Even on the hard days, even on the worst days, when the tears flow for both of us and we’re both tired, frustrated, and angry, I want you to know this: I love you more than words can ever hope to express. I love you from the depths of my soul. Even when I’m in tears because of the kind of day or week, or month I’ve had, I would never, not even for a moment trade the incredible joy of getting to watch you grow and getting to know you and love you and be your mother for anything in the world. There would never be anything in this world that I wanted more than you. I would give my life for you—not only in the small, everyday moments, but to the extent of giving up my physical life if, by doing so, I could save yours. I wouldn’t hesitate. I don’t think you’ll ever know how much I love you until you meet your own child for the first time. At that very moment, when your heart is stolen like you stole mine and your breath is taken away like you took mine, you will finally understand a parent’s love. My love. Until then, just take my word and know that I love you more than anything. Baby, you are my world. My moon, my sun and my stars. The light that shine down on me, my smile, my heartbeat, my strength and my only weakness. The breath that I take every morning when I awake and my favorite thing to wake up to. You’re my everything.
