Recolor Tutorial: part idk 4? (Pt.1 Color, Pt.2 Pattern, Pt.3 Texture)
COMBINING CLOTHES and how it works
aka how to layer
Refer to Part 1 to get started.
First a little info about our mesh PNGs.
The placement of everything in the png is very. important. It corresponds with where it is located on the sim's body. So when you open a shirt mesh png before doing anything, it's already placed where it needs to be. Things are usually placed like this in the Krita file-
Shirts: Top Left
Pants/Skirts: Bottom Left
Sleeves: Top Right
Underside: Far Bottom Left
and those all need to stay in those places to be cohesive.
But this also makes us capable of some tricky little tricks ;)

SO
Today we'll make a simple tank over t-shirt look.
We have here our mesh, basic base game tank top, my beloved
Let's pretend you already did something with the basic base game t-shirt and have it saved as a png still.
Drag it into the tank top document
Insert as New Layer
It's now on TOP of our tank top, but we want it UNDER so just move the layer down.
I could stop here and say "And now you've done it! :D" But we'll go over things a bit more than that lol
First delete this-
It's the underside of the t-shirt and we're editing the tank top so we don't need it.
Anyway, so if we go back into Sims4Studio and update our mesh we have this-
Well, wtf is up with the bottom??
It's the bottom of the t-shirt.
Select the bottom and press delete.
That's better!
Now here's the thing with what we just did.
You can do ANYTHING to the png you brought in without it messing up the OG mesh. You can delete any part to make it a new shape. Some things to pay attention for however are the top of the shoulders area and if the "fabric" is still attached there.
Eek!
-Make sure the sleeves aren't moved from their original position in Krita.
Yikes!
-Some meshes have parts that are extended from the body and some things can look weird if you do things around that.
Nope!
---
So, once again, you can do ANYTHING to the t-shirt here, but NOT the tank top.
Can you tell what I cut out to make this shirt here?
Or here?
When you start making more complicated things like the ones above. Realize you're going to be doing A LOT of revisions and going back and forth between S4S and Krita
