Danielle took a sip of her wine and rolled her eyes at him. âYou didnât have to throw a drink at the waiter simply because the previous whiskey wasnât the one you ordered.â She rolled her eyes and raised her eyebrow at him.
âThat was the second time heâd got it wrong when Iâve been ordering the same thing for...â he took a glance at his watch. âA couple hours now. Forgive me if I got a little pissed - I donât joke about my drink.â
Scott listened to the other man, and shook his head a little bit. âSo you arenât even sorry a little bit, for basically running into me and spilling your previous drink on me?â This was the perfect way to end his night.
âNope. I mean I was a little bit, until I looked over that way and saw how happy a wet shirt made those chicks. I mean every problem is solved by the smile of a beautiful woman, right?â Jett rambled, lost in his own intoxication.Â
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Jett frowned. âI get it. Youâre looking for an apology and Iâm not delivering,â he paused, grabbing a hold of his glass filled with whiskey. âI mean, not to be a complete fuckinâ dick but itâs âcos I ainât sorry. Not even a little bit.â

Autumn could already tell that it would be a bit of an adjustment to get used to actually listening to Riley. For the most part she tended to block out the man as he spoke - but now that certain things had changed between the two of them, it only seemed appropriate that she would actually listen to what he had to say⊠The smile that had previously been glued to her lips only seemed to falter once she began to listen to him. She hadnât been entirely certain where he was going with it in the beginning, yet after some time she was able to develop a bit of an understanding. It felt nice, oddly enough, to know that Riley was able to confide things like that to her. It was fairly comforting at the same time to know that he hadnât been after other women the same way he had been after her - she liked the idea that she was the one and only. It made her feel a little less worse about the entire thing - and made her feel as though maybe, just maybe, she hadnât made a mistake in trusting him.Â
Yet right now, Autumn knew she wouldnât be asking Riley any questions. She knew how hard it was by itself to admit things like that - she didnât want to push him too far. Not when there would still be time needed to learn things about one another. Any questioning could come at a later point, where they were more comfortable around one another. âI âpreciate ya tellinâ me that, Riley. Really, I do. Maybe one day weâll be able to tell each other our secrets, ya know? Thaâ day donât gotta be today, though. We can wait a bit. Tesâ the waters ân see how things go.â The woman took another pause as she considered his question, shortly letting out a soft laugh. âI ainât never really been a movie person, actually. I canât ever seem to sit still long enough to watch one. Iâm always gettinâ up to get snacks or go to the bathroom or whatever. So to answer your question⊠I donât even got a favorite movie. Donât even remember the last time I watched a movie.â
His eyes traced slowly up and down her figure, unable to divert them any place else, not that he even wanted too. If anything, he wanted to breathe in and bask in every second of this moment, just incase it never came again. She was something else - he always thought it... Maybe one day he could get her to believe that too. âYeah, I know - I just wanted you to know is all,â the male smiled down at her, appreciating the fact she didnât push him. Not that he would mind, he wasnât one to keep secrets these days, but that wasnât to say that kind of talk wasnât premature for the two of them. He let out a laugh, followed by a quick head-shake. âAnd here I thought you had the patience of a saint.â The teasing sarcasm in his tone was evident and soft as he rolled his eyes playfully down at her. âI donât watch much TV these days either actually,â he paused in thought, unable to recall the last time he actually watched a movie. âBut, if youâre ever gonna try the movie thing out then itâs gotta be Despicable me. Tell ya, itâs for adults too,â he wagged a finger at her and chucked softly. âOr maybe just big kids... whatever.â Riley smirked boyishly, turning his head to take a sip from his bottle.Â
âNice place ya got here,â he nodded in appreciation as he finally began to acknowledge his surroundings. âNot the makings of a murder home... Good start. Iâm feelinâ safer by the minute.â The male turned his eyes back toward her and flashed her a wink. It was kinda funny, actually - how there was always a million and one questions he wanted to ask her about herself, and now he actually had the chance, he could barely think of one. But that was the type of impact she had on him. She made everything a little blurry, but it was always welcomed. Especially now, anyway. Feeling his phone buzz in his pocket, he frowned and pulled it out to turn it off, but noticed the picture message from his sister. ââScuse me,â he gave Autumn a small squeeze as a form of apology for being rude, but that was quickly followed by a scoff at the photo on his phone. âI should have brought Dexter with me.â Riley sighed, chuckling softly as he showed the photo to Autumn. A photo of his dog sporting his sisters flowery headband.

Yet again, Lucas found himself offering a wide grin. It was extremely comforting to know that he could go back and forth with the woman without fearing that he would say something too stupid that would upset her. Humor was one of the most attractive features he could find in another woman, and it felt nice to know that it was something Jenny had. A chuckle escaped his lips before he did his best to maintain a serious expression. âWell, I could tell youâŠbut if I told you, then Iâd have to kill youâŠâ It didnât take long for his serious expression to crumble as he began to playfully wiggle his eyebrows a bit. âI deal with murder cases pretty often, but itâs not all that I do. It just depends, really.â Although it could get pretty morbid, dealing with dead bodies and killers, Lucas wouldnât trade it for anything. From the way he viewed it, it was like he was keeping the bad guys off the streets in order to protect his family, especially little Bella. He really couldnât complain, not when he viewed it that way.Â
His attention was caught by her admittance of disliking wine - something that made him grin even better. âGod thatâs a relief - I donât really do wine either. Iâm more of a beer and whiskey kind of guy, like you said.â At least he wouldnât have to order some outrageously overpriced bottle of wine to impress her - much to his own relief. âI think a soda will be just fine for me, too.â At least he wouldnât have to worry about getting a little tipsy and embarrassing himself. âSpicy food, huh? Spicy food isnât all too bad. I donât get it much, because Bella doesnât really like it.â He still wore a bit of a smile on his lips as he glanced down at the menu in his hands - he had no clue what to order. âIâm thinking I might ask the waiter what he recommends, you know? Maybe heâll suggest some crazy spicy food that youâll love.âÂ
Jenny could feel her heart thudding against her chest. She was nervous, but it was a good kind of nervous. The woman couldnât remember the last time she was so excited about a date and as the minutes ticked away, she found herself relaxing into the conversation. âMust be hard though. Having to see those kind of tragedies and be expected to just shrug it off and do your job. I couldnât do it, so hats off to you.â Jenny smiled toward him. He was inspiring, that wasnât even a question. Compared to him, her job almost seemed stupid, she knew thatâs how some people would view it anyway, but that was okay - not everybody would understand her or her reasons for dancing, itâs just the way things were. Jenny couldnât help but grin once she caught his reaction to her confession, pleased to find he didnât find it odd. âHey, donât filter yourself for my benefit, if you wanna drink, by all means, you deserve one,â she chuckled, leaning sideways to tuck her bag under her chair.Â
âYeah. I mean, not overly spicy though - Just.. you know, enough to make ya tongue tingle.â The brunette laughed, covering her mouth with her hand as she gave a head shake. âBella probably has it sussed though, spicey food doesnât do much for the taste buds besides making them burn, smart kid,â she curved her lips upward as she glanced down at the menu. âYeah, or he will suggest something I have no clue about and the next thing I know Iâll have a live squid on my plate...â she raised an eyebrow in amusement, giving a soft roll of her shoulder. âHow about you pick me something, and Iâll give it a shot? Nothing with cucumber, broccoli, beans or seafood though... Those things came directly from hell and I will never be convinced otherwise.â

The woman continued listening to the man, paying attention to every word that came out of his mouth. That in itself was a bit of a feat for the woman - normally she ignored what he had to say, typically because she figured it would just be the same old thing. Him commenting about wanting to take her out on a date or shamelessly flirting with her. Now that that was out of the way and she had begun to tear down that wall that served as a barrier between the two of them, things seemed to be easier. She could actually listen to him without fearing that she would only have to build that wall even higher up between the two of them. She could trust that she could relax and actually have a real conversation with him - something that typically never happened. Ever.
Her eyes shifted from Nova, who had laid herself down on the floor beside them, back to Riley as he began speaking up. Their eyes locked as her breath seemed to catch in her throat, especially at the sudden feeling of intimacy between the two of them. She seemed unable to calm her rapidly beating heart as his fingers grazed against her chin, successfully bringing her eyes back to his and her face a bit closer to his as well. Before she was able to form any sort of response, Rileyâs lips were back on hers again. A quiet hum escaped her lips as she found herself returning it and even seemed to offer a bit of a smile against his lips as well. âI mighâ have to starâ charginâ ya for kisses,â she teased in a soft breath once their lips finally separated, adding in one more peck for good measure before she finally pulled her head away so more. âAinât no rush, either. You ân I can take all the time we need.âÂ
Feeling the smile she gave him against his lips arose a smile of his own. I mean, what wasnât there to smile about right now? He drove up here just to see if she was okay, he never even thought that he was the reason she sped off in the first place. He only wished he knew the right words to crack her walls sooner than now, maybe they could have both saved the dull heartache. That being said, now was good too. Considering he had finally surrendered and lost hope for the two of them, he wouldnât swap these fresh moments for absolutely anything. âI like the sound of that,â he hummed softly, shuffling a little deeper into the sofa as his arm came to wrap around her waist, resting his palm over the base of her stomach. âI need you to know somethinâ A....â Riley moved forward only to reach his beer from the table. âAll the times I asked you out, that was new for me. Itâs difficult to explain, but I mean, Iâm gonna try so... - I was your original, basic idiot growing up. I got into all the things I shouldnât have and I could write a book on all the questionable choices Iâve made. I never got close to anyone, never trusted anyone - Excluding my sister, though. But that being said there was a long time that I pushed her away too, to keep her safe and out of whatever trouble I was heading into,â the male noticeably shuffled a little, feeling like he was a little exposed.Â
âAnyway, no details just yet but there was an event in my life that flip turned me upside down and onto the right track. I pulled my shit together and straightened up, and thatâs been me since then. Bexâ was the only person I have gave a shit about in so long, as long as I can remember actually. But then you came along. You and Nova, just randomly in the middle of the park.â Riley chuckled. âAnyway, what I mean to say is I donât do this. Iâve never asked anyone on a date before, never mind several - It was just you. - Not sure if that helps settle ya nerves or anything but.. you know, I just wanted you to know.â The male looked down at her, offering a cheeky smile before taking a sip of his beer. âSo you struggle to open up to people, you gotta believe me when I say I get that, so I ainât gonna push you. I mean these days I ainât got no secrets, my past is my past, Iâm not gonna deny it so - if thereâs anything you want to ask me donât be shy,â Riley gave a shrug of his shoulder as his fingertips grazed her lower stomach in a soft tickle motion. âThat being said I do wanna know more about you though, so how about you tell me...â he paused, humming in thought. âWhatâs ya favorite movie?âÂ

Jennyâs words still seemed to ring in the manâs ears as they made their way further inside the restaurant. He was unable to really shake that smile from his lips, not that he really had any intent to, and he couldnât help but reflect on them a bit. There were a few things his focus remained on - her flirty little comment about sweets, which he really tried his best not to think too greatly about, but also about how she tried to reassure him that Bella did need him. Although she wasnât always around the two of the, he still wanted to believe her and the insight she may have had into their situation. She was once a little girl, maybe going through the same situation. Lucas knew he would come to Jenny with some more questions in the future - he only hoped that she wouldnât have a problem with answering them. Or that she wouldnât be annoyed by them. Hopefully he would be able to restrain himself from bothering her with all too many questions.Â
âUnder-dressed? Are you kidding me? You look a hell of a lot better than most of these people here,â Lucas reassured genuinely, that charming smile still on his lips as he settled into his own seat. âI was doing an interrogation with a suspect for a murder when he told me he had eaten here and - nah, Iâm just kidding. One of my coworkers told me about it when I told him I had a date with a beautiful woman tonight. Glad to see that he actually has some decent taste. Guess the real test will come later once we actually get our food.â From looking around as they were led to their seats, the food seemed to look and smell pretty great to him, which made him even more eager to order. âSo, how about I order us a bottle of wine? Any kind you want in particular?â He was never good with that sort of thing - he never really drank wine, either. But he figured like it was a pretty safe option for the moment.Â
Jenny dipped her head to purposely let her hair fall over her cheeks as they turned a light shade of pink. It wasnât necessarily the compliment, it was actually the fact that it was a compliment from him. Settling into her seat, her eyes popped up to his when he began his sentence, letting a grin form on her lips. âDamn, and youâve stood that beautiful woman up to entertain me instead? Iâm so honored.â Jenny teased, sliding her menu into better view as she placed her bag down. âDo you have to deal with a lot of murder cases?â she asked, just curious since he had made the joke about it. âCan I even ask questions like that? Or is it all top secret?â she grinned, crossing one leg over the other. âWhat kind?â she looked up with a kind of âummmâ face. âMm-kay so, I was hoping to keep my alcohol tastes under wraps but, I gotta tell you, I know absolutely butt all about wine. I mean, besides what color it looks like...â she shrugged, letting out a giggle.Â
âIâm really not a wine drinker, unless itsâ summer-berries - Other than that, I donât really like anything else. Iâve found the ones Iâve tried to be too bitter.â Jenny smiled and sat herself back. âSo you might as well know that when I do decide to sit down with a drink, itâs normally bourbon or beer.â An almost embarrassed laugh escaped her lips, wondering what he would think of that. âIâm happy with a soda though, you know? I canât drink if youâre not gonna - if weâre gonna make fools of ourselves then I at least want you to be at the same level as I am,â she teased, more so laughing at how easily she tripped over her own words. Embarrassment aside, it was quite amusing even for her - Jenny was never one to dwell on things, she always chose to laugh it off, even if the joke was at her expense. The worst thing that could happen was that Lucas released she wasnât his type, but even then, Jenny would be happy to know that she was true to herself.  âNow if you asked me about food, Iâm way less fussy. Iâll eat basically anything, especially if itâs spicy.âÂ

The woman was perfectly aware of the fact that Riley had pressed a kiss to the top of her head. Although she would have preferred to pretend as though it infuriated her, there was absolutely no way she could deny she secretly enjoyed it. At least she could keep her face hidden from sight, where she could hide her smile a bit, or even the slightest hint of a blush rushing to her cheeks. She reached forward to grab her own beer bottle, as she took a quick swig from it, before she was putting it back down on the table and could finally relax against Riley once again. Her heart briefly swelled against once she heard him speak up - he was always sweet like that. She just never knew how to deal with it exactly, which before had meant that she would merely brush him off or try her absolute best to ignore him. Which usually worked.Â
âBecky,â she repeated in a soft mumble. âGlad to know âer name now.â It was rather unbelievable to think that she never even knew that the woman existed. It wouldnât have really surprised her, if she never would have found out about her existence - but it made her wonder just how many other aspects about Riley she was completely unaware about. A brief feeling of guilt flared up inside of her, which she did her best to ignore. âItâs good that yaâll goâ each other. Real good. Most siblings donât stay together, ya know? Or they hardly ever see each other. âIâve got five brothers ân sisters which I âardly ever see. All out doinâ our own things, I âpose. Which is alrighâ ân all. I mean, sometimes my brothers come over ân help out with the farm, but noâ a lot.â She found herself pausing again before she offered a slight shrug, unable to deny the sort of comfort she received from Rileyâs touch. âBuâ itâs all good. Donât really care, honestly.â
âYeah well,â he paused, scrunching his face up a little. He didnât want to go into the details of his parents, figuring it would only dull the blissful mood. âI was a bit of a shit growing up, you know? But I always had her back, and she had mine even when I was a dick. We hold each other, âtis the way itâs always been.â Riley shrugged softly, a fond smile on his face. âThatâs not to say I donât get crabby when she tries to get up in my business though. Sheâs too curious for her own good sometimes, but she has a good heart.â The male nodded. He thought briefly about Autumn and Becky meeting - he knew Becky would love her in an instant, but he did fear that his sisters prying soul would only serve to make Autumn feel uncomfortable. Still, he didnât have to worry about that for now, at least. He focused back on the situation at hand, glancing down at her as he continued to tickle her arm. âSo, the farm... This was your gig? Not a family thing?â Riley asked softly, still slightly weary of asking the wrong questions. He knew Autumn didnât like to share much, so the fact she was trying meant a whole lot to him, he didnât want to over-step.Â
âWell, help is always good to have, but you do a grand job on your own too,â he smiled, wondering if she actually did care. Did she secretly with she had her family around more? Or was there more to the story? âYou know, considering Iâve spent months pining after your stupid ass, thereâs a whole lot I donât know bout ya.â Riley chuckled, moving his hand to gently raise her chin up to his gaze. âThereâs a lot you donât know about me too, so Iâm thinking, we can just figure it all out together, step by step?â His eyes flickered between her eyes and her lips as he drew a long breath. âI mean, whatâs the rush?â Riley added, his voice significantly lowering to an almost whisper. She was distracting, having her so close and knowing the feeling of her lips against his, heâd be an idiot not to make another move. Riley inched his face closer, pressing a kiss to her lips as his fingertips grazed over her jaw. He just needed to feed his craving, just for a few seconds before he leaned away from her.Â

Although Lucas was trying his hardest to keep his eyes on the road, it was nearly impossible for him to not at least glance over at Jenny, especially once she began to speak. He did his best to listen attentively, nodding his head along as she spoke and even letting out a bit of a chuckle whenever it was appropriate to do so. âYou had to drop off some cakes, huh? Got any left that I could have?â he asked jokingly with that smile still poised on his lips. âUnless you went and gave them all to your parentsâŠwhich, I mean, would make you a pretty good daughter, at least. Maybe not the best date, though.â Lucas hoped that Jenny would recognize that he was merely teasing her - he had a feeling that she did understand his sense of humor, which at least was a bit comforting. âThatâs still pretty nice that you got to go and stop by to see âem. My folks live in Delaware - itâs a two hour or so drive, but still. Not exactly a short ride to go visit âem.â It would have made things a whole lot simpler if his folks did live closer to where he had settled down - it meant that he could get some much needed help when it came to taking care of Bella. Free babysitting could have been very beneficial. Still, he had a few people he could rely on, like their one neighbor, an elderly woman who was always willing to spend some time with the girl.Â
âWell, I worked today, like usual. Managed to get off a little early though so that I could have enough time to get ready for our date. Then I had to drop Bella off at her friendâs house so that she could have her sleepover. She was pretty excited for it, which was nice. She used to never want to sleepover at her friendâs house - sheâd always start crying and would call me to come pick her up. It was a pain, but itâŠit felt nice, to know that she missed me. But now sheâs starting to grow up and doesnât seem to miss her old pops as much. Which I knew was going to happen someday, but still.â Lucas shrugged slightly and averted his gaze to the restaurant they had finally approached. âLooks like we made it in one piece.â With a grin on his lips he pulled into a spot and hopped out of the car - and before long he was giving his name at the desk, and the two of them were being escorted to a table.Â
âAh well then, hands up Iâm one rubbish date,â she grinned, shrugging her shoulders. âNo cakes left, but I can give you somethinâ else if you got a sweet tooth.â Jenny smiled. It took a couple seconds for her to realize how her words sounded and her brown orbs widened significantly. âI was hoping to make it at least to the restaurant before I started speaking before I thought, but hey... Heaven knows that was only hopeful thinking,â she laughed at herself and shook her head as she lowered it into her hand. It was strange though, how she felt a little embarrass but not awkward in the slightest - he just seemed to have a soothing effect on her soul. âDelaware? Is that where you were born then?â Jenny asked quizzically. It made sense now, as to why she had never saw Bellaâs grandparents. Whenever Lucas was late in picking her up from class, she understood now that it was basically just him who was her sole carer. Her constant. It reflected brightly in the young girl, Lucas was her whole world, not even someone without vision could deny it.
Jenny grinned, turning her head away she let her locks fall over her face to mask her happiness. It pleased her to know he had not only made an effort for her, but actually clocked off earlier than he should have, just to prepare. I mean, it wasnât something she would ever expect him to do for her, so the fact he did it, the brunette was silently very appreciative. âNâaw, sheâs always gonna need you, Lucas - growing up doesnât change that, it just means that the way she needs you does, thatâs not a bad thing, youâll always be her hero,â she looked over with a soft smile. âI mean, I can see why, too.â Jenny added in a soft tone, happy to pay compliments when compliments were deserved. Jenny exited the car, smoothing down her dress before walking beside him into the building. She gazed around with slightly parted lips as they ventured to their table. âChrist,â she whispered. âI feel under-dressed.â Jenny breathed in, but a grin was on her lips as she sat down opposite Lucas. âHowâd you find this place?â

Luckily enough, Autumn had pulled two beers out from the fridge before she went to sit around on the couch, and both were still sitting before her on her coffee table. She watched with careful eyes as he began to come closer to her - there was something different in the air between them, it wasnât difficult to feel. What wasnât as simple was trying to understand whether or not it was exactly a very good thing. She wanted to think that it was okay and all for the best, but then again, she couldnât be exactly sure. Not when things were still this new, this unfamiliar. It would take a little while longer before she was completely comfortable. Then again, maybe she wouldnât ever truly feel completely comfortable⊠Something she hoped was just her mind getting too far ahead of her, like usual. Riley lifting up his shirt, even for just a few brief seconds, was more than enough to catch her attention. The hint of a smile appeared on her lips as she appreciated the brief sight. âGlad to know thaâ hard work I puâ ya through is workinâ out for your health,â she softly teased while she continued to watch him as he finally plopped down beside her.
She only waited a few seconds before she at last caved and shimmied her way over to the man. Autumn found herself curling up into his side, with her head rested against his chest, her hand also on his chest, and her legs splayed out alongside his. A happy sound escaped her throat, one that she hoped he wouldnât catch, as her eyes briefly even flickered shut as well. She couldnât quite seem to shake that smile off her lips, not like she really wanted to, and she did her best to listen to Riley as he spoke. âMmâŠthanks for not, ya know, laughinâ at me⊠Well, too much, anyways. I mean, all seemed to make sense to me, the way you two were sittinâ âround together, laughinâ ân havinâ a good ole timeâŠâ The woman paused to briefly shake her head slightly. âDidnât even stop to thinâ things through. Never wouldâve thoughâ thaâ ya wouldâve came after me the way ya did. Made meâŠwell, made me feel good, knowinâ I meanâ thaâ much to ya.â She probably would just have assumed that Riley had moved on and was happy with somebody else. She never would have found the truth out - which would have been pretty devastating.Â
Riley looked down at her with a soft smile on his lips, he caught the sound she made, but chose not to comment. It was cute, nonetheless. With an arm draped around her, he used his other to hold the beer. Honestly he needed it, all of this felt so unreal he actually wasnât sure if he was dreaming or not. âHey now, I wasnât laughing at you... With you, maybe... Although considering you werenât laughing... Uh, yeah, okay so it was a little chuckle, sure - but, I couldnât help it,â a laugh erupted from his throat and instinctively, he gave her a little squeeze and pressed a kiss into her hair. âI was worried about you. I couldnât think of a reason as to why you would show up and then take off too, so I wanted to make sure you were alright. âRiley hummed. âPlus, I figured if I got to see your face again then maybe the misery would subside for a lilâ while,â he added, turning his head to take a sip of his beer.Â
Once the conversation had started flowing, he relaxed a little more. Although Jess was super offended by his pre- conceived notion of her lack of conversation skills sitting down for even a few minutes did sound great since she had been standing for 6 hours straight. Jess looked at the man and nodded. Â
âAlright,and say you arenât that bad- I might even buy what you order. But I am a wonderful conversationalist, may I have you know.â she spoke with a smile. âSo what can I get ya?â
âI didnât mean to offend,â he smirked, placing his hand over his heart. âI was just hoping you would sit and prove me wrong.â Caleb grinned, shaking his head as he gestured to the booth seat. He flagged the passing waiter with a soft smile, taking a glance towards Jess and her name tag. âExcuse me, could you spare Jess here for a while? Iâm here on some important business, the questions I need to ask her really canât wait. I can give you my contact details should you need them,â The maleâs tone was head-strong, enough to make the waitress feel flustered, which was his plan to throw her off guard.Â
âGreat, thanks. Well Iâll have the burger and a beer, please. And whatever Jess wants.â Caleb nodded as he looked towards the brunette, waiting for her to order something. Once the waitress scurried off, he chuckled and relaxed in his seat. âShe made that too easy, I didnât scare her did I?âÂ
The blonde turned at his words. ââBut you know itâs important when they call you love.ââ she sighed softly running her fingers through her hair. ââi do know you deserve this day, especially with them having you work so much over the past few months. She smiled softly as he propped himself up and shook her head slightly before chuckling. ââWhy would anyone?ââ she joked slightly. When he turned his phone off she smiled all the more before moving to the space besides him that he patted. ââmuch better.ââ
âYeah, I know, but half the time itâs only because they donât want to get off their asses and sort it out themselves,â he chuckled, waiting for her to get back into bed. âBesides, my priorities for today are all about you. Work can meltdown till tomorrow.â Jax shuffled closer to her, wrapping an arm around her back. âOnly a mad man would leave this view to go and stare at paperwork,â he mumbled, tugging teasingly on the sheet that covered her. He leaned his head down and pressed a soft kiss against her neck before looking back at her. âPart of me doesnât want to waste our day together in bed, but the other part of me thinks thatâs actually a very good idea.âÂ
Aurora let out a sigh as she looked down. ââWhat I want is to know if youâre okay that is all iâm asking.ââ she paused for a moment. ââBut i will leave you be, as you wish.ââ
Taking a breath, he closed his eyes to calm himself down. âIâm sorry,â he began, turning back around to her. âIâm not okay, no, but talking about it really ainât my thing either, you know this... But I shouldnât be taking it out on you.â The male offered her a smile, leaning forward to press a kiss against her forehead. âYou donât have to go. Company would be good actually, since itâs yours. I mean, youâre probably the only person on the planet right now that I can stand to be around. Howâs that for favoritism?â he teased.
