Grace goes beyond mercy. Mercy gave Ruth some food. Grace gave her a husband and a home. Mercy gave the prodigal son a second chance. Grace threw him a party. Mercy prompted the Samaritan to bandage the wounds of the victim. Grace prompted him to leave his credit card as payment for the victim’s care. Mercy forgave the thief on the cross. Grace escorted him into paradise. Mercy pardons us. Grace woos and weds us.
Max Lucado, Grace (via 31women)
note to self: life is hard, but God is always with us. God is using these trials to build our character & to become dependent on Him.
1 John 3:4-10 (NASB) Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
i think emotional growth is really about realizing that your feelings are just that - feelings. not facts. not predictions. not omens. and you come up with a formula on how to deal with each kind. because life moves on and so do you.

“The love of God is not far to reach or difficult to obtain. His love is as close as the mention of His name. You don’t have to search hard. If you’ve seen the Son, you’ve seen the Father. Jesus is the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person.”

“Instead of telling them God has a wonderful plan for their life - tell them who God is.”

God, help me to surrender everything to You, even the broken parts that aren’t beautiful. Help me to surrender anything that keeps me from You and know that my pain isn’t greater than my God. I can’t make pain my god, so I need to give everything in full surrender. God, everything is Yours.
God has beautiful plans for your future but you’ll never get there if you keep looking at the past.
