Maybe I wouldn’t have been as kind, as empathetic, as sensitive if the wound didn’t enter me. Maybe I’d be less willing to learn and grow and to forgive and to accept. I also, could have been an even better person than I am; but here I am now.

There’s such a big push on mens mental health when mental health awareness was never inherently female-centric anyway.

When men say ‘men’s mental health isn’t talked about enough’ they mean, ‘women aren’t focusing on me.’ Because mental health awareness and advocacy has never been about just women, it’s been about everyone, it always has.

In my nearly 14 years of being mentally ill, I’ve always known that the information I’ve seen and been given has been generalised and generic for everyone.

There’s no push on specifically women’s mental health. There’s no signs that are saying ‘ONLY WOMENS MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!’ Men don’t want to talk about their mental health because of OTHER men. It’s men that are stopping men from being mentally well.

And let’s be honest, how much does mens mental health come down to their hatred of women? There’s no denying that a lot of men are depressed because of circumstances that don’t include women; but a large number of men use their mental health to guilt trip women into having sex with them or spending time with them.

Listen, I don’t think it’s right that this woman was rude to him; as a retail work I also want to be treated with respect and kindness. That being said, when a customer is rude to me, I don’t respond with misogynistic taunts and anger. I just let it go.

My abuser was a woman and she didn’t make me hate ALL women. She made me hate her, not because she was a woman, but because she was an abuser. She was MY abuser.

Men get rejected by one woman and turn to raging misogynists. Sometimes they don’t even get rejected; they make up imaginary scenarios in their head involving women to get angry over. They learn from their misogynistic peers and guardians that ALL women are bad because this one woman is bad because she did something a man didn’t like (rejected him, said no to him, didn’t talk to him, even something as simple as that).

Men kill women for posting TikTok videos. Men kill women for saying no in a bar. Men kill their own mothers after a petty argument that can be solved in minutes. Men don’t just hate one woman; they hate ALL women.

And you expect me to care about them? To even consider them in my daily life? No, I don’t care about them. I never will care about them. Men hate me for being a woman. Why should I care about the man that wants me dead for existing?

Even the nicest of men would still kill you if it had no legal repercussions. Men will always be men.
