It’s getting lit...let me light up your life.
To the broken and beautiful,
Have you ever met someone who has so much potential and just a beautiful person inside and out but yet they don’t see themselves that way? No matter how fucked up they might think they are and no matter the “baggage” they come carrying, I’m here to say there are people out there who won’t see you that way.
Recently I met someone so beautiful inside and out and sadly that was not the reflection they saw at all. They saw themselves as a fuck up and a complete mess. I mean sure, you’re a mess, but we all are.
Think of it this way;
We’re all born as this complete glass piece. But glass is a fragile thing, so if it’s not handled with care, it will crack or worst it will break. So compare that to just life kicking your ass, it’s going to break you down a little bit and chip away at you. People are also going to do that, some people are not going to take care of you and they’re going to hurt you. Some people are hurt so bad that they’re just a pile of broken shards.
I’m here to say that does not make you worthless or damaged goods. To the right person they’re still going to see the potential in all those broken pieces. They will carefully sift through the pieces and piece you together again. The amount of cuts from the glass won’t matter in this project, because they know that broken glass has rough edges that will cut them every now and then. They realize that healing isn’t always easy and painless, but they’ll hold on and slowly keep working the pieces together fitting them this way and that. Unbeknown to you, they see the bigger picture and they see you as you are and they embrace it. They know you’ve been hurt and that trust is going to take a while to gain with each piece they try to fit, but they’re going to be patient through it all.
In the end though, they’re going to fit the pieces back together and yes it’s not the same image as the one that you were born with, but to expect to be the same person after all this time, is not really within reason. You have grown so much as a person and learned a lot through the years about yourself. You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for and they see this. The image they have created though from all those broken pieces? It’s probably one of the most beautiful mosaic pictures anyone has ever seen. Sure you’d been broken, and sure there will probably still be some cracks and chips, but it doesn’t mean that you are not beautiful. This person saw you in your most broken state and they had seen all this potential the entire time. They’ll be the light to help even show you the imagery that they’ve helped piece together when you look into a mirror.
Conclusion? There are people who are out there who are not afraid of helping you see all the potential you carry and will still find you beautiful. They’ll embrace the broken unafraid of the jagged sharp edges and they’ll still try and piece you back together.
