I found the original in an antique store in rural Iowa.
Hey everyone, now that it’s winter I might start posting all the photos I forgot to share in 2016...

Hey everyone, now that it’s winter I might start posting all the photos I forgot to share in 2016...
A stop during a peaceful evening ride tonight.
Experimenting with Armor Etch acid to etch glass. I’m using a Silhouette Cameo to cut Oracal 651 vinyl and transferring it to the glass as the stencil. The resulting etching is turning out pretty well.
@goldenxgloves came by @paramountbarberingco in Des Moines during my guest spot. 2 at the sideburns and neck tapered down. Clipper over comb to the temples and shear over comb from the temples to the top. Finished with a razor to remove thickness and add texture to allow his hair to be slicked straight back easily. #barber #barbers #barbering #barberlife #barbershop #barbershopconnect #sidepart #combover #slickback #pomp #pomade #pompadour #esquirebarbershop #chicago #chicagobarber #chicagobarbershop #taper #taperit #fade #menshair #menshaircut #mensgrooming #menshairstyle #hair #haircut #hairstyle #andis
Javi partook in the traveling Barber Justin last week. It’s weird seeing your friends show up randomly on the internetz.
I finished a dress for my daughter tonight. It took me longer than I expected because everything was smaller scale. The pattern is Kwik Sew K3775 if anyone is interested in spending twice as much on a dress as they cost at the store and spending 10 hours making it.

Hasselblad 503cx, 150mm Sonnar, Kodak Tri-X, Kodak Xtol
A goofy set of cheap Mexican made Levis 505 15oz jeans. I took about 2″ out of the legs and about 5 inches of length off of them. They claim to be 33x34 but they were more like 35x40 before I washed them. Not the most flattering cut, but they’re baggy in the seat the way I like my jeans and taper down to 8″ openings. Pretty much the way I like them. Dad jeans for dads who refuse to own minivans.
I took about 5/8″ length off of the collar tonight by cutting it along the outer edge and folding it in on itself. I ironed it carefully so both sides fit together and sewed a couple of lines to secure it. No more disco collar.
The snow is still stuck to the northeast side of the trees a week later so I had to pull off of the road today and take a few photos.
Saturday morning
My rotation of belts. All are holding up well.
That moment when people you follow post your photo uncredited.
Two layer belt loop with a hidden snap. I thought it came together nicely.
Some cheap leather tools I took a chance on over on Amazon. A 20 dollar maul, a 10 dollar skiving knife, and an 18 dollar set of -definitely-hand-made- corner punches. All in all, they seem to do the trick. I sanded the ugly varnish off of the handle on the maul and rubbed it down with danish walnut oil.
New Old Stock. The best kind of old stock.
It’s been forever since I sat down and made anything out of leather. I totally ripped this off when I saw my friend’s wallet today. The concept being that you might as well carry a wallet that’s the shape of your entire back pocket in order to properly utilize back pocket real estate. His is fancy shell cordovan, but this is just 3oz veg tan. I didn’t treat it with anything.
After the initial ownership blitz, I’m about done for the year. New mirrors, turn signals, brakes, a working horn, oil pressure switch, complete fluid change. I still have the fork seals and fork oil left, but that’s it. Then it’ll be more highly maintained than 99% of all Sportsters.
