Life Goes On.
The death of a childhood friend, awakens thoughts of your own end, You sit awhile and contemplate, the life you’ve lived, what lies in wait. You sit beneath the chestnut tree, outside your school of memory, The football field where you did play, until the night invaded day. Inside the church, where you never go, you light a candle, and watch it glow, The silent church fills you with peace, the tears you held, now find release. You leave the church in the pouring rain, the icy drops, wash away your pain, You are sorry that your friend is gone, but that is life, and life goes on. Ambrose Harte Scattered Thoughts
