The recent top news about Alibaba's IPO seems to be stirring quite a bit for some of the top ecommerce software providers. Many are wondering whether Alibaba will come head on with Amazon and eBay since their number of transactions were able to surpass both companies combined.

But that's the power of the Chinese market. They seem to have more spending power compared to a decade or two ago. And we're talking about a huge population of folks who can spend and splurge.

What i think many of these top ecommerce software providers should do is to reach out to China's population. With that much spending power, their merchants will be able to make quite a sum if their products are appealing to the Chinese market.

I had a look at Alibaba's website recently. It wasn't exactly like Amazon or eBay and obviously most people may not want to buy in bulk unless they are going to sell the stuff.

GMBO RM1000 Grant For Malaysian Businesses

Bet you want to know what this is all about right? The Malaysian government is dangling a RM1000 cash grant to qualified and deserving small local entrepreneurs in the hopes that they will get their existing business online with a proper webpage. 

So there's a GMBO RM1000 grant which local entrepreneurs could take advantage of to help them in their business. But what's the catch in order to qualify for this cash grant? 

Malaysian local entrepreneurs would need to fulfill a set of criteria or terms of which the main one would be to have a proper business website with a Malaysian business license. Basically, the Malaysian government is encouraging more businesses to have a broadband account and their website should be registered with a Malaysian domain name. 

if you ask me, it's just easy money. Who in this day and age would not want to have their own business website? Kids are finally going back to school. I'm sooo relieved. Why? Because it should be less crowded in all those places that I want to visit with friends. Never mind that summer is so hot, at least fall is coming and I'm looking forward to some nice cool weather.

Yahoo Merchant Solutions Needs An Image Overhaul

Was just plain curious about what Yahoo Merchant Solutions could possible offer since I've had a look at a few popular shopping carts. Now imagine what happens when you've had a look at some of the best shopping cart software providers a few minutes ago and then landing on the old Yahoo Merchant Solutions main site.

The site looks like it was 10 years old with the type of graphics and images that are being displayed. Time for some serious changes I reckon.

While Yahoo has been in business for quite some time being a recognized tech giant, it looks like the not-so-new CEO Marissa Mayer needs to work hard to get a lot of Yahoo's stuff revamped, chopped or bring in new stuff that is relevant to today's merchants.

Tall order? I think it's just a matter of time before Mayer heads this way to make it new and less clunky. Looking forward to seeing the change.

Shopify Review 2013 Shows Company Heading In Right Direction With Mobile Solution

Saw a Shopify review 2013 that was showcasing the company's mobile application. Pretty cool. This ecommerce shopping cart software provider came up with a really nice app that basically allow their merchants to access and run their entire online store from their iPhone. I checked out the interface and it was quite smooth.

With everyone scrambling to offer mobile solutions and applications to consumers and businesses, this is one of the ways where the ecommerce solution provider is helping their clients be more mobile as their business continues to expand.

Of course you would need to have a store with the service provider before you could actually try out their mobile commerce solution. Won't be surprising if all the other ecommerce software providers start offering the same flexibility and mobility to cater to their customers' needs.

Heard the news that Google is planning to do away with passwords. At the rate that the company's stocks have lost their value leaving investors fuming (those who got burned so bad when it's value plunged), Facebook had better start introducing more innovative stuff.

Anyway, back to good old Google. Seems that the company wants to introduce a security device (what would happen if you loose the device?) to replace all these pesky passwords. If it does take off, will other companies follow or will i be a total flop? Time will tell.
