way past the time Poseidon usually goes to sleep. He's trying to stay focused on their conversation, but he can feel his tiredness erase his filter.

Poseidon: "You're so beautiful."

Kailani: "What?"

Poseidon: "I've wanted to say that for so long."

They find a movie to watch and Poseidon enjoys the feeling of sitting on the couch with her. They can't stay quiet for long though so pretty quickly they fall back into easy conversation. At some point, they forget that they were even watching a movie.

Kailani tugs on his ear, making them both laugh as they release the tension of the moment.

Kailani: "Can we watch a movie or something? A funny one to lighten the mood?"

Poseidon: "Sure, let's look at what's playing."

He pulls back to look at her, thankful when the tears come with a smile.

Kailani: "I'm really glad that you're here."

Poseidon: "I'm glad you're here too."

As they stare into each other's eyes, the room suddenly feels charged. They stay locked into the moment until he leans in and she pulls away.

Kailani: "Thank you for caring, Posy."

Poseidon: "You're my best friend, Kani. I will always care about you."

They hold each other for longer than seems necessary when Poseidon feels a tear fall onto his shoulder.

Poseidon: "I'm sorry if I overstepped. I only want to see you be happy."

Kailani: "I know, but honoring my family will make me happy in the long run."

Poseidon desperately wants to say more, but he can tell that the conversation isn't going anywhere. They sit quietly for a while until Kailani pulls him in for a hug.

Poseidon: "You're really going to give up your dreams to appease your dad?"

Kailani: "This is why I said it doesn't matter. My family is more important to me than any silly fantasies. Sure, it was fun to play around with these ideas as a teen, but that's not my reality, okay?"

Poseidon: "You've looked into these courses, haven't you?"

Kailani: "I was looking into the algae bloom and saw it would take a lot of research to fix."

Poseidon: "Have you talked to your dad about it?"

Kailani: "It's a fantasy that I don't like to dwell on because it's not going to happen. My dad hates scientists anyway so the idea of me..."

Poseidon: "And your dad wouldn't agree?"

Kailani: "He would love to see the island restored, but not for me to spend all of my time working on it. The problems are much deeper than just organizing trash pickups. It requires taking courses to look into solving things like the algae bloom."

Kailani sits quietly for long enough that Poseidon is afraid he went too far.

Kailani: "I want...I want to help the island heal. Mua Pel'am in particular is so damaged by sims that only outcasts live out here. There used to be a thriving community and sea turtles used to nest out here. I want to bring it back."
