Age Verification on Websites

Since March 2019, the Digital Economy Act 2017 has given the government power to require certain websites to implement an age verification scheme, under rules defined in the Online Pornography Regulations 2019.

As of March 2019, there is no firm date for the implementation of this policy, which has been halted by many technical problems. A news report described implementation of the scheme as being "in a holding pattern".
