I was messing around with posing and ended up doing a half assed Starscream design. I swear I draw him terrifying every time.
Drawing after awhile is always interesting.
Minimus and his search for his armor. The missing piece that he thinks will right his wrongs, his mistakes. Code only gets you so far, what happens when your morality comes into question?
Little au, poor Minimus is subject to my torment of scribbles.
You are a beautiful creature.
I create a lot of doomed love but total devotion types, I feel like I can see these two like that depending on the continuity. Just wanted to draw something light hearted to get out of art block- mind you, I'm not much of a shipper.
My Mii's from the demo that I fixed up- I have more since it came out but I don't know if I should post them hahah. Optimus was a nightmare and the first one I did.
Just some tfp sketches, I have a whole little au thing which is why some of the designs are different. They're not great but I fell in love with the way I drew Bulkhead's side profile, I don't even know why.
Episode 6! finally after procrastinating, I got to complete episode 6 of watching Transformers Animated for the first time.
As always, I will be saying spoilers, so feel free to skip the ramblings of a madman.
Immediately into the episode, I saw the sign for dinosaurs and thought of the Dinobots. The entire time I was just waiting for them to transform, only to get it the last minute.
Prowl was so sweet and I can appreciate that love for life he has. I wish the others took that a little more seriously.
Sumdac is so smart but dumb at the same time and I blame the sleep deprivation. He's too trusting! He's smart enough to deconstruct cybertronian parts on his own, but completely misses the oddities of adding flame throwers to an attraction piece.
He's one step away from villain territory, as sad as that'd be. He's got the mad scientist looks, he's got the smarts and the ally just not the conviction. And honestly, it's nice that even with all that power and potential, he just isn't.
Although his logic is dubious, I can't stop thinking of him as endearing.
Speaking of antagonists, I want to see more Decepticons. I don't know who's in it other than a few and its drip feeding their appearances. Oh and that key? It's got a personality I swear.
I went on a whole tangent on Sumdac just to draw Grimlock... It's okay, I've got the rest of the series to find the right moment for him. Enjoy the fire breathing dino in the meantime-
Episode 4! It took a while, I feel the creeping burnout but I like the practice.
I'll be saying spoilers, feel free to skip the rambles of a madman.
Where do I start? This episode overwhelmed me with stunning sound and animation. I don't know why I was suddenly wowed.
I started watching it and thought I clicked on the wrong show before Optimus rocked up. Boy was I giddy for the rest of the episode.
I love it when you can hear how they affect their surroundings. Every jump and step. The action scenes made it hard to keep quiet. I'd gush all day about animation if I could. The motorbike switch- Optimus' close-up transformation sequence- I'm trying not to be emotional, it's so cool!
It made me think of their dynamics, how they view eachother and that fun stuff. Ships and familial bonds. I like how my last post mentioned wanting to see Prowl grow and Megatron's return. Seeing Ratchet injured pulled my heartstrings so bad. I do like how he's not just a behind-the-lines character though, even if it hurts.
Prowl's love for organics is a nice detail. The way he's drawn is especially pleasing with his acrobatics. I can relate to taking it slow.
I have notes for who I'll draw, and it's just a whole tangent on its own. A quote from my notes, "The key is cool, can the key be my favourite?"
I picked Prowl because he got a good moment and I struggled to capture him the way I wanted. I was debating on Megatron and Sumdac as well, but they can be for another day!
I finally got a Shockwave figure! a whole debacle with building him. I certainly would not be a good medic...
thought I'd pose him with Soundwave and ended up with accidental shipping. I'm not mad- Also wanted to post the photos and jazz them up, but it looked like shoddy screenshots and just couldn't paint over them hahah-
Episode 5 of watching Transformers Animated for the first time! First im just going to apologise for drawing Bumblebee bleeding... I love Bumblebee. I will be saying spoilers so feel free to not read my ramblings of a madman. It comes off as a filler episode, not much to say- but I do love that I could draw this using the episode inspiration
Showing Bee's ego is interesting, it made me think a little. It made me question if he actually doesn't like being called short or if he doesn't like people weaponising that against him. I totally get it if it is, people can ruin things like that.
This episode really cemented the nostalgia. The villain Prometheus reminds me of a Ben 10 episode and Bee really reminds me of Teen Titans. The first episode honestly felt that way but I didn't want to lump it in with other media right off the bat.
It's incredibly 2000s and it makes me giggle but sigh in mock pain. If I'd watched this as a kid I'd probably love and hate it at the same time. Just because I'd attempt rewatching it five times only to overdo it. I still have ATLA and Dragon Ball episodes stuck in my head.
The diverse accents is nice, something you didn't get often from memory. It's also nice that they aren't the butt of the joke...so far.
I decided on Bumblebee for obvious reasons, it's his moment. I am proud of the effect I was able to achieve.
Onto episode 3- I think that's right- of drawing for my first time watching Transformers Animated. I'll be saying spoilers, so feel free to skip the rambles of a madman as always. My other posts explain why I started watching it. Let's just say Optimus.
Starscream and I have a funny rivalry. I'm appalled I even drew him... but he made me laugh when he appeared. I will say I feel bad for him whenever he gets beaten up by Megatron. He was surprisingly formidable. It honestly makes me want to see more of his strength, more of why he's second in command.
Prowl's abilities are interesting, it reminds me a bit of Mirage. His whole character is a bit different, and I'm curious if they'll do more with his issues with teamwork.
Same with Ratchet's ability, silly magnetic field stuff.
At the end of the episode, my jaw kinda dropped at Megatron and Sumdac. I sort of expected it, its elluded to at the end of episode 1- but sir, that was once a living being or at the least it's considered stealing. It does make me interested in what the reveal will look like. How will your empire fall?
Anyway! Episode 3 gets a Starscream for the already mentioned reasons. Why the hell is he so hard to draw, and why did I make him so scary...
Not much to say, I like Rung, and he makes me sad.
I find it so hard to draw silly things. To finish them and to think of them, I admire all the artists who can just draw the most unhinged but cute ideas.
Note that it's hard to get references so I definitely made some mistakes.
Some studies using my persona as the subject with added notes and random doodles for fun. All subject to change as I'm always learning.
Art block sucks, so I'm just trying to ease myself into drawing again. Terraria pulled me into a whole arc, and thus I've been doodling my character. Thank goodness I had writing to keep my sanity-
This is my first time watching Transformers Animated. I kept seeing it everywhere like a haunting shadow, so I was like- Why not? I will be saying spoilers. You don't have to read the rambles of a madman. Before I started watching it, I was surprised at the design choices. So I went in kinda knowing it would be different. I then found out that Optimus was not leading the war, and wow, did that make me curious. So episode one I watched with an open mind, it's an old show and if I can stomach old 80s cartoons I can handle early 2000s. I'll be honest, it's jarring but it's fun. Seeing the differences and the personality quirks. Megs has a surprisingly smooth voice and Optimus is so tiny. Ratchet is battle-scarred and my mind just went "What did they do to my boy!", although it's nice to see. My main thought after leaving the episode was: why did Optimus sound so suspicious, saying he studied in the Autobot Academy? The hesitation was heard- was he just awkward or is there more to it? Rhetorical question, I'll probably feel silly later after speculating. In the end, I decided to draw Optimus Prime for episode 1. It feels fitting as he caught my attention this episode.
Continuing the saga of drawing characters from my first time watching Transformers Animated, onto episode 2. I will be saying spoilers. You don't have to read the rambles of a madman. I won't repeat myself too much. Optimus is what got me interested in the show plus the major storyline differences. I'm seeing the show with an open mind, so I won't say many dislikes.
Oh, and also, last post I forgot to mention I thought it was cute that Optimus was watching the old show.
Meeting the humans and seeing how the bots react to them is usually a little silly.
It's nice seeing diversity from an old show. I actually thought it was much more modern because of it. I'm reserved only because it could go into...harmful stereotypes.
Ratchet's level-headed snark is nice. He's not just a grump; he has a reason. His logic is fun to watch. I hope it doesn't get forgotten later on.
I decided on Sari for this episode. She needs a present dad I swear- also her hair is a wonderful colour, drawing it was fun. I used creative liberty on Sparkplug.
