quick timeline of reverse psychology shit-
sam and jon meet in high school, she has a crush, he blows her off at the party, breaks her heart, whatever
years later she finds out he’s in a band called the social climbers, listens to it, gets a MASSIVE CRUSH on the lead singer
shows up to a show, lead singer & bassist (braxton) does some crowd work and asks for a volunteer to do a simple bassline, sam gets picked, she shows off on stage, they hook up afterwards
braxton offers her a spot as their bassist and his gf, she accepts, shit’s wild for two years, they get super famous
braxton is a horrible boyfriend he’s just the fucking Worst. he’s also an egotistical control freak who runs the band like a dictator
eventually, jon and sam get fed up with him and leave, starting up a band together (plus their friend julian on drums- jon is the guitarist and frontman, sam is bass again but helps write)
this band is called reverse psychology! yay : ) good times all around, slowly sam and jon fall in love, they get married, it’s adorable
braxton is still around as the social climbers and gets real pissed when reverse psychology starts winning awards over him. he’s a dick to everyone but especially sam
but then he gets lung cancer and sam helps him through some of that shit and they begin a tentative friendship
they rejoin way later down the road as the social fall, an homage to how they started, swapping out their original drummer with julian (who becomes braxton’s best friend along the way)
