Nothing wrong with anyone's modern AU fics where there's no magic but y'all gotta remember something about Gale. This man's whole characteristic is that he is a big magic expert. He will tell you straight up you're not versed in magic because he's that sure of himself as a magic expert. You can all make him as sophisticated and bookworm and sexy and professor like as possible and give him something else he's an expert on all you want but you're missing an opportunity.

Make that man a closeted magic the gathering and d&d nerd who insists that wizards are the superior class. Make him get heated during a game. Make him so competitive and closeted about his passion for d&d and magic the gathering that he profusely struggles internally trying to keep his graceful composure professor persona in front of students arguing over the best spells and classes in D&D.

Make him even more of a loser by having him be a mage main on WoW but it consumes his every waking thoughts. That guy has a youtube channel that has devolved into essays about why Augmentation Evokers should not exist. He’s an arcane mage purist, will play fire if the meta forces him and feels horrible about frost but what can he do? he’s a main mage first and a human being second

He is part of the commentators for the MDI and has almost gotten into a fight with Dratnos on live

Morena Dekarios is absolutely an Italian mama who scolds her full grown son in Italian no one can take this from me. Tav/Durge then witnesses as his mother scolds him AGAIN for not introducing her to his lovely fiance and how could he "not tell his mama about how he found someone?" Then she makes them pastas and cannoli while continuing to mutter under her breath how Gale is gonna be the death of her
