(Q.1: What do you want to make/create at FAB?)
FAB とは?[ What do you FAB?]
In Shibuya, a district in Tokyo, a recent cafe opened up last month to promote a coffee alongside with access to a laser cutting printer & creative workshops. This has definitely set the cafe's brand at reputation out into the public realm of Tokyo-ite consumerism. It gives creative souls an opportunity to relax and elaborate on their own innovative ideas. Absolutely love it! I hope to visit this place the next time that I'm in Tokyo. What kind of creations would you dream up?
This Little Printer 2012 is the sleekest and most adorable printer that I have come across in my entire life! Not only does it print out anything from your smartphone but it does it in a sleek and stylish manner.
” BERG will be taking orders for Little Printer in 2012 and are looking for partners with ideas for publications. One to get involved with to turn your brand into daily headlines?” (springwise.com)
This is an interesting way for brands to get their momentum and piece of the printer page space. I wonder what will happen with this printer product?
However cute a product or brand is, I have to wonder, what are the ramifications of this product? What happens when one wants to print a two-page article?
Check out their promotional video at: http://www.springwise.com/img/uploads/2011/12/littleprinter.jpg
Have you seen Snoop Dogg's new book (a collection of his best rap lyrics) which doubles as a book and rolling paper? Although I don't condone smoking myself -- the idea is rather provocative and innovative for the publishing industry. This paper is said to be made of "pasta" and is completely edible too. Dual use or multi-use products have become a valued asset in consumer buying trends. I definitely think it was an interesting direction to go into.
Definitely check out the article at the following website: http://www.springwise.com/marketing_advertising/snoop-dogg-lyrics-book-doubles-rolling-paper/

Sometimes, you just don't need words to convey a certain feeling. What do you think of this beat? I totally enjoy it as an energy booster. I find myself bobbing along to the music. Yay for energy!
My Thoughts:
Food sustainability in the Middle East has been essentially non-existent due to the lack of natural resources (e.g. water, fertile land) available. In fact, it has been reported that about 80% of the Middle Eastern food reserves are imported. If this is a method that is catching on -- I hope that it's a sustainable one. I mean, how much does it cost them for the "film" materials? And what are the logistics of this method being used for mass production? I think these are some of the questions that will arise when talking about food sustainability and fresh water in the Middle Eastern community.
I love listening to music in different languages. Granted, I don't always know what they're saying but through the melody you can understand the tone and feeling behind the mus.
I wanted to share this Japanese song by a group called "m-flo". This group is making a comeback into the Japanese music scene after almost a decade and still strive to inspire and create innovative ways to express themselves. This video is pretty awesome because you can really get a sense of what Tokyo (and Japanese) "futsu" (or normal) life is like. I think people often forget that living your life simply and going through the daily routine involves interacting and crossing paths with really amazing phenomenons and people. Sometimes, you do it without even realizing. Do you feel like you pay enough attention to the people and opportunities around you?
Have you ever tried using a Japanese-style "bento box" (commonly known as a lunch box)? While I was living abroad in Japan, I absolutely LOVED using these perfectly sized and adorable bento boxes. Who ever said that lunch couldn't be satisfyingly delicious and uber cute? Japanese culture and people never cease to amaze me with their traditions (old and new).
"Never Say No to Panda" This commercial series is actually pretty bold. Although it may be borderline ridiculous (and yet somehow intriguingly awesome) it has actually elevated this "Panda Cheese" product line into a recognized product and brand. I mean, how many cheese brands can you think of off the top of you your head after seeing this commercial? And generally speaking, there happens to be a myriad of cheese products and brands in the Middle East and Europe due to their food culture. I think that the advertising agency executed a fun and bold concept for this brand.
I think overall this was a very successful campaign with a recognizable character and theme. Who wouldn't love a manic-depressive panda that comes after you when you say not to its cheese? This panda gets points for tantrum cuteness and being so persuasive in getting Egyptians to buy its cheese. The success of this campaign has even led to a Cannes Lions recognition! Not only has this campaign reached those in the Arab world, but it has also gone viral and attracted people from all over the world. Now the question is: "Will you say no to Panda Cheese?"
My Thoughts:
Has anyone see the video advertisement for the new Toyota Camry with Lee Min Ho, a relatively new and famous Korean actor? I found it to be actually really interesting because the video was a Korean drama-esque production to promote a Japanese car. It was interesting because there was actually nothing said about the product (aside from the romantic and convenient Pandora application in the car).
It actually made me wonder whether or not this advertisement was geared specifically towards working young women? How did they decide on this specific market target of young women, who preferably know and watch Korean dramas that include Lee Min Ho? And did the advertisement development team actually consider the importance of the product quality and function? The car itself actually only has an average mpg of 25 mpg (within city/local street driving) and costs around $22,0000 USD. Is the temptation of average stats and a Korean Drama-like commercial going to be enough to compete in the market with higher gas/mileage efficient cars?
MyShelter Foundation’s latest venture, is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide.
This is an amazingly simple idea that is changing the lives of many!

This is a collaborative short film that came about through a Canon HD video contest and had to be done through a Canon product (either a Canon EOS 7D or SD Mark II). I thought this was a great idea and brought about a lot of creativity for the film making community.

A lifetime consists of amazing moments that are meaningful. A level of connection and emotion that we can all connect to on some level.
