I Accept Your Challenge!
Yes, this is a picture of me...and it’s recent. More like 8 days recent.
So I’m guessing you wanna know what happened? Multiple sickness and issues happened.
Having frequent urinations, terrible stomach pains, being extremely hot, and very thirsty, led me to go to an urgent care. After their examinations, I was then recommended to visit my nearest E.R. IMMEDIATELY.
In more detail: The urgent care facility diagnosed me with DKA which is Diabetic Ketoacidosis. I was able to drive myself to the near hospital, where I learned that I had a fever (temp of 103), dehydration, my blood pressure and blood sugar were high, and to top it off, I had pancreatitis.
From the emergency room, I was moved to PCU unit (Progressive Care Unit) and was given IVs in both arms, and had blood drawn for more times that I can count. I was informed my cholesterol and triglycerides were so high that they had to send my blood work to another facility. Once that was gotten back, I learned that I have Type 2 Diabetes. I was hospitalized for 5 consecutive days.
On the last day of my hospitalization, my treating doctor and a dietitian spoke to me to provide more insight about this diagnosis. While the doctor was very blunt on the direction I was headed if no changes were made (which I certainly needed to hear), the dietitian provided steps and ways to get diabetes under control and even beating it. Portion control (of what I eat) and exercise is where emphasizes were given. I felt empowered and had some tools to get in here a fight this thing.
Right now, I’m taking 4 different medicines along with insulin shots, but I’m remaining positive and hopeful to turn this thing around. I owe it to myself lose weight, remain positive, and trust the process.
With that being said...Diabetes......I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE!!!
