We had all been exhausted after pulau ubin yesterday and yesterday's exertion was obvious with the time I woke up today. It was nearly 11 by the time I got out of bed and everyone had already left the house. So, with vacuuming still to be done, a potential bathroom to be cleaned, and a meetup time of 2 for today's activities, there was definitely a lot to do. I managed to dust and vacuum the whole place but I didn't have time to clean the bathroom. I have to say though: even though it's already the third time I'm cleaning the house, there was a definite sense of happiness and accomplishment in being able to leave a clean house today. It was strange but the house felt almost lighter today. By 12:30 or so, I figured I should start getting ready to go out. And I was trying to confirm he time but it turned out that Marissa wasn't feeling all that well so we moved the time for meeting up to later in the evening. In the meantime, I figured that I could be at least partially productive. As expected though, all I did for productivity sake was open the file Becky sent me, message Angie about something, and partially fill out the TA app for fall. On the other hand though, I also managed to watch 2 episodes of Game of Thrones. Lots of feelings about the multiple instances of causing women pain in these episodes. I definitely had a moment where I was questioning if I should still be watching this series. That feeling went away though when I started to surf the GOT and ASOFAI wikis. I'm definitely still obsessed with this but a little critical of the plot devices. After this, Lucky and I decided to meet up at Bayfront to grab dinner. Dressed on the nicer side just in case Marissa still wanted to go to the Marina Bay Sands bar but dressing up took more time and I was late as usual to meet Lucky. Sorry girl! Still improving this ability. She said she only waited 10 minutes so hopefully she wasn't too annoyed. We went back to the Rasapura food court at the Bayfront mall for dinner. I got jajjangmyeon and it was good. The initial taste wasn't as good but it was a flavor that I didn't get sick of which was different from the one I've had from Zion market. After this, we met up with everyone else and Lucky' s housemates- twins who were really cool and friendly with this even though they were younger than us and were meeting us for the first time. On a side note, I really like how here, it's not so much part of the culture to have terms of respect between the youth. It's a lot easier to be friends that way I think rather than worrying about accidentally insulting someone with something you say. So, after dinner, we went over to Gardens by the Bay and we managed to catch some fireworks too. Apparently, there's also a building on the way that has streamers that move with the wind and show structures. I wanted to see it but we'll just save it for the next time I'm here. Anyway, we finally got to gardens by the bay and it was super nice. Basically it's like a nature walkway with big man made tree structures that light up and are covered with plants and flowers. And some of trees have bridges that connect them. And it's all set in this huge park. If you want to pay, you can also go to flower domes but it's definitely pricey- about 30 per person per dome. One of the twins said that the two domes look like a bra lying on the ground when you look at it and even I started thinking of it as bras XD. We knew that there was ice cream at the end of the helical bridge so we headed there next. At this cart, they sold ice cream sandwiches but instead of putting it between cookies, they put it between wafers. They normally use bread but today, they had run out already. I got the flavor Ripple which was raspberry and vanilla and it was good. Definitely spilled some but for 1.20, it was pretty worth it. Since Marissa had not been to the Merlion, we walked towards there and this time, the area near the field was opened so we got to see it as we walked by. We were thinking that it had been closed last time to prepare for SG50. We were just gonna go straight to the Merlion but we stopped on the way at the night market that was open there( also not there last time). And we got some snacks/drinks. I had sugarcane juice for the first time and it was good but I have to say that I prefer coconut juice more and I think there was a good deal more ice in there than there needed to be. After a well- needed break, we finally reached the Merlion and after everyone had gotten their fill of the sea lion, we all decided to go home via Raffles. I know it was my second time at Bayfront but each time, I can't help but think how nice the place is. I would definitely love to stay there and I think Dad would be ecstatic with the place. If they could come visit me, I would love to take them all around. They would have so much fun here and it's a pity we have never really traveled Singapore. I can see how you could live your whole life here. There is just so much to do and when you're working, there's just so little time too. Especially with Singapore's work ethic. Back to the actual day, I got home around 11:30 and weirdly enough, everyone had already gone to bed. It's strange coming home to that but at least, no one was worried for scolding me. Took a nice shower and then started looking up deals for Thailand to travel with Lucky. Saw a bunch of deals but we wanted to get something that was safe and nice but also cheap. And wifi was a must. We saw a lot but by 1, we were both getting pretty tired so we decided to call it a day. Have work to do for tomorrow but hopefully, being at work will help me get stuff done.

Hafizah was not feeling well today, so it was just me at work. And with that knowledge in mind, any motivation to arrive early totally went own the drain. Got there at like 9:20ish and I actually ran into Ryo. I spoke to him for the first time and he seemed cool. Turns out he has a daughter who is 10 months old and has been here for 2 years. He’s worked in haematoma labs before and somehow found his way here.
Today’s work: JJN3 cell culture, organized my lab notebook, sequencing check
Stayed till 6:30 today and then decided to get some groceries on the way back at Giant and replaced some of my food stock.
Dinner: Paratha with Teriyaki Chicken and Annie Aunty’s mom’s pickle; Apple
Plan for tomorrow’s dinner-> Ramen with egg and bok choy

and Yesterday was fun and now, I have to do something productive with my life. Since Annie Aunty was going to a different church, I had to find on to go to on my own. I ended up going to a random church and I was late but it was an alright service. Afterwards, I decided to go to the Geylang Hari Raya Bazaar since it’s gonna close on Thursday and I was craving Takoyaki. I was there around 1:30 and there was not much of a crowd and so, I got my food super quick. It was good and it was a box of 6 for just $2. Post this, I actually decided to be productive by going to the nearby Starbucks. Drinks were hella expensive here but I got a hibiscus iced shaken lemon tea so that I could sit there without any issues. It was a nice place to work but the public wifi just kept going on and off so it wasn’t the most effective. Plus, the cramps decided to hit so today was more than a little bit of a struggle. I was fed up enough after an hour or so, so today’s productivity level was low. Left by then to grab some Ramly burgers for myself and Annie Aunty. Super cool to make and it was fun to see all things at the bazaar. Took the MRT home (which was super crowded). And then just been relaxing at home, getting some stuff done. The tumblr is slowly coming together and hopefully, I can actually get things done and faster as well. Just need to be productive.
The takoyaki kinda looks like this-> There’s mayo-esque sauce and sweet teriyaki like sauce. And then onions are sprinkled on top.
Ramly burger-> The meat is fried and once that is taken off the griddle. Then eggs were broken on it and the yolks and whites were spread out. The meats were spread out on the eggs in a line. Sauce was spread on the bun (three different types- I think sauce, mayo, and chilli ketchup) and then the eggs are folded over the meat. And then it was all cut up for each individual patty. I’m excited for it and will edit it for how it tastes.
