It’s been a while ^^”

Hey, everybody, it’s been a while since I last posted anythings here, but without going into much details: life has just been hard - is hard still. 

But now, that there’s a release date for RWBY9, I just thought I’ll have to let y’all now about what is going to happen on this blog :)

Short answer: GIFs/GIFsets will happen but they simply may take a lot longer for me to make for a few reasons:

(1) I simply no longer have the hardware for it - my laptop has already been struggling three years ago (and yes, three years have already passed) and these days it just takes several tries for it to even actually boot/start up - and I just simply can’t afford a new one - life has been hard - and I’ll just have to simply hope for the best and for it not to crash every 15min every time I start making gifs

(2) I also can’t really afford a FIRST membership, and for several reasons that happened over the past in regards of RT (and partially even the CRWBY) that I’m not going to dig up again, I simply don’t want to spend, especially what little, I already have on one

(3) The way the last delay happened just rubbed me the wrong way immensely: This post here by another person put it incredibly well and it just simply drained a lot of the joy I had for RWBY out of me - which isn’t to say that I no longer absolutely love the series, I just no longer feel as enthusiastic about it as I used to. Not for what I, after three years of waiting, fear to be nothing but a basically filler Volume fully on the island. With no moving along of any of the Vacuo and Salem plot.

And especially not seeing as the CRWBY themselves would rather prioritize a garbage Justice League and RWBY crossover over the actually series and V9. 

And no, I don’t for a single second believe that any RWBY DC comics sold well enough to warrant one or were even liked well enough to. But I’m not going to rant on the hot mess those are.

Either way, this blog isn’t fully dead, it’ll just keep going at a lower pace.

Delays happen – no one likes them, but making shit is hard and sometimes things go wrong. They’re upsetting, but unless they’re handled really poorly that’s all they are.

Announcing a release year, saying nothing for five months into that year, breaking your silence only to say that more news will be coming at a convention in July, and then announcing another year of delay at the convention is not handling a delay well.

Sometimes I wonder about the poor sap who had to go out and find Winter’s basically needle-in-a-haystack sword for her.

And about how it was maybe Ironwood who gave the order while she was out being treated like:

”No, I’m not just going to have a new one made. That one is custom-made and she likes it. Now go find my daughter’s Operative Schnee’s sword.”

Only so she would almost stab him in the eye with it a few hours later.

It’s a headcanon that gives me life on many different levels xD

For a fraction of a second, Winter considered that perhaps it was ungrateful to take Ironwood’s life - or, at least, his eye - with the very main-gauche for which Ironwood ordered some cadet to search the streets of Atlas.

The dagger’s shape could have easily been replicated. Yet, it wouldn’t be the same. It wouldn’t be the second half of the weapon she forged with her own hands. It wouldn’t be the embodiment of the first step she took to forge her own path.

And yet, Winter changed her mind just as quickly. Nothing would show her gratitude more than ending the tyranny of the General with the very weapon returned to her by the caring hand of James.

James was the Headmaster who took her in. She was a refugee of an icy, violent, uncaring kingdom. And James took her in. Taught her to fight. Guided her in tempering the anger and hate she inherited from her father into a fine blade. A blade she honed for the sole purpose of slaying the kingdom’s enemies.

And before her stood the kingdom’s greatest enemy.

James raised her to hunt monsters. There was no better way to show her gratitude than to slay the monster he’d become.

I still can’t get over how Jacques got rid of anything indicating Winter’s existence inside of the manor and how he had started to do the same thing with Weiss, after she completely left. The only thing that he had kept was Whitley’s portrait on his desk.

I’d also like to think that he is petty enough of have had Winter’s portrait on his desk first at some point. And when Winter went to combat school he put her portrait on the shelf where Weiss’ used to be in V4 and he put a portrait of Weiss on his desk instead.

And when Weiss went to combat school (in Vale of all things as well) he put her portrait on the self and Whitley on his desk. And when Weiss broke out of the manor he turned it around and he probably threw it out after he saw her by the hangar at the military base, when he realized that he could no longer even force to get her back.

Winter opened the door and entered. Even though she spent most nights in her personal quarters at the military base, it was good to return home every so often.

Home obviously not being Schnee Manor, which back when she was younger, she used to only ever refer to as “home” as a formality. After she had been officially and financially cut off, the first thing she decided on getting the moment she started making her own money was her very own place away from the manor. Away from him. Just thinking about that person made her blood boil to the point where it almost clouded her vision.

She took off her gloves and her white military coat. While neatly hanging the coat on the hanger in the small doorway and putting the gloves in one of the pockets, she noticed the folded weapon on the floor leaning against the hanger. A weapon she was all too familiar with. All anger seemed to almost immediately vent out of her and smiling gently she walked into the living room to look for the owner of said weapon.

I’m sure y’all knew that Winter was the one who taught and trained her baby sister by now, but here’s some better visuals to show that :D

Both sisters’ stances are basically the same, except Winter hold her (main) sword in her right, while Weiss hold it in her left. (Winter’s also looks a lot ‘cleaner’)

Now here’s my rambling about this xD

Weiss is prominently left-handed, which is why she holds her sword in that hand.

Winter has been confirmed to be ambidextrous - she dual-wields and she used to dual-wield all the time at some point in her early training, since it has been confirmed that her splitting sword also used to be two separate swords in the beginning [I would by the way really like to know the name(s) of her sword(s), if Winter ever named it/them xD]

So Winter is ambidextrous and while she uses her left hand to write - we can figure that one out because she wears her sleeve holder on her left arm (the chibi aside) - she hold her main sword in her right hand.

So I was wondering how she came to do that. My thinking is that she started out using her left hand to write as a kid, Weiss copying her older sister started to subconsciously use her left hand for things as well.

Winter then started her training, took well to dual-wielding and became more and more used to using both of her hands equally.

Weiss wanted to start her training and Winter started training her by giving her one of her swords - presumably the one she used with her left hand, since Weiss was solely left-handed by then.

The swords were probably completely the same, but because I believe Winter to be super meticulous about things she would have one strictly ‘left sword’ and one strictly ‘right sword’.

So while she was training Weiss using her left sword only, Winter must have at some point gotten used to also fight using one sword only and figured that she might just smash her two swords into one and only split them up to dual-wield when she was going to have to fight seriously.

And Weiss who continued to only use on sword later on modeled her Myrtenaster after Winter’s sword (this has also been confirmed) in the end for probably several reasons :D
