grug dont have to change!
Hmmm, Jaune as a Doctor Who companion. And at the end of their journey he ends up with Pyrrha after kinda accidentally basically restarting his universes timeline so technically he isn’t going to the past and can change the would have been future that no longer exists.
Look, I've watched Doctor Who, I know what happens to some of his companions, and if you think I, the guy who loves for Jaune to suffer, would accept a good ending with the Doctor?
You've gotta be joking, my friend!
If anything, with Jaune's luck, he's more screwed with the Doctor!
Seriously, Jack became immortal, Rose is stuck in an alternate universe, Donna got her mind wiped, Amy and Rory were displaced in time (Yes, they did live happy lives though).
Clara is trapped between life and death, Bill was shot and then turned into a Cyberman, and... That's all I remember. I haven't watched much of the new seasons.
But Jaune becoming the Doctor's companion? Oh man, that just screams tragedy!
Ooh, like accidentally getting temporally bonded to the tardis, so he gets stuck being the Doctor's companion while he was saving the life of another, furthering his own suffering in now being stuck in this reality and the Doctor's guilt in ruining another person's life in a manner they might view as worse than death

Ruby: It was pretty awkward for a while when uncle Qrow told us he and Clover were dating.
Yang: Yeah, dad and Raven were really PISSED after he was introduced to the family.
Blake: Did they not know Qrow was gay?
Ruby: No, dad says they already knew that.
Yang: It’s because Clover was an Atlas cop.
RWBY Volume 1 Chapter 2: The Shining Beacon (Part 1)
Not to be an unreasonable Jaune stan (despite already being one), but i think this is like a really important scene.
Like, this is the scene that establishes RWBY will have friendships outside their own team and be about characters other than just the title cast.
If you don't show Ruby making friends outside the team, than including them later feels weird, sudden and reliant on the original show.
Like hey, who are these people and why do they know each other so well? Especially when considering how much Pyrrha probably wanted to be as far away as possible from Weiss and maybe even from people that knew/cared about her career/fame.
Its a problem I've had with nearly every official adaptation in the manga and spin-offs
I think regardless of whether or not you're a Jaune stan (and regardless of your opinion on Jaune at all, for that matter), you're 100% right about Jaune's introduction being an important scene.
By this point, the four title characters had been introduced and their personalities had been established. So, we're all set in regards to them. With the title characters all squared away, now is the perfect time to introduce some significant supporting characters, namely Team JNPR.
It's absolutely important for the main characters to have relationships with people outside of their own group. Otherwise, it feels like they're trapped in a little box together. That being said, Jaune's introduction was nicely done, because literally right before, Ruby had a bad first impression with Weiss and Blake, after having been ditched by Yang.
Mind you, Yang wasn't being malicious. She just wanted Ruby to learn how to branch out. Ruby had already disregarded to need to make friends, so long as she could tag along with her big sister, prompting Yang to give her the extra push. Ruby then having a bad encounter with Weiss and being brushed off by Blake (even if Blake did defend her from Weiss) definitely didn't help her anxiety about meeting people. But then along came this awkward dude, and gave us hope that Ruby would be making friends after all.
I also like that Jaune is Ruby's first friend at Beacon Academy. I knew the main girls would end up being tight-knit eventually. Seeing them get off to a bad start and have no interest in bonding would make their eventual friendship all the more satisfying. That's why it just kind of works this way by having Ruby befriend someone else first. That way she's not all sad and alone during the rough start. Also, it opened the door for us to meet other important characters like Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora (AKA, the best girl).
happy pride month <3
