WE ARE WILD
By Sebastien Charest
I stand alone in the heavy rain, tying on my next fly. My fingers are numb and fiddling with the intricate knot. Several waves of people have come and gone, driven out by the heavy rain yet here I remain, rooted to the estuary. There’s not many like us, people who seek refuge from life’s busy schedule and find solace in the wilderness. We seek out the most remote of places, where the possibility of bumping into another soul is slim. It’s built a passion for the outdoors that lies deep inside me. It’s driven me on a journey north, going from town to town looking for the next peak to climb and the next river to fish. As soon as the first cast lays across the stream I feel the weight of the uncertainty of life lift from my shoulders. When I top out on a mountain, there’s no worry of the emails or the phone calls that await my return. There is only a deep sense of awe, and peaceful serenity.

Sometimes you feel like dancin'
My heart gets sad sometimes. I’m not really sure why. It just starts to ache and my body begins to feel hollow. My mind wanders. I hate feeling like this. I don’t want to. But I can’t help it. My heart just feels heavy.
