thinking about how dorian and lyndon see their grief and anger over their siblings' predicament in each other. about how lyndon snaps at dorian for prying too much about edlin. about how dorian gets set off so easily when the topic of sisters comes up. about how dorian wishes he could have, should have, died with halissa. about how lyndon drinks himself into a stupor over edlin's death. about how they both think if they had done something—anything—different, their siblings would still be alive
The prince of annoying ass horns_ _
happy birthday to the saddest wet cat nephalem this side of westmarch (some very disorganized diablo 3 rambles and general Emotions below...)
hello. soulmate AU with dorian and lyndon where your soulmate's name appears somewhere on your body. read it
Their routine in Bastion's Keep had become second nature, to where Dorian had silently started to wonder what he would do without it—they would wake together, clean themselves up as best they could, then dress and run off to save the day again once they'd gotten whatever rations they could have.
Through it all, he tried to ignore the fearful, fragile love blooming in his heart, but he was finding it harder and harder to do so. More than once, Lyndon's hand had settled at his hip as they lay together, telling each other stories to stave off the strain of the war, and it had felt more right than anything… But Dorian hadn't been able to say a word about it.
Tugging his shirt on, he paused in front of Lyndon as he saw the other studying something black on his forearm and absently rubbing at it. "Is something wrong?"
Lyndon lifted his head, blinking at Dorian before letting out a weary little laugh. "I, ah—Not really? Just…" He faltered, worrying at his lower lip before speaking again, a bit more rushed like he needed to get the words out or face dire consequences. "Do you believe in soulmates?"
Dorian went still, a creeping dread making his chest tighten. He felt like he'd been suddenly dropped into a minefield (and he had seen plenty of those recently).
Carefully considering his words as he tucked his shirt in, he managed to say, "I'm not sure. It all sounds a little ridiculous to me, honestly, but I suppose there's worse things that could be fated."
Lyndon shifted his weight slightly, then let out a low breath as he held his arm out to show Dorian the mark. "I went to Myriam a while ago about this… She didn't recognize it. Well, she probably did, but you know her. I've been trying to figure out what it is for years now, and now that we're here, I don't feel like I'll ever find out."
Dorian took Lyndon's arm to study the name on it, then felt his heart trip and fall, shattering into pieces and making his body go weak. Lyndon was saying something else, but Dorian barely realized he was speaking as he stared at a name and a script that he hadn't seen written out in sixteen years.
"Dorian?" Lyndon was shaking him; when Dorian—struggling to breathe—managed to focus on his face again, he was watching him with concern. "Are you alright?"
Stumbling back, Dorian untucked his shirt, then tugged his waistband down to bare the name on his hip. As Lyndon processed it, his face paled, and he looked back to his own arm.
"But this isn't—"
"That's the name my father gave me," Dorian managed to whisper, trying to blink away tears that were coming too quickly for him to succeed. "I have two."
Lyndon stared at him silently, then slowly reached out to rest his hand on Dorian's hip, his thumb brushing over his own name that was forever etched into the hunter's skin. Dorian let his own hand curl around Lyndon's forearm with a soft breath, his palm resting over where his old name was.
Then, unable to stop himself any longer, he pressed his free hand over his mouth as he began to sob.
love that even with how much dorian has changed since i first made him, the one ☝🏽 thing that has remained consistent about him is that he has a pain fetish. and a blood/knife kink. it is So fun to write him bleeding and whining and whimpering about it

"Please don't blame yourself for this. Nothing good will come of it."
"What do you want me to say? That I wish he'd never known me? That I wish he'd had a brother who didn't fail him?"
"That you carry the weight of grief."
"Grief? You left your grief behind when you became a noble hero. You don't understand the rest of us anymore."

hi i wrote a bit of fic about when dorian joins the demon hunters featuring a couple other OCs of mine
"Are you sure it's a good time to ask?"
"No. But is there ever? We can't lug around a boy forever, Lucan."
"You did it with me."
Ophelia chuckled at that before her expression became somber again, her gaze drifting to where Dorian sat alone on the edge of the camp, staring hollowly at the dirt. "... Out of everyone I've asked, he's the only one where I don't know what I hope he says. He doesn't strike me as someone who can just return to city life, but he's so young..."
She trailed off, then shook her head before standing. "He's finally got some food in him, at any rate." For weeks, the boy had rejected almost any food offered to him—or, when he had taken it, he had gotten so upset he had vomited it right back up not long after. "Better than nothing."
Lucan hummed in agreement and followed after, a few steps behind. Dorian didn't seem to register their approach, but flinched as Ophelia leaned down and touched his shoulder.
"I have a question for you." When Dorian only watched her quietly, golden eyes glassy enough to where Lucan worried he was completely dissociated, Ophelia continued: "We're not too far from Kingsport right now. If you want to try your hand at a normal life, we can go there and send you into the city with some money and supplies. If you don't want that... You can stay with us. You can become part of the hunt. We'll teach you everything you need to know to stay alive, but it'll cost you in other ways. People are afraid of us. They'll rarely trust you, no matter what you do."
Dorian said nothing for a long moment, quietly rocking back and forth as he toyed with the end of his braid. Then, he spoke, so quietly that Lucan and Ophelia had to lean in to hear him: "People never liked me anyway. They were afraid of me. Because of the fits. And... I don't like cities. They hurt my head."
"You wouldn't have to stay there," Ophelia said. "Just long enough to get your bearings."
"But then where would I go?" Dorian's voice was so dejected it made Lucan's heart ache in sympathy. "There's nowhere for me to go. I'd just get hurt. Maybe I'd die."
"You'll get hurt no matter what," Ophelia said softly. "You just need to choose how."
Again, Dorian was silent before his lower lip began to tremble, and a soft keening sounded in the back of his throat as he clutched the sides of his head. Ophelia and Lucan sat beside him, both holding him as the wail grew louder. The other demon hunters with them looked over with pitying expressions but made no move to approach, which may have been for the best.
When Dorian's crying finally quieted, Ophelia gently rubbed the uninjured side of his back, then asked, "Are you staying with us, then?"
Dorian didn't open his eyes, only slumping against her like all of the life had been drained from him. "... Yes."

so anyway thinking about how lyndon's thievery was for his brother and his family's sake and how much edlin's imprisonment weighed on him and how he's a good man at heart and i'm never going to shut up about him do you hear me. i could write an entire essay about the tiniest interactions he has with the other characters tyvm
suddenly remembered that there's hookahs in caldeum. what better layover activity for dorian and lyndon than for dorian to green out and think he's going to die from cannabis and lyndon helping him through that
