People on Tik Tok seem to really struggle with the concept of censorship like literally nobody seems to understand that being anti censorship means being against ALL censorship. Even if I think it’s disgusting, even if ill judge you for it, even if it’s something I disagree with, I’ll fight tooth and nail for it to be allowed to exist 😭 you can’t say you’re against censorship and then have exceptions for that it’s gotta be all or nothing

Meta just rolled out, and then quickly bailed on, an AI tool that let’s you manipulate content from anyone with a public account, just by @-ing them.1 Their reasoning? The swift backlash showed them they “missed the mark.”

Meta does care what you think. That’s why we’re running campaigns calling on them to bring back end-to-end encryption for Instagram DMs and fulfill their promise of privacy messaging for all.2 Big Tech companies want you to think they’re untouchable. But their dirty secret is that they’re vulnerable to pressure from people like you.

We’ve been leveraging that pressure strategically for years toward big wins like scaling back Amazon Ring police3 and Flock partnerships,4 and getting Apple and Google to end-to-end encrypt our messages.5 Now, with Big Tech and bad government teaming up6 to nuke our safety and privacy in the most evil ways they can manage,7 we’re at a critical juncture. Either we dig in and build winning campaigns, or we let Big Tech greed decide who in our communities is disposable. If you believe in what we can accomplish together, will you throw down with us?

Tumblr blocked my photo set of dicks I've drawn on stuff. I don't care if it has a mature content label, but as I understood it, the adult content ban had been lifted in favor of the mature content labels, not to mention, most of them were just cartoon dicks, that I drew on stuff. There's like, a historical precedent for that. Only one was an impressionist painting that was realistic. There's a historical precedent for that, too.

Apparently Bluesky is now requiring age verification for people who live in Texas. I've seen reports that it asks for SSN or credit card as some options.

This is a violation of privacy. If Bluesky is doing this in some areas, when it lied to us and claimed it was going to be everything Twitter abandoned, I no longer support Bluesky.

No social media may require your identification. You are allowed to be anonymous everywhere. Anyone who dictates otherwise, for any reason, is lying to you. It is never about the children, it is always about control. And yes, social media companies own the power to say no. YOU own the power to say no.
