As per usual, the first video with my new BP monitor is this single measurement without sound. I was still buzzing with excitement from having this monitor, so my BP was 176/96, left arm, sitting. Actually the highest reading for both systolic and diastolic I got on this monitor. I can't wait to record a version with sound. :)

A new way to check blood pressure

I woke up yesterday and got this brilliant idea. And honestly I wonder how I didn't come up with this idea sooner.

Measuring blood pressure on both arms simultaneously! 💓

I did 15 measurements in total and then I got inspired to do a heart exam after it. I will write a fancy report and post it here.

The second picture is the first reading I took after I figured out how to do it correctly.

And I think this goes without saying, but a video where I check my BP like this will happen. :)

Last appointment I had with my Oncologist, along with the usual palpitations of my belly and liver, he did something unusual. When he was done with his exam, before he let me up from the table, he palpated my femoral arteries. I could feel them surging against his fingers powerfully. He felt the right one first and then the left one. Once he checked them, he went back and listened to my heart and belly for a second time. He doesn’t usually do that so I asked him what caught his interest. He said it was not unusual for a man my age to begin having circulation issues in his lower extremities due to the treatment and the age range that I am dealing with. He said my pulses were perfect and my heart and lungs sounded very strong and clear. He didn’t like my initial blood pressure of 149/83 but he knows I always get nervous at these exams. He checked my pressure again just as I was about to leave and I was at a more reasonable 133/72. I guess that pleased him because he told me I could go home. Thanks Doc! See you in three months!
